I think the term resting a player as opposed to dropping a player is preferable and in actual fact is more to the point. Tournament football should be all about how you utilise the squad of players to its best advantage. Surely rotating will have its rewards if, as and when you progress.

yes, the system is a problem, players out position ect, left side, imbalance and all that, but in the end the players got step up and go for it, regardless. they got to take players on, run at defenders, pass fast, accurate, be decisive, make space, run in to good positions, work as a team. there is no excuse regardless of all the other tactical factors.
Eazy to beat england. High press, Direct forward play to their Left hand side with overlapping fullback and just be clinical. Take a Lead, then go into a Low block and watch England pass it around aimlessly for the rest of the game.
