  • METAL PRIVACY FENCE INSTALLATION
    In this video, I’m back residential welding on the privacy fence build. I’m Austin Ross of arosswelding and on this channel, I share my experiences as a rig welder and in my mobile welding business. If you are looking for privacy fence installation, metal privacy fence installation, metal privacy fence ideas, or metal post privacy fence I think you will like this video. Subscribe for more videos on structural welding, welding business, structural welding jobs, residential metal fences, and hobby welding projects ideas. Rather you are a hobby welder or have a welding business I hope the channel provides something entertaining for you to watch. This specific picket privacy fence is made with dog-eared picket. This isn’t my typical metal fence but it’s been fun to do something different and I’m loving the combination of wood picket with metal post and rails.

    Hacks leave slag on their welds. If you're not cleaning your welds, that means you're not inspecting them or putting 100% into your trade. Fence is looking great!

    Great job and good looking fence. I dont trust a string line. Use a laser level or transit is the best thing but the can be pricey. Before i could afford a tool like that i would use a water level. Clear tubing with died water and a valve on the ends. Works great and easy to use plus you can make it 20ft long or longer. Look it up it might come in handy for you. Take care and keep up the good work.

    "Flood" makes several shades of stain for cedar fence. I use 'Cedar Tone" . Two coats will last 20 years. Unless their sprinkler system constantly washes the fence. The stained fence will be much more desirable than the natural aging.

    You need to make the gaps in between your posts uniform ,make up your top and bottom rails to the size of the pickets , build the fence with posts and base rails in one go ,the Base rails set the post distances correct . Then piece up to the corners.

    • @kevinsteele724
      @kevinsteele724 Před 3 lety +1

      I think there is a high chance of warping if you dont add the middle support. Unless the pickets are the higher quality thicker pickets.
      I'd say home depot pressure treated will in fact warp. Cedar will likely hold up better, since there will be less moisture leaving the wood.

    Not looking to be a Debbie-Downer, but when working with any kind of wood, you have to remember that wood expands & shrinks, depending on the weather, summer vs winter. Personally, I'd go with a minimum 1/8" in. (0.00159 m) spacing, to as much as a 1/4" in. (.250" in. / .00635 m.) If you don't allow for this, the wood will buckle and distort.
