Queen - Long Away (Official Lyric Video)
/ queenofficial - Hudba
_"For every star in heaven, There's a sad soul here today"_
"Wake up in the morning with a good face stare at the moon all day"
Their poeticism and musical talent will never cease to be dear to my heart.
“ lonely as a whisper on a star chase does any one care anyway”

As a poet, words cannot explain how much I admire May’s incredible work. I’ve written so much based on his lyrics. 😭
"For every star in heaven is a sad soul here today" literally could not more clearly define Freddie's death and us here on earth
Brians lyrics can be Relative to all existence and humanity. Especially "for every star..."
He's talking about depression maybe...
My daughter was born the day Freddie died. She says they did a fist bump, en passant. 😇😇
@@adamwilliams3963 Such a wholesome comment. Thank you for making my day, it's been tough.
This song was written in 1976, Freddie died in 1991
HIS VOICE OML I WANT TO HUG HIM
Please do for me too. I was lucky to meet him as a young girl when people thought I was a young women. He is a gentleman through and through. He is good for humanity let alone music and I now as an adult can attest to that. I truly wish him and his family the best. He is a classy good man.
Yeah, and touch his beautiful white hair.

Admirał Hax I gotta say... john deacon is a very good song writer too
john deacon....most underrated bassist in history....what a great bass line and sound!!!!!!!
A number of songs by Queen are my personal faves. However, "Long Away" takes the cake as being my ultimate fave. How this song did not become one of their greatest hits is beyond me...
When you have somebody to love on the album it kinda got pushed back. I agree 100% with you though
Well, STL is better than this song, and it’s the perfect radio song. Furthermore, STL was the first single and Long Away was much later in select countries.
Also I’d like to say this song is wonderful not to take anything away from the song what I just said. And yes, you are allowed to say that the popular songs are good, it’s not illegal to like hits. Like my second favourite queen song is ITLOTG...R which isn’t well known at all but Somebody to Love is better than Long Away idc it just is
It's a part of one of their best album, so it synthesized, with the other songs, A Day at The Races, being an album song, instead of a hit single.
Except a small number of them, how didn't all Queen songs become a hit? I think that's the question :D
This song is a real hidden gem in Queen's immense catalog of great music. So underrated. Yes it does sound like Beatles inspired but that's exactly what makes it special cause there isn't another Queen song quite like it
Exactly what I thought about similarity with the Beatles during 1:16-1:22. It sounds like The Beatles or Bee Gees song, but I don't remember the title of the song.
Maybe "I Can See Nobody" of Bee Gees. As for the Beatles : Day Tripper ?
Also during 1:44-1:50 it sounds like "Turn Turn Turn" by The Byrds, esp guitar play (12 strings ?) which was identical to Roger McGuinn of the band. Some parts also sounds a bit like "Mr. Tambourine Man" by The Byrds.
Are Queen also inspired by The Byrds, including their vocal harmony, esp when David Crosby was still in the band ?
The minute Brian started singing I had that "I'm going to love every bit of this" moment. Amazing
This song always makes me emotional. The lyrics in the second verse make me feel so soft idk how to explain it. Brian has the prettiest, sweetest voice, and he sounds so sincere and pure in this song. Nobody talks about this song, man. It needs more love.
i feel the same way, his voice is so comforting
This is Freddie singing not brian
@@foxyfrenchfrog This is clearly Brian’s singing

love how complementary their voices were with each other. the world is lucky these 4 guys found each other!!
I’m sure many will disagree with me, but I think Brian is far and away the best lyricist in the group.
His song lyrics are always my favorite!
I cite the following couplet:
And two by two
My human zoo
Powerful, concise and packed with meaning. Dr May rocks on Earth as in the heavens.
Brian May said in an interview that he always wrote his songs for Freddie specifically....❤ So I would imagine they are particularly apt.
Freddie liked songs like Don't Stop Me Now and Brian liked songs like Good Company
“Hurry put your troubles in a suitcase”
God I love that line
I have been listening to this song for 36 years and I’ve finally cracked the magic. It’s great from Brian and Roger. BUT LISTEN TO THAT BASS LINE !!
I love the Bass line at 2:10
It's amazing
One of the greatest songs ever written.
I hate how people say this sounds like Beatles. No it doesnt. It sounds like QUEEN
Sounds like Paul McCartney !
what is the problem if they sound like the beatles? they were hug fans of them.. The favourite album of brian may and roger taylor was Abbey Road and "double fantasy" was te favourite of freddie... There are other song that sound pretty similar like someday one day or references like "lucy was high as so was i" or the song of john deacon need your loving tonight that is similar to the song eigh days a week...
@@killerqueen722 those are totally excellent examples. I kinda like that they sound a little like em. It's kinda like still having the Beatles style of music still with us

