Lots of memories. I was 10 years old. And that time my father was watching with me and my brother. He passed away on 1997. Argentina won again on 2022. This time I'm watching it alone.

I was 10 too. It’s been a long 36 years, but I can still hear the commentator as it was yesterday (i’ve made a voice reccord on a cassette and relistened it dozens of times). “Maradona … they are attacking … attacking … Schumacher … and goal!”
Those years I was only 6, and can hardly remember something. I remember, everyone was saying Maradona Maradona. Then I remember the game of Argentine against Italy, when Argentine won with Maradona closed by two Italian defenders managed to pass the ball to Kanija, and he scored with his head. I watched the football with my uncle, who also passed away. Those time were special.

@@monty2k1 I was 5 years old when this match took place so I don't remember anything about it but I remember growing up hearing the name "Maradona" everywhere in 1989 Napoli vs Stuttgart European federation cup final was the first match I saw Maradona playing live when I was 8 years old and then I saw him in world cup Italy 90, I believe that he was a great player. However, to say that Maradona and Pele cannot be compared to anyone else and they come one time in history, I believe that this kind of nostalgia, in my opinion Messi is more skilled than Maradona and I have this conviction even before he won the world cup and I would consider him the best of all time even if he didn't win the world cup, and that doesn't mean we can't see anyone better than him in the future, we might see someone who is more skilled than Messi in the future as long as there new generations of football players, but for me Messi is the best of all time so far.
I don't discount the fact that Messi isn't a great player. Otherwise, how could he lead his country to another world cup victory. Who knows, in the future, there may be someone even more skilled than Maradona or Pele, too, as I can see the emerging future generation of players, too, possess immense talent.

What won Argentina this game was the fact that Germany had so many players marking maradona. You can see at 8:50 that everyone is around maradona and that allows him to play that pass through. If you leave maradona free he punishes you and if you man mark him he also punishes you simply a magical player
Same thing happened with Brazil marking Messi - Di Maria doing damage.
Argentina won Brazil this way in 90. There were 5 players to mark maràdona. And he made a pass to cannigia score the goal.

The 1986 World Cup final match was very memorable for me, who was still 14 years old at that time. Our whole family woke up in the early morning around 1.30 am and all supported Maradona and co. This is one of the most beautiful finals but also thrilling. Unlike the previous 6 matches, this time Maradona sacrificed for the team and played more of a role in opening up space for "El Burru" (Burruchaga) and Valdano. Bilardo's strategy was very effective, El Burru appeared as the Man of The Match. His brilliant assist made it easier for Brown to head the ball into Schumacher's net. Hector Enrique collaborated with Maradona in Valdano's goal. Even though Rummenigge and Voeller were then equalized, the Captain's super genius action managed to release El Burru from the Panzer team's offside trap. As he relates, Burruchaga put on "the most exhilarating run of his life" dribbling the ball towards goal and beating Schumacher. For the sake of Argentina's championship, Maradona was willing to "give" the final to Jorge Burruchaga. When Ramualdo Arppri blew the final whistle, I burst into tears and my whole family was happy too and we didn't sleep again until morning..... Thank you Maradona, Bilardo, Burruchaga, Valdano and all other Argentina team members for this happiness!!

This was the best WC final until 2022 happened. Almost same situation. Argentina leading 2-0 and then getting 2 goals. The difference is Messi's hit at the 96th minute was blocked by France otherwise, it would have also been 3-2.
