This is where the serenity prayer comes in. I’m not an overly religious person but I do believe and when I’m in a rut or going through a severe anxiety episode I think of the serenity prayer that goes like this, God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. Another one I say to myself is use your smile to change the world but don’t let the world change your smile. Take care Dee. Another great video and message as usual!🙂
I love both of those. Anyone can use the serenity prayer simply by not including the first word. Rather - your plea, your prayer is put out to the universe and, if you say it out loud, to yourself as a reminder to do the best that you can. Thanks for the reminder. D
I am struggling with this thing called acceptance. Grieving horribly and unable to control the tears or very powerful emotions. I have much to be thankful for Dee and yet I cannot seem to feel anything other than sorry for myself. I sat crying in the Sainsbury’s car park earlier today and this beautiful young man asked if I was ok, was so very kind. I have to accept that I’ve lost my beloved soul partner, I know about gratitude and neuroplasticity and yet I cannot get control of these really dark thoughts. You are such a lovely lady Dee. ❤
Thank you Dee for that calming and gentle reminder to start the day. My anxieties stem from catastrophic thinking about situations that might never happen - and over which I have little control anyway! It’s daft but potentially crippling mentally. So thank you and I hope you have a good day today.
Take care of yourself first, then decide if you would like to do something for others. The idea of giving to others first / constantly to make you a good person is a damaging, toxic lie society pushes. If people took care of themselves first, many of the problems would not exist in the first place.
Really need to learn from this. I'm 4 years retired and 72 but can't settle and relax. I am only able to relax when I'm volunteering or looking after my little granddaughter, otherwise I feel useless.
Yes, don’t let anyone else to take the wheel of your ship….in my case my kids…..if anyone can sink a ship emotionally, they can, by telling me that i failed as a mom. I KNOW i was the best mom I could be and I have the scars to prove it, but apparently it was not enough.I am still the bad guy. There is only so much pain a mother’s heart can bare, apparently, it’s not over til they say it’s over. Humbly I say,I can’t let them take over my ship lest I sink altogether.❤
My Grandfather always had an interesting approach to things outside of his control. Having fought in and helped with the liberation of France and Germany during the second World War, he never sweated the small things. When he was passing at a ripe old age, we were all gathered around his beside. He awoke from a nap and trivially asked "Am I dead yet?". To which we replied "No Grandpa..." in wide-eyed astonishment. He then said "Okay, I'm going back to sleep then." He knew the death transition process was outside of his control but by goodness, he was going to get a nap in before crossing into the great beyond! 😅
Thank you Dee... So very glad that I have found you. Your voice is like a dear friend visiting me and sharing. I appreciate so much your thoughts shared to all of us. Bless you, 70 and alone in Idaho
Morning Dee. Thank you for these reminders which we (especially I) definitely sometimes forget. My heart has always lead my brain…not good. A bit of a curse and a Blessing, in my opinion. I used to think I could fix/help anyone…especially family. Took a long while for me to learn that some behavior/issues are genetic …. Or that no matter how much love I gave/give, as my children and grandchildren grew older, they definitely changed….as we all do. They disagreed, had to make some mistakes along the way, find out for themselves….and it took me so long to stop ‘rescuing’ /‘helping’ them from some dire consequences. My mom was very stern. So…even tho she loved me (sometimes I truly wasn’t sure), I’d have to take responsibility for my own choices/actions….with very little help from her. My dad was gone by then (heart issues) and I’m an only child. On my own I raised my daughters to be best of my ability…and, still, at times, my younger daughter (who also passed from heart issues) seemed genetically predisposed to the emotional issues her dad (my ex) had almost his entire life. Not thinking clearly, quick to anger, quick to laugh, a bit of self medicating (from 2 doctors who I didn’t feel were helping her at all). She was a loving child…good mom…loved animals (was a vet tech for many years)…but she could be quite ‘up and down’ sometimes. Miss her. I fear my eldest grandson has some of these issues…yet, at 33 yrs old, no matter what I do or say….he makes some unwise (in my perception) choices and there are usually some difficult consequences with which to cope. I’m learning. I can care. I can love him, but there are boundaries and limits I’ve set now. Not easy…but for my sanity and peace of mind, I’m not bailing him out of his emotional/financial issues. Can’t do it. Sorry for the long ramble. I always feel as if I’m directly speaking to you after I watch a video of you gently reminding us about ‘living life’. Thank you, Dee. Very much. I’ve learned … after several years…to not over react…and to go do some weeding or reading or slow deep breathing. I even whisper to my outside plants and the feral cats outside…as well as to my own 2 inside cats. This truly calms me down…and helps to remind me that I’ve never really had any control over any situation which has occurred over 76 yrs of me being here. 🫶💞💞💞
Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your feelings, your life with us. It is a comfort when we come to the realisation that we cannot control others. Even when we have concerns for them - yes, we can advise, suggest but they control what they do with this and doing nothing is a choice - ok may be their default choice. It is sort of reassuring when patterns can be seen and there is a recognition that genetics, or other influences are involved. The blame does NOT fall on our shoulders - adults have control over themselves.. and, in theory, should accept responsibility for outcomes. Take great care. D
Thank you for your wise words of wisdom. They are so helpful and much needed at this time. Yes, I do save. I was taught by my elderly relatives to put away for a rainy day. I have also encouraged my children. They are only starting to recognise its value 😊
Thank you! I resigned this morning. I took control and responded to an extremely toxic work environment with my self respect and integrity intact. You have reminded me of a couple things which I needed to keep in mind tonight as I contemplate my future. I walked away with nothing in an effort to preserve my sanity but honestly, I am unsure of where to now. You have reassured me that I have actually done the right thing, for the right reasons. Thank you so much.
@@Cheshirelass I have nothing in the pipeline. As a white woman of 61 in South Africa another job will not be easy to find. There is so much more to say but this is not the place. Thank you for caring.
Good day Dee🌺 yes I do save these days by no longer buying a coffee out for the both of us on our daily walks. It’s £3:60 a coffee x 2= £7:20 that’s costly to us to have the 5 days a week little treat. We now save £144 per month . We take our own when we can. We much prefer to use this money on fuel to get us to the seaside several times a month to enjoy mini breaks that lift our spirits or blow away the cobwebs. Now this is a Treat 🌊🌊🌊 Just goes to show what a cuppa costs these days. A Fair Exchange I’d Say 🦋🌅💙 blessings to all .

