- Revisiting my Washburn Solar "Vinter" USA Custom Shop. The first manufactured guitar based on my designs. I set it up, change the strings, also shim one of the nut slots in it.

It’s not too often you hear musicians talk so highly of their previous relationships with other brands/endorsements. It’s rare to hear them talk about it period, other than maybe a few words. It’s easy to tell that you’re incredibly grateful for Washburn and everything they did. Your signature is actually what put Washburn on my radar, and I’m happy to see Solar Guitars emerge from that. Can’t wait for my first Solar to come in!

Hey everyone, did you know you can learn howto play a blues solo in any key? and it will probably take you less than 30 mins? I know this because YT tells me 20 times every effing day

I used aluminium foil before for temporary slot fixing in nut, you can fold it and cut it to shape easily then fit it in. That Washburn looks really cool by the way.

7:38 I use the "Satin Finish Guitar Cleaner" from Tylor for my Solar Guitars. This stuff works really well to get rid of this ugly, glossy fingerprints.
I would totally buy a Solar guitar with this set up and specs. The print on the neck behind the paint is soooooooooo incredible along with the neck profile!!!
I played this one, and the thing that really blew me away was the neck profile. Amazing neck!

I haven’t played guitar for almost 6 years. Haven’t even touched one. I’ve been too busy with school and business. When I start back playing again, I think I’m gonna get a Solar Guitar. They’ve got some really great features.

If I recall, the shop I worked sales in would use baking soda and a touch of super glue to fill a nut slot back in. Then re-file and set up. Worked like a charm.

I used a tiny piece of a soda can to use as a shim on the G string nut slot on my les paul. Works very well!

That's the guitar I own, the usa custom shop Washburn Solar white mate...but with the hipshot bridge. I love this guitar...it is a master build, the quality is extremely great. I'm very happy to have this legacy of guitar in my collection.
I love Washburn. I have an EC29 in red and black that my Dad gave when I started playing. The bridge and the jack need some love, but it’s fucking crunching as hell and lightning fast.

Awesome! I'm planing on starting to play guitar again, after 20 years away and some of that is due to your videos. I wish I could buy a Solar Guitar, I really think they are awesome but they are so expensive here in Brazil! Unfortunatelly I can't aford one at the moment but mabe one day....
i just ordered my first guitar maintenance products , the last thing i thought i would ever do .
i just got a 2019 ibanez 7 string in fluorescent green 3 days ago , it was my first expensive guitar and somehow it made me a responsible guitar man person .

Exactly this morning, i used toothpick to shim my low E which had 68 in it, to fit a 46, worked great

ola next time u want to do that use a piece of guitar string and put under the string it works for a temporary quick fix! absolutely bad ass guitar and love these videos!
If you wanna fix that nut slot, use baking soda and super glue. It basically makes a materiel as hard as plastic. Tape off around the nut first, only expose the actual slot because it needs to be liquid super glue. Then just file it down to the correct height.
I just watched a StewMac vid about baking soda and super glue being a decent filler for the nut.

I second the motion. If it’s in the works, I really hope the 5-string scale length is longer than 35”. many of the Solar guitars on offer are 26.5” for good reason; no reason basses shouldn’t follow suit.

Those thin Graphtech tusq Picks (cutouts) also make good neck & nut shims... i was looking forward getting that guitar model, looked at the washburn site and also the black one coz i like the binding & the rev headstock & the overall build quality,,, but unfortunately they don't make it anymore...
The Washburn run was awesome and it led to Solar but it would have been AWESOME to see how a relationship with Ibanez would have played out. Maybe he could have made a modern take on the white UV7. A guy can dream.
