      Average of over 57 in test cricket is nothing to joke about. Home average over 60 and away average of 53. No surprise that even after all these years he's middling them.
      Dont know why he struggled in India and SA given he could play on fast swinging bouncy pitches and was a very good player of spin.
      I'd like to look into this more.

      As an Aussie, Kumar is one of my absolute favorite commentators, impeccable English, outstanding knowledge, coupled with politeness and like-ability. Just wish he and Gilly were commentating the current Aus-Sri Lanka tests together, the two greatest WK-Batsmen of all time in the comm box would be amazing.

      Form I temporary. Technique is permanent. That's why Sanga was much more successful than, for example, Mahela, who was arguably more talented. Mahela had relatively long periods where his form left him. Sanga was the hardest worker in the team, and was obsessed with perfecting technique over natural talent.

      It always was, but to be fair, here he knows what every ball will be, where it will be and how fast it will be. Batsmen typically get unbalanced playing something they were not quite anticipating. I’d argue any pro batsman is going to look balanced in this kind of supremely predictable “drill”… not as elegant, but balanced.

    Going through some of the comments I feel very proud as a Sri Lankan but I have to tell you when Sanga started no one thought that he would go this far...Comparatively he was different to some of the other players around the world at that time.This man is a pure example of sheer hard work and never give up attitude. Perfect role model for youngsters all around the wolrd.

      He is great but I consider him a selfish one..he retired when there was absolutely no backup for him to b replaced.. he was scoring heavily as well . Srlianka which is struggling I feel he is one of many reasons of it... Ab Deviliers is another such case.. Somebody tell AB that hitting sixes to "b class" IPL bowlers cannot help you to be called a legend of the game, U r just an entertainer that's it.

    I had the pleasure to watch Kumar live at the oval when he was at Surrey, a truly incredible player. He made 76 I think and Jason Roy made 99 against Worcestershire in the one day cup.

    Apart from being winded at the end of this batting session, Sanga doesn't seem to have lost a step. With six months of fitness work he could step right back into the squad. This man is an absolute legend of the game.