Yes we must accept that we cannot and should not control everything and especially others. These days I just remind myself 'just let it go,' when others are exercising their control in situations and when challenging them just causes confrontation. I like your messages that are from life experience.
Great musing for this morning Dee. You are a breath of fresh air with your common sense comments and mischievous sense of humour. Can sooo visualise the scene you described with the cyclist! Looking forward to your next post. Take care. X
I needed this comment because at the moment I’m living with full awareness I have always let another take the wheel of my life and I’ve been crushed . I say this knowing there is little time (I’m 80) to live in a different way and this is just devastating me 😢
Hi Dee. Just recently learned about your channel. Love it. I have a special request for you, i am a senior who just lost two best long term friends to death - one month apart. My heart is broken. These were my go to people. Now i am alone. Can you please speak to how i go about living my life now. The grief is so painful and my fears and loneliness are overwhelming. Thank you.
Thank you for joining us - and sorry that you have lost your friends. Please, do check out my playlists as these include lots of walks out in lovely places with me chatting away as if you are next to me. It would be lovely if you could join us. You could also check out my video on grief - czcams.com/video/xD0WclRfzAs/video.html Take care, D
I hold my hand up - I had to Google Epictetus. Having done so, I would say it's not a matter of a risk of me sounding like him - I am in the same ball park, singing from the same hymn sheet. Thank you so much for expanding my knowledge - much appreciated. D
I like to think about all the history, everything that went into the moment unfolding in front of me....whether "good" or "bad". It's uniquely mine, through my perspective. And will never happen exactly the same again. Boggles my mind. ❤❤❤❤
@Cheshirelass and if they hadn't survived....we wouldn't be here. I nursed an old man who had been a sailor on the ship that pulled my Dad out of the North sea with a bullet in his head. HMS Penelope disobeyed orders and turned back to rescue drowning men. .....hence ME....and my sisters. My patient cried when I told him that. Each moment, unfolding.......
@@amanitamuscaria7500 Wow that is amazing - I am about to record a piece on 'coincidence' - do you mind if I include this in it? No problem if you prefer me not to. D
Control is an illusion. I absolutely recognize my dependency in the way life is or God if you want to give a religious term. The very fact that one is not in control of one's life and being. It was given to you when you were born and that it is taken away at will. And what happens along the way often largely is given as well for better or for worse.
Hi Dee, I have a different outlook on the idea of control, I have no disrespect of this advice that you are sharing, I'm just looking at this in a different perspective, right, your advice is totally valid. So ,with that being said, I believe that the idea of control is an illusion, the reason being ,that no matter how focused we are on an outcome and whatever thoughts or actions we applied , what will be ,will be. It is then about acceptance, and how we find ways to accept the outcome of what is.,and make the best of it, at the end of the day , Have a Super Day, 💛❤Lynda
You are amazing... Thank you so much I really appreciate you and i really want that you make a video on detachment i really need this again thanks for today ❤

