The problem with these other sets of fans is that they think we’re still stuck back in the 70s as well. They see as some sort of accolade to fight English fans, see Russians in the Euros. We’ve all moved on from those days but those mugs are still backwards
EDIT- For people taking this out of context - yes of course English aren’t perfect, my point is we don’t really have organised fights/firms like European teams do. As much as kids think their team has a ‘’firm’’, they really don’t. European teams still think it’s some sort of achievement to fight the English teams given it was what they were known for in the 70s

The agenda against English fans being hooligans must be addressed, this is a consistent issue leaving prejudice against all English fans regardless of their behaviour.
It's not an agenda. English fans, for the large part, act awful in other countries. Just because they weren't to blame this time and others doesn't mean they haven't acted poorly in the past. Most the time it happens outside the stadium such as England fans peeing in the canals in Italy or starting fights in the city of Barcelona.

After watching that footage back the AZ stewards were standing around with their hands in their pockets watching the ultras rip the wire fencing down. As soon as it fell they turning and furtively crept away. They wanted no part of it!

I’m an arsenal fan, if I was in the pub watching us vs spurs or Chelsea or Utd and we lose just accept the banter buy someone a pint have a laugh move on. Football isn’t exactly important enough to fight over. If you can’t buy the opposition a pint over a game and handle losing the same way as winning you should watch something else
As a foreigner and a Chelsea fan i agree. Violance has no place in sports between fans, banter yes violance no. Share a pint take a loss like a man and also behave respectifully after a win. The European Conference league is probably the equivalent of the former cup winners cup, I hope West Ham win it. I didn't hear of the Ultra's causing any trouble when they played in the capital?
There were minor reports of verbal abuse towards Jansen's partner and kids (which I condemn too) but security acted quickly to move them out of harm's way. Alkmaar's situation was definitely levels more dangerous.
@ Danny Crotch - The European Conference is the equivalent of the old 'Inter-Cities Fairs Cup' - The Europa Cup (although not quite the same as the Cup-Winners Cup) is the one which has replaced that competition. Hope this helps Danny. .

I remember huge graffiti on the wall saying wanted for the death of West Ham John Lyle, and the turnstiles being so narrow that our late friend Nubbs had to get in through the big doors, I shall be rooting for em in the final.

I was at Lyon and Frankfurt last season where we were caged in. We were also kept back after the whistle at both matches for up to an hour. I was also at Seville but it wasn’t as bad there. However, we were kept in for about 90 minutes afterwards.

In London, 300 AZ fans on the VIP were heavily threatened at the 0-1.
Women and children of, among others, Janssen family (trainer) and Eenhoorn family (director AZ) and even Marco Borsato ( Dutch singer) had to leave very quickly, were brought to safety by the police. Some have been beaten.
Now there were 200 invited WHU fans between the families of AZ, then an English hooligan flag was shown. And some drunk WHU fans had some provocative behavior.
That was the reason, the rest is history, but that AZ supporters attacked family members is absolute nonsense! I was in this stand.
Again I don't talk it well, but when this happend at Ajax or Feyenoord supporters wouldn't have taken this either. Only much worse

I felt ashamed yesterday, witnessing that in 'our' stadium. The police was a joke, came in only after the harm was done. This scum should be permanently banned from a stadium.
Then again, what happened at the West Ham Stadium was the same.
The retribution factor in this is all but neglected. Even by you: saying its only on social media and said by AZ's manager, while even big media oulets already confirmed this happened last week (like Reuters). Do your homework properly please. Just as AZ's security should have done its homework (and clearly failed).
Maybe the UEFA also should look into the prerequisite of an x number of tickets available for opposing teams as hospitality on the home ground. Although, it should be normal to have fans mixed i.m.o., but apparently too many people can't seem to behave when they see opposing fans.

Security should have been alarmed by these incidents back in the Olympic Stadium and at the towns center earlier yesterday, but clearly wasn't. This has been a huge mistake on AZ's part, unfortunately, and I fear the repercussions by the UEFA.
