I would like them to give manual volume control while on internal mic.
Great video. Next DJI MUST do is focus breathing compensation. Focus breathing is horrible on Pocket 3.
Haven't really experienced it to be honest
I’m about to send mine back, it’s THAT bad. Worst I’ve ever seen on any device 👎🏻
Hopefully DJI adds open gate recording soon. For anyone that doesn't know what that is, basically it's just recording video with the full sensor instead of cropping it to 16:9. That way you can crop in post and have a lot more flexibility. It's a super helpful feature if you post to social media but also should be super simple to implement via firmware. My S23 Ultra can record 8K in 16:9 but can't record 4K in 4:3 even though it's way LESS pixels. It makes no sense lol. The GoPro Hero 11 and 12 can do it, the Insta360 Go 2 and 3 can do it, and the Lumix S5 II and S5 IIX can do it and everyone loves it. GIVE US OPEN GATE DJI.
Im confused hiw 4:3 is less pixels- depending on the sensor and how they arrive at 16:9, I guess. Example: on all my DJI Dones, Mini 4 Pro, Air 3, Mavic 3 Pro, 4:3 os the highest number of puxels, and 16:9 crops off the top and bottom to provide 16:9. Thus "open gate" in this scenario is the 4:3 ratio.
@@BlairAir I mean specifically when comparing 8K to 4K. 8K is about a 30MP video while 4K is only about 8MP.
@@AlbertStewart ahh right. I've hear rumor that 8k uses more pixels than 4k! Personally, I use 2.7k for CZcams uploads for efficiency, since most folks watch on phones, it's way smaller on disk, and permits higher zoom, though it's digital, so not really useful. Thanks.

I'd like a way to turn off those prompts that cover the screen.......fix the touch screen action when changing modes....
The feature I like is recording an ambient recirding at the camera whilst I rattle on about this (and that)
- When updating the camera, if the battery handle is attached, that will get updated too. Or, if you attach it later, the handle will get updated from the camera, no phone involved. But some people have reported that the handle update doesn't actually happen. The problem may be that it's not fully charged, and it won't attempt the update in case it goes flat and gets bricked. So, if anyone encounters a problem with the update, first try fully charging the phone and the battery handle, and that may make a difference.
- Built in mic audio backup: I don't know why they called it that because it's a whole lot more than a backup. First of all, yes, you have to turn on the feature (and turn it off again if you don't want it on a subsequent take) and no, it's not in wireless settings because it relates to use with any external mic, which could for instance be a binaural headset. And if you do use a binaural headset, then when you talk to camera which always sounds odd in binaural sound, you can switch or crossfade or mix between the internal mics and the external mics in editing. But even if there is no external mic connected, the Pocket 3 will still record the supplementary wave file. And this enables you to ditch the lossy AAC audio, and use pristine lossless 16 bit 48kHz audio from the wave file instead. (Apparently this has been a feature of GoPro cameras for some years). Meanwhile rumours are swirling that the wave file may become 32 bit float in a future update. We'll see. But for now, the Pocket 3 has become a four channel audio recorder, which happens to record rather good video as well.
I’ve ordered the Ulanzi wireless microphones as I only got the basic package for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Looking forward to using them.
Hey. That’s what I got as well. Think the bundle is a bit steep for what it is
Hey Vic thanks for sharing. I didn't know about the hidden audio backup toggle.
I would like to see the following in the next filmware.
- face tracking in 4k slow motion
- face tracking and D-Log in 1080p 240fps
- face tracking in low light mode
- D-Log and 10bit in time/hyper/motion lapse modes.
I know this is really pushing it lol, but can you just image. This will really be the perfect little pocket cam that will be very hard to beat.
That's my wish list for the next filmware update.
Hey 👋 yeah. I’ve no idea but I reckon at least most of those are a possibility. To their credit DJI have always grinded out epic firmware updates
Hey Vic! Great video. I just got the camera and I’m a beginner with filming. Color grading IS NOT my strong suit and getting good exposure and stuff. I try but I end up getting it looking quite terrible. I definitely need practice but… going on a trip at the end of the month.
Would you recommend sticking to normal color or still filming in D-Log and practicing up until the vacation and just commit?
To be honest how important is the trip? The color grading can always wait. Might be no harm to shoot a few dlog clips anyway but maybe for the best part leave it on normal
Shoot in normal - it’s now 10-bit, same as DLOG, so there’s a bit more room to edit than before the update.
@@VicBarry thanks for responding! Think I’m gonna go normal this time and keep practicing with your videos for next time! Thanks again Vic
@@wolfiemedia wow didn’t know that. Makes me very happy!
My microphone records on one channel. You have two channels on a track. How did you enable this?
do you know if DJI might put an airplane mode on the pocket 3? It'd be nice to be able to turn off the antennas.
No idea, but I'd imagine it's not the hardest thing to add in a firmware update if there was enough demand for it
Hi Vic. What is the wireless mic you are using in this video? Do you rate it?
Hey 👋 is this Ulanzi AM18 - it’s amazing for the price and the functionality is really incredible. Made a review here if you’re interested czcams.com/video/DuFlvzw3UBw/video.htmlsi=6oS12jbUdHiad_4g
@@VicBarry awesome. Thank Vic.
