Well done, great to see these Irish companies being given recognition, giving real employment throughout Ireland,I would suggest that a lot of them originated from the state companies, sugar company, bord na mona, esb ,railway, and others.the emphasis on vocational training would have helped as well. The IDA and coras trachtala would have rowed in to help the small startup and encourage them to expand and reach global markets. I think it's a national disgrace that our state media never bother to cover our world class engineering companies. One would be forgiven for thinking that our exports and exports employment depend solely on foreign multinationals and tech companies. Thanks again for the video, and yes if you see fit cover them all in the future.

It's a shame that large, foreign, multi national companies that pay little or no tax in this country are held to the asteem that they are.. There is fantastic talent, skill, and entrepreneurial ambition in this country but it largely get neglected unless its in the tech or pharma sector.. and yes, I think I'll need to do a part two of this video 🤣 Thanks for watching 👍

Interesting and different video. Belmac would be a popular brand on lot of dairy farms. I have a 991 wrapper bought in iirc 1990. Still going strong, done 15 years contracting and still wraps my own silage. Had to rebuild the load arm last year and replace the odd belt, other than that shes like it was on day one.

Great video. Refreshing to have somebody considering Irish manufacturers and rightly illustrating their worldwide presence and competitiveness. Looking through the comments I’m surprised and disappointed that Dooley trailers are gone out of business since 2021. Could the Carlow manufacturing industry have stemmed from the Sugar Factory days where maybe the associated equipment fabrication and maintenance personnel training may have produced entrepreneurs with business acumen and ambition? Keep up the good work.

As a Kilkenny man and a neighbor of carlow its amazing the amount of engineering firms in carlow and every one of them are top class to say the least. A friend of mine had tullow engineering muck spreaders and slurry tanks back in the 80s

There was alot of country lads went to carlow college or whatever it is called now that studied mechanical engineering and put their knowledge to good use, there was also Thompson engineering in the town and oak park agricultural research centre in carlow and I think it was Burnside engineering that made hydraulic rams in the area which all feeds into the carlow kildare and kilkenny area of agricultural engineering

New Zealand is definitely a very important user of mechanical farming, it's all about economics, our farmers had to change back in the 80s from small family farm's because of the loss of England as our main market. We are nowadays a world leader's in farm's. 😊😊😊.

Carlow is close to 3 ports (Rosslare/Dublin/Belview), agri colleges are about an hours drive, labour from 9 counties is not too much of a drive so it makes sense why so many companies are based there. Sadly a great trailer builder of the 70's-00's Dooley's closed in 2021. Also I don't think Cross still make beet harvesters anymore, going by their site you can't click into the icon.