I still save. I'm 45. I'm saving because I want to retire early. There is nothing more precious than time and if I get there, I want to enjoy an early retirement.
Begin by focusing on yourself - and how you feel. Yes, we would feel angry, wronged, upset and maybe blame ourselves. Then move on to focusing on you. That you have control over - so begin to look at other things that give you comfort etc. D
dear Dee, do you have any tips and tricks for dealing with health anxiety? i feel like i have tried everything but itd just getting worse. Its already so bad that I cannot decide if everything what im feeling is in my mind or physical.
Have you checked out my earlier videos listed under my playlists - Mental health etc Relaxation etc Self Not sure if this one is included - czcams.com/video/iKeZsool_x8/video.html Have you seen a medical practitioner, or a therapist - a lot of my clients came for help with anxiety - you are far from alone. Do take care. D
I deal with health anxiety too and I know how lonely and frightening it can feel. Cherellethinks is a therapist that deals only with health anxiety and her CZcams channel and instagram page has helped me. Just remember that you are not alone and lots of people deal with this and you can recover from it.
greetings, good morning, it would be really good if abusive people would change into good. a lot of them basically..something. i know one person who became a r*pist and misogynist because his own mother abused him. yes, he suffered but he did something really bad to people instead of heal and control his own life a lot of people need help, control of their own lives and don’t project on others every one of us deserve to spend this life good
Oh that it were so. I worked for 20 years counselling survivors of all forms of abuse. Actually found that very few survivors went on to be perpetrators. Some feared that they may and directed their lives accordingly going from surviving to thriving. D
6:44 we don’t really save because there’s no point, when inflation can make what you saved worth so much less in so little time, as a young person, it seems like the more intelligent play to spend money now on things that can further my advancement, gym membership equipment to build up my health etc, than it is to save for something that can increase in price. If I build up my knowledge I have the power to earn more later

