imo Chris Pratt/ MARIO ONLY said like 2 LINES and in the 2nd one you CAN HEAR the accent when he says MUSHROOM KINGDOM HERE WE COME

Mario did originally had a Brooklyn accent, they temporarily made the Mario bros from Brooklyn back in the days, that's why they're making Chris Pratt do Mario's original scruffy Brooklyn accent, you slightly hear the accent on his last line in the trailer. The stereotypical high-pitched Mario came later for sound effects in games to appeal to children.

But Chris Pratt has done VA before. (Lego Movie) And plenty of animated movies use famous Hollywood actors.

i mean, they all sound American, and that last bit was kind of Brooklyn Italian American

Man you are so right, why did they feel the need to attach a big celebrity name to Mario? Mario doesn't need that to be recognized or to attract people to the movie theaters! Some people are saying that Pratt is doing a Brooklyn accent but I don't hear it? Maybe when we get to listen to more lines, they literally showed just 2 lines from Mario, could it be they aren't as confident in him? It's kinda weird. But yeah, definitely we need actual voice actors in animated movies, not just big celebrities with no experience in voice acting, it just makes it distracting watching a movie and just hearing X Celebrity instead of the character.

It’s such a bizarre casting in my opinion. At least I know Bowser and Toad sound good and the visuals look amazing so I’m still hopeful
