Fantabulous cats in teacups stitch markers and leafy stitch stoppers were generous gifts by friends. I don’t know where they came from. But I assume a well-stocked knitting and/or yarn shop would be a good place to start.
Fun fact: These are the glasses I wear in my day-to-day. They’re called FL-41 and can reduce the number of migraine attacks in people where bright light and sunlight are a trigger (hello, it me). I prefer the look of my other glasses though, which is why I usually try to swap before filming when I can manage.
Watching this on my lazy morning and I have my windows and doors open to air things out. The breeze and gentle birdsong from outside my house blended in magically with the breeze and birdsong in the video! Surreal moment of feeling like we were both sitting outside at the same time picking away at projects. Very lovely. I don't have the head for knitting or crochet but this looks gorgeous!
That sounds like such an incredible morning to be enjoying. Honoured to have been part of it in a small way!
Watching your cat chirp and purr at you while you knit so serenely is so calming I could watch this all day. The cowl is so pretty too! :)
She is such a talkative cat! But her purrs are very quiet. ❤️
What a beautiful cowl! I unfortunately live in the Southern United States where it is quite warm and our winters are mild. I could definitely make one of these for my mom though. She lives in Bergen, Norway and would definitely get use out of this. Might keep her from losing her scarf on the bus, too. 😂
As always I really enjoyed your video. I have been suffering with ophthalmic migraines for years and recently it has been a lot worse. I can really relate to the fact that repetitive tasks help after my brain feels like it has been through the wringer.
Wishing you only the best❤
It is such a soothing thing to do when you are well enough to be somewhat upright, but not well enough to do anything but rest. ❤️
My comment ended up in this video! My life is complete! Yassssss. I envy greatly the colour. Lovely.
It is the best colour! 🌳🧶
such a comforting video! also I've been knitting for most of my life, but somehow never thought to try it during migraine recovery? maybe I should!
Worth a shot! I will say, I am glad many hours of ribknit came first. Pattern only from day two and I still had to frog parts of it. 😅
Wow that’s beautiful,great job.
Thank you.
While watching your crazy quilt video, I was really curious about the scalloped edge on the knitted cowl, as I was not familiar with a knitted edging/bind-off pattern that provided such a gorgeous detail. So! It is crocheted! LOL! :0) I never would have thought of that. It is lovely! I am a huge fan of Drops patterns, having knitted many of their skirts. As to your pondering whether to make more knitting videos, I highly encourage you to do so! You are an extremely gifted artist. I see it in everything you make as well as your talented videography. Go for it.
I am a filthy heathen and I combine any and all techniques I know if I think they will suit the project. 😉❤️
You're awesome!
Honestly, the conversation of making your knitting entertaining surprised me. You are my favourite knitting content creator; I really enjoy the single project format rather than the typical set and outlined podcast style. I also enjoy video podcasts, but often it is a little too fast paced for me.
Wonderful cowl and as a person who suffers with chronic migraines from a neurological disorder seeing you push through is more meaningful than you might recognize.
Wishing you well.
Representation matters. ❤️
And to be clear, none of this was filmed in the middle of the attack, but in the exhaustion and soreness I often experience after.
So beautiful and serene ✨ and hoping for more easeful brain days for you ahead! I’ve been in the same boat and relying on the repetitive task of quilting and spending time outside to manage.🌷🌸🌿🧵
Some brains do be like this. We do what we can. 🙃
Oh I found the pattern. Thank you❤
I love videos of people knitting! I love to put them on and knit along, have a little snatch of company from the comfort of my own home. It doesn't hurt that I've been admiring this cowl, too! This was a lovely quiet and peaceful moment, thank you!
I am so happy you are knitting along! That is exactly what I love about cozy crafting videos too.
This is wonderful. I've never tried knitting, but I can crochet a bit, and my friend promised to teach me.
This is a beautiful project, thanks for sharing.
I am the opposite! I started with knitting as a child and have been taught some crocheting by a friend as an adult. I hope your friend does teach you and that you both have a great experience sharing crafts!
That cowl is stunning! Beautiful work. I wish I could handle things being close to my neck so I could make one for myself! I hope you are feeling better soon and please give Soot a pet from me all the way over in Australia
The Madam is currently basking in a sunspot and accepts your pets by proxy. :)
Love that colour
Agreed! 💚
Beautiful. And nice calm videoing too. Thank you Kristine
I am glad you enjoyed it!
such a practical garment, I don't like scarves, but I would find a lovely cowl very useful. Love your videos as they are calming and enjoyable to watch .
I find cowls very useful too! Especially when the ends of a scarf might unravel and get in the way.
I love all your videos. Thanks for the inspiration. I hope your migraines ease up soon ❤
Thank you! I do have to live with them, but usually I can manage to work around them. ❤️
Truly beautiful, Kristine. Thank you for sharing a much needed respite.
❤️
This was a joy to watch!
The calm, the craft and the cat 😊 just bliss ❤ tak
That green is my favorite! I'll have to give this a shot. Beautiful work as always! ❤
I do so love this shade of green too! 🥰
Beautiful work, Kristine! Hope the process helped you rest and recover. I always appreciate your thoughtful take on handwork and life in general.
Thank you. ❤️ it is always so encouraging to see people finding comfort in sharing experiences.