Thanks!
Thank you for the super thanks Norman
These are awesome updates! However, since the first update, my face tracking has been skipping and freezing on the Mimo app (not in-camera), then the Mimo app kicks me out (repeatedly).
Also, Manual verses Auto: Manual looks contrast-y and Auto looks like the shadows have been lightened too much. I notice this when clicking back and forth between the two. It is like the contrast is changed for us without us having access to contrast settings. Maybe there is something I am not understanding? Hopefully, DJI will add the ability to adjust the contrast with a firmware update; my Sony ZV-1 allows this and it can come in handy.
I love this camera! 😆 Thank you for sharing and for all your work! 🙂
Might be time to reinstall the Mimo app
@@VicBarry I had not thought about that. Thank you so much! I will try that! 🙂
How you update the battery 🔋
For the next update I want my voice recording to sound like Vic Barry 😅
🤣 Let’s do it. @dji let’s make it happen 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is it possible to charge pocket 3 with a powerbank with 1 amp?
No idea to be honest
Tobe able to use Mic 2 when in the PRO mode!!
Can anyone tell me why my FT(selfie) mode not working 😢
Hi Vic, how to update now mi mic from the pocket 3, have updated the cam and the battery handle but I think I missed the mic update cuz when I check the mic version update at the pocket 3 still showing the old version number!! Can you tell me please how to update the mic now??? Thanks in advance Gus
You need to download the firmware on your computer (from the Dji website) and copy the file to the mic by connecting it to the computer. When you disconnect, the mic will automatically update itself.
I would like to see 5.3kn 60 Dlog. 5.3 k allows cropping and still outputting superb 4k vids for CZcams (My Gopros are always at 5.3 60)
Can't see it happening to be honest, not in this version anyway. You can still shoot 4K, edit in a 1080p timeline, and then render at 4K.
@@VicBarry sadly I am a pixel peeper, I like to watch CZcams on a big 4k TV, so anything that’s been to 1080p and back is noticeably poor… OK for the occasional clip but… still the little Osmo 3 is working well for vlogging. Though it’s a bit fragile so the GP12 still wins for much of what I do as it’s unbreakable in my hands.
is there a way to record without any audio ?
Nope, unless you're in the slo mo modes which don't record audio
When is the update for the uk
It’s out globally
The feature I wsnt to see in an update is a simple one. A way to pause recording. Double tap this, long press that... I'm easy, just do it, DJI!
The only update I can think of is it to make my morning ciffee
Next update...fingers crossed
Lol youre like a rapper. Why do I feel like you might be a hip hop head though? Love the Pocket 3 vids. V useful.
Ha :) Not a hip hop head
I kept waiting for your downside to updating... I'm waiting for gesture controls.
Ha! No downside....yet ;) - I'd think that gesture controls are a high possbility
After I installed it I saw it said connect your battery first.
Just connect your fully charged battery handle and it should update direct from the camera, no phone required. Note, fully charged.
I know it's impossible but I would like it to have a 6k format, so I can have a digital zoom without losing quality. And also the possibility of recording raw video on an external SSD 😅
🤣 Osmo Pocket 6 🤗
@@VicBarry 🤣🤣🤣
I believe that the sensor was chosen for low light performance rather than lossless digital zoom performance. Probably every owner will have a different opinion on that! I guess the lucky people who have the Pocket 2 should take that along too and use its good zoom feature for clips that require it.
@@Ozpeter I'm absolutely happy with this camera, but I think the 6k would have guaranteed a very useful 4x digital zoom, without any particular quality losses. It would have been the perfect everyday and travel camera!
@@crisrocchi2722 As I understand it, if they packed extra pixels onto the 1" sensor, it would have had a trade-off in terms of sensitivity (while at the same time providing "spare" pixels for digital zoom). What would the difference have been? We will never know. Not with this particular Pocket model, anyway.
Super video upload 👍😉
Always thought it a @#µ% !! that the DJi Mic 1's aren't integrated into the Osmo 3 as per the Mic 2!
💡💥🚀
The January update will be the one 😼
What are you hoping it’ll bring?
Thanks a lot Vic for this Video, but: Once again for stupid people: The Pocket 3 now records internally (as soon as I have activated this in the setting) a track from the internal microphone (which one? probably the one at the front?) and a track from the Mic2? Or one stereo track each, i.e. 4 tracks? Sorry, I couldn't see or understand that well. It's up to me.
Hey Mathias, it’s just one files. A .wav is the backup file (from the internal mics in the pocket 3) and then the external mic is “hard wired” into the video file
@@VicBarry u help me to become more smart, haha. thanx
I had the same question. So this is good if you are holding the camera and recording someone else who is far away with the DJI mic on, and both of you are having a conversation, because both voices would be heard. Am I right?
I don't see why that wouldn't work to be honest@@TOUCHASMR
I love most of the feature suggestions I've read here, but I think my most desirable and doable feature would be more granular ISO settings in manual mode. It would give us better control if we didn't have to jump from 400 to 800 to 1600 and so on.
