That is one of the major problems with rack striking, The tale end bends one of the causes is people tend to turn the hands backwards and if the nipple at the end doesn't ride over the snail it bends and will cause the strike to go out of line. The rack spring can be too strong while the riveted tail can work loose and this also causes trouble, but with your experience I'm sure you know that, gathering pallets wear rack teeth wear all causing problems, wear in the pivots holes or on the pivots it all adds up to problems with striking.
Most of my bad experiences with the striking train on grandfather clocks are previous repairers doing cock up jobs, I can do a service but then spend as much time doing previous jobs properly 🤬🤬, I am trying to keep some of my videos simple & straight to the point I want to encourage people who are interested in Clock restoration not to be frightened this is not the black art some would like you to believe, I often have found that the most capable clock makers I know have no Certificates, you know them pieces of paper that go on the wall & hide the holes 😆😆.
@@clockrepairsmerseyside8303 I bought a French Grandfather Clock I think is this what told it has guitar type door opening beautiful looking working away dongs on hr and half then it Repeats 2 min past the hr I never heard this before is there a reason for it it has winding key 2 weights looks like 30 hrs I get out it I'm only getting used it ha love your CZcams videos I Subscribed to you looking forward to seen more videos. 🤔🤔🤔 not heard of this myself being honest does it strike 1 time on the half hour then the full hour strike counting out the hours