Brian's voice is my best medicine from depression
I love Brian's gentle voice💞💞💞😘
This song helped me so much 3 yrs ago. It reminds me of my brother,. I had a lot going on back then and would listen to this contemplating ending my life. The lyrics alone comforted me, “hurry put your troubles in a suitcase, come let the new child play”. Every time I hear that my heart sinks, I think about the fact that I will never see the people I love grow with me. My baby brother was the only thing that was keeping me alive, I wanted to be there for him as he grew. Thank god I had this song, in 2019 I made some of the best memories. Of them being able to see the band itself, queen+ AL. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self that one day will be the day you were looking for, and it’s all going to be ok.
How Cool
You know when all this time has passed & Queen is still popular that the good bands are timeless.
Long Away is definitely one of the reasons I Love this album most out of the Queen catalog. These 4 master musicians make me so happy and between Queen & Elton John, they gave me the best soundtrack to growing up,....................a shame some standards of todays music does NOT sounds anywhere as good
I roger that. Queen's new collection have me going back to it constantly.
Ha! Roger! *wink* *wink*
The same can be said of any generation of music.
Long Away and Some Day One Day My 2 Favorites.
John's bass is delightful.
Brians voice ,is so melancholic ,his songs so distinctive, cannot be overrated ,a gift to music fans.
wow. such a great song. heavy Beatle's influence (who isn't?) but still original. Brian May is grossly underrated as a singer/songwriter. i remember hearing this song as a kid as I played that album over and over again. thanks for posting!
FUCK YOU, FUCK LENNON AND FUCK THE BEATLES, they are overrated
how is it influenced by The Beatles i may ask
~ Brian Jiminez ~ The Beatles influenced almost everything that followed them, but I'm not hearing too much of an influence here either. Some of the vocal harmonies, maybe; I can hear similarities, but I guess it's like an ink blot test; it's subjective.
~ Gustavo Ayrton Bitocchi ~ There are far more important things to be this angry over.
This was actually inspired by the sound of the burns double six guitar he's playing in it
Brian's songs are often so bouncy or peaceful, you might not notice at first how melancholy the lyrics can be. I identify a lot with his thoughts here.
White Queen - About how he once fancied a girl at uni but was too shy to approach her.
'39 - About astronauts going out to space and returning to Earth only to find out a hundred years have passed by and most of their loved ones had died.
Save Me - About a friend whose marriage had ended.
Long Away - About someone's passing.
@@m1co294Are these the actual significations of these songs or are they your interpretation? Because it's really interesting I love it
@m1co294 I just played & sang Long Away! For some reason, I was drawn to perform it to my lonely home. Perhaps my darling wife passing away a few weeks ago was the motive.
I'm trying to practice for a monthly folk sing circle (Zoom over IP), but I dare not try to do Long Away again, lest I break down sobbing.
Brian has a such sweet voice
And he can also write "Tie Your Mother Down!"
That's why Anita looked at him and said, "That's what I want!"
Just a tobacco piper who loves Queen popping in to say hi to every one!!! Merry Christmas!!!

Brilliant song, just brilliant, nothing more to say about it.
Thank you Queen, for all the beautiful music, as well as caring about the fans knowing the lyrics and also leaving the comment sections open! peace!
Queen really sang all kinds of music. such a terrific band.
I wish they would play this and Some Day One Day more. Sick and tired of We Will Rock You on the radio.
Sometimes I'm really glad they don't play them. Because those mean incredibly much to me and I don't want them to get "destroyed" by konstant repeating. (Kind of happend to Bohemian Rhapsody for me; it's really difficult to avoid hearing it all the time when you watch tons of Queen interviews.) However, they'd obviously absolutely deserve to be played and I'd be happy for Brian if they were. (Also, poor people don't know what they're missing.)