These days I just remind myself 'just let it go,' when others are exercising their control in situations and when challenging them just causes confrontation. I like your messages that are from life experience.
Very true. D
Great musing for this morning Dee. You are a breath of fresh air with your common sense comments and mischievous sense of humour. Can sooo visualise the scene you described with the cyclist! Looking forward to your next post. Take care. X
Just had to re-watch myself as I couldn't recall a cyclist.. it was a runner!! Not that it makes any difference. D
@@Cheshirelass ooh I do beg your pardon, it was indeed a runner! That'll teach me to reply in a hurry.😉 Thank you for your graciousness. ☺️💕
God bless you Dee enjoy your content…
Thanks much. D
Thank you Dee for encouragement and food for thought. Have a beautiful blessed day🙏🌷
I needed this comment because at the moment I’m living with full awareness I have always let another take the wheel of my life and I’ve been crushed . I say this knowing there is little time (I’m 80) to live in a different way and this is just devastating me 😢
Take care - and grab the rest of your life and make the most of it D
Thank you Dee for being so realistic and down to earth. Your voice is sweet and soothing.
Oh thank you! D

Thank you.

Dee you're at risk of sounding like Epictetus (Stoic). I enjoyed your wisdom here.
Glad that I am not the only one whose mind gets boggled! When working on my ancestry - I am into the where/what/who of the people who form my roots! D
@Cheshirelass of course, Dee. No problem. I'm happy to help in any way. ☺️
@@amanitamuscaria7500 Thank you so much. Would you like me to include your name - or not? D
Control is an illusion. I absolutely recognize my dependency in the way life is or God if you want to give a religious term. The very fact that one is not in control of one's life and being. It was given to you when you were born and that it is taken away at will. And what happens along the way often largely is given as well for better or for worse.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. D
Good Morning and Thank You for this video❤
Good morning! D
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, D

I still save. I'm 45. I'm saving because I want to retire early. There is nothing more precious than time and if I get there, I want to enjoy an early retirement.
I hope that you enjoy your retirement when it happens - but also enjoy your time in the here and now. D

Hi Dee
444 :)
how to deal with being wronged intentionally by bad people?
Begin by focusing on yourself - and how you feel. Yes, we would feel angry, wronged, upset and maybe blame ourselves. Then move on to focusing on you. That you have control over - so begin to look at other things that give you comfort etc. D
💙💚💐
@@Cheshirelass let me ponder on that
@@ErPaige515 👍
morning Dee hope thee well 🥰
Thank you - may your inner child flourish. D
You're like my online grandma:D❤
dear Dee, do you have any tips and tricks for dealing with health anxiety? i feel like i have tried everything but itd just getting worse. Its already so bad that I cannot decide if everything what im feeling is in my mind or physical.
Have you checked out my earlier videos listed under my playlists -
Mental health etc
Relaxation etc
Self
Not sure if this one is included -

Have you seen a medical practitioner, or a therapist - a lot of my clients came for help with anxiety - you are far from alone. Do take care. D
I deal with health anxiety too and I know how lonely and frightening it can feel. Cherellethinks is a therapist that deals only with health anxiety and her CZcams channel and instagram page has helped me. Just remember that you are not alone and lots of people deal with this and you can recover from it.
greetings,
good morning, it would be really good if abusive people would change into good. a lot of them basically..something. i know one person who became a r*pist and misogynist because his own mother abused him. yes, he suffered but he did something really bad to people instead of heal and control his own life
a lot of people need help, control of their own lives and don’t project on others
every one of us deserve to spend this life good
Oh that it were so. I worked for 20 years counselling survivors of all forms of abuse. Actually found that very few survivors went on to be perpetrators. Some feared that they may and directed their lives accordingly going from surviving to thriving. D
The Mrs Doubtfire of our time ❤
Now that is a comparison that has never been made before! D
@@Cheshirelassreally? You have the same calm demeanor that brings peace to those around you.

@@Cheshirelass hahaha no, it was supposed to be a compliment 💕

6:44 we don’t really save because there’s no point, when inflation can make what you saved worth so much less in so little time, as a young person, it seems like the more intelligent play to spend money now on things that can further my advancement, gym membership equipment to build up my health etc, than it is to save for something that can increase in price. If I build up my knowledge I have the power to earn more later
Good point! D