All the closeups of Madam Overseer Soot makes this video adorable alongside your gorgeous Cowl. That green is soothing to the eye. I adore your slowpaced chatting and well accompanied music choices. Have mention that Soot adding her little touch of black fur to it in the end 😂😂👌Made me laugh out loud. "There Möther, Now its finished"
It is known. 🐈⬛😂
Beautiful cowl and it suits you so much! And a beautiful atmospheric video. Love the moments in nature. Can't wait to try my hand at this as well, I think I know what someone from my family will get under the Christmas tree now:-) Subscribed.
I wish winter would come earlier and stay longer around this part of the world haha.
Anyway, I really love the leaves on this, just the cowl itself looks just as comfortable and calming as the video.
I hope you can feel better soon and that your brain gets rest, comfort and joy.
Can comfirm. It is very soft and comfortable. 🥰
The purl between the leaves makes them stand out more I think if you did change to plain you would need one purl stitch either side of the 🍂 to make it stand proud
Yup! I woulf keep the purl stitch on either side but leave off the rest. But I’m also lazy and following the pattern as is is easy in a way too.
@@KristineVike I know the feeling
I'm here in the comments just to say how delightful your captions are.
❤️
Thankfully you posted on Instagram, because CZcams was 't showing your video in my subscription tab not my homepage. Where can I file a complaint of not being served this absolute gem on a Silver platter when I want it?
I've really enjoyed knitting together with you 😁
CZcams do be like that sometimes. I’m glad you found it nevertheless!
After an attack of menaires I have what I call slow days when the brain and body as you said feel very foggy ,it is a beautiful cowl pattern .one day I must try it out.
Do recommend. I love mine and find it so helpful in feeling warm.
Knit one purl one, knit two.... remove fur.... where was I, oh yes, knit two... blast! Put stitch back on needle. knit two!
Beautiful, thank you.
I find knitting on a sideways lace edging helps the loose cast off
"How do I make it engaging?"
Label it ASMR
I mean, I try. 😂
Love this!! It is beautiful!
So gorgeous ❤
Kristine have you seen Indoora world slow living embroidery, cooking ,and a story that goes through some of her videos it reminds me of you as I watch it
I was watching your cat while you worked and your hands not in my focus look like cat "kneading biscuits " type motion ^^
Cat's passed now but their brain at 2 am: "are you breathing still? I can't tell.. I'll just lay on your face so I can feel your breath."
That does sound like excellent cat logic. I am sorry for your loss.
Very pretty 😀
Is this pattern anywhere that would be written for American knitters. ??? This is such a lovely pattern!
The website I link in the description (Drops Design/garnstudio) has a lot of different languages available for their patterns, including US and Canadian knitting terms/sizes.
If the language choice doesn’t trigger when you first click the link, maybe try clearing cookies, enter garnstudio.com, and there should be a page asking what language you prefer. Once in the right language, you should be able to search for “silver leaf” and find this pattern.
Good luck!
absolutely wonderful, now I'd love to knit that cowl, it's so cute!! er også litt sjalu for været du har der nede 🤣 her oppe lengre nord falt det senest litt snø 1.juni... 🥴 (ble heldigvis ikke liggende lenge)
Å nei! Da jeg bodde i Tromsø fikk vi snø i juli en gang. En opplevelse. 😅
The cowl is a lovely pattern, the scalloped edge is much nicer imo too. How many days did it take to complete?
Oh, I think it was about three days, including the filming. But I have made this pattern a good handful of times by then.
@KristineVike I don't know how to knit and was wondering how long a piece like your cowl would require. Thankyou so much, your friend is blessed to have a friend like you 💜 kind regards from Australia
Is there a link to your pattern for this? I love it but I’d have to follow a pattern because I’m a beginner. I think this would suit my daughter perfectly! Thank you 😊
Hello! any idea how many rows you worked once you started on the main body or what your final stitch count was?
Lindo.
Thanks for the pattern. In the video they are doing the purl stitch in a different way. Does that have a name?
I am not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean I am doing purls differently than you? That could absolutely be a thing, there are different ways to knit/purl.
But if you do purls differently they will still work with the pattern. The end result will be the same.
@@KristineVike I learned that is Norwegian purl. Fun to do and makes tension on 2x2 rib more even.
what length is your 2.5 mm needles?
40 cm works all the way (though it gets a bit full towards the end).
Delightful ❤ both the project and the video.
Pardon my ignorance but may I ask if the colored glasses are of a medical nature? Not that they're not cool enough to be a fashion item 😊
Side note: it may just be my bubble but it seems to me like we're slowly but surely normalizing (talking about) the variety of physical and mental limitations people experience and I'm happy to see it ❤
Yes, they are indeed medical. One of my primary migraine triggers are bright light and sunlight. These filter out the most problematic wavelengths and helo reduce how many migraines I get. 🙂
@@KristineVike How cool! Yay science 😁 Thanks for sharing 😊
Makes me wonder if there are specific frequencies that play a role in migraine-related sound sensitivity and if there could be special migraine earbuds...
I was going to say: and whether there are specific wavelengths that trigger my rosacea and could we have specific filters for those but I guess yes there are, they're called UV and that's what's SPF is 😅
Anyway, wildly off-topic. Thanks again for the lovely video!
Where can I find the pattern?
I wish I could knit. Sigh
Sending you encouraging vibes to find some tutorialsand have a go. 🥰
Where can i find the pattern for this?
In the description.
Your cowl is beautiful! I a knitting socks as I watch you knit!✌❤🇨🇦
What an excellent idea! Somehow there’s always room for more socks.
Very pretty 😀