My favorite song sung by Brian along with Some Day One Day!
Love the different flavors that Queen created.Love how Queen shared lead vocals.Brians voice sublime and warm.Roger everything from the most powerful raw scream to an unbelievably high pitched operatic note, clear as a bell, and then you have The Great Freddie Mercury capable of singing notes some thought inhumanly possible, falsetto to off the register with power!Ive.been a huge Queen Fan for 40 years and there music will Never get old to me.There music and concerts have given me endless years of joy and will till the day I die where they will play my last Queen song. For Real!God save Queen!
I love Brian May's guitar playing in this one. I love the melody too but I love the guitar in this song more than any other Queen did.
Just remember though, Brian didnt play the guitar solo 🙂
Honestly Brian May is a phenomenal song writer. I love this song and so many others he has written ❤

Brian sings beautifully.
the amount of satisfaction I get when they sing the first *did we leave our way behind us* is unreal
This song is ART
For those wondering what Brian says immediately after the 'Such a long, long away' and 'I'm looking for' phrases @3:22, it is 'Dream away'.
Happy birthday Brian!
This song is one of my all-time favourites since its release. It brought me to tears then and still does.
At the end of this song I always in my mind hear the start of millionaires' waltz, which must be the next song on the album/CD. Love this and You and I best from this album even though Somebody to Love, Tie Your Mother Down and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy were the ones played on the radio back then. No bad song on the whole album, I'd say and rivals the glorious A Night at the Opera that was the album preceding it.
I adore Brian’s songs
I fell asleep listening to music and this song came on, I had the best sleep of my life. I dreamed that Brian was having a party for his birthday in a public place outside, it was daylight but it was all cloudy. Next to him was a long wooden table with a bag full of candies. I approached him, I gave him a chocolate bar as a gift and he took a lot of candies out of the bag and gave them to me, plus I wanted to take a picture with him, he agreed and didn't even ask. I stepped aside so that he could receive more people, I put my hands on my face and began to cry. I wish it had been more than a dream, but at least I got to meet him there and I'm not complaining.
I just want to say I'm physically crying (not as in a meme, I'm for real having tears coming out of my eyes) cause I am heartbroken to not be able to hug these boys...
i know exactly how you feel
Brian always makes me feel better, but I'm so proud of Freddie's live performances that I (an elderly woman now) feel as if he's the son I never had and that makes me cry, being so proud of him! And despising all the people who say stupid things about him, Adam Lambert and every other person in the world they should understand by now! Some love the music yet still hate the people! I'll never understand!
I've been listening to this since i was a little kid when we lost our dog, little did I know that it would automatically come back to me as an adult during various times. I just hope that every soul has peace and love when they leave. Thank you Brian May for your wonderful song writing talent, that song actually helped me get over the very first loss of my life and I know this song so well now. Sadly, I this came to mind today but is also so pretty it transports me to a better place. That is the art of what you do, so once again thank you Sir Brian May.
My absolute favorite song by Queen, sorry Freddie.
Why sorry? Freddie is part of Queen and sings harmony on this.
Whatta great song! Love it so much! Much respect to you, Brian May! Thank you for your beautiful music!
this song always makes me peaceful
The greatest backing vocals in rock'n'roll by (Roger Taylor) on display at 1:32.
I used to think my record collection was a bit limited.Ac/Dc and Queen. And the usual prog rock stuff. As i get older.I think it was pretty bloody good!!.
This song reminds me of The Beatles. Brian May sounds a lot like Paul McCartney on this one.
Rubén Soto They were good friends you know
He even sounds much more McCartney-ish in Good Company. If you show it to some non-Queen expert (i.e. the ones who just listen to the Platinum Collection) most of them believe it's Paul's singing
I believe that Good Company is very much inspired by McCartney and reminds me of Honey Pie and Paul's jazz roots. I know that Brian was very much inspired by the Beatles (and has a similar style to McCartney), which is probably why I love his music so much. He is a true poet.
Agreed!
