Crazy how with just Maradona Argentina was a contender to win the World Cup but without him they wouldn’t make it past the group the stage.
Perhaps Diego is not the most regular, nor the fastest, nor the most disciplined, nor the most winner in titles, but he is undoubtedly the most talented footballer who has ever existed and will probably exist!

As a kid growing up in the poorest parts of Africa in the 80's, I've since watched many gifted and talented players come and go (including his current Argentine predecessor, who I'm a massive fan of) but for me there was and will ONLY ever be one footballing icon🙏😍.
I've NEVER in my life, felt like a big part of my childhood went away, with the passing of a famous person....until this week 😢
If Maradona the Great had not fallen victim to promiscuous lifestyle and had kept his physique fit,as Ronaldo or Messi does now, the hotly debated question of the greatest football player of all time, whether Pele or Maradona, would not have arisen because after the WC1986 when the press asked Pele whether Maradona had surpassed him in the game the legend didn't deny it, instead, gave the evasive answer that the geniuses are unique and cannot be compared . Only Maradona could win a WC in the entire history with such an average team in1986.Had he been healthy and his ankle free from problem the final result of the world cup 1990 would definitely have been different! IMO he was a better leader who stood tall with his presence, leadership skill and despite being badly injured kept producing those magic moments that resulted in Argentina ‘s success at the World Cup against better organised teams like Italy and Brazil. Maradona was a legend and for me the best. To be a complete football player you have to have skill and character. And I hate to say it since I’m Argentinian and he’s my favorite player but thats something that Messi doesn’t have. He has the skill but then you need to have strong personality, i don’t know how to explain it’s like you have to have that goal in your mind that you want to win and your gonna win. Messi doesn’t have that so it’s been difficult for him to win a international trophy maradona had that and showed that at Napoli and World Cup.

Maradona was a shadow of himself in Italia 90, his only his bit of magic came against Brazil which was one of few standout moments in a dreadfully dull negative world cup, the final match fraught with controversy and gamesmanship, it was apt that the decisive goal came from a disputed penalty, which was dispatched by Andreas Brehme in the 85th minute. We can only hope that no other World Cup final will ever be as dispiritingly awful as this one.
