Besides what you said about ELRS< one *huge* advantage is that you can use hardware from different vendors unlike the others. My radio is a Radiomaster, the ELRS module and some of the receivers are from happymodel and also some R9MMs and 2 R9 from FrSky that I converted to ELRS.

Not taken with digital at all, myself. Pro: quality, con: cost, weight, size, latency (not hdzero). To me, cons massively outweighs the pros.
That would be fine, let those who want to go digital do so, and those who want to remain analog, the same.
But I guess, analog stuff will gradually become harder to get and prices will go up. Unfortunately.

I have a set of fat shark hdo2's and the picture was great. More testing to be done though but, if you've got a decent'ish pair of goggles with hdmi in aleady then it's about £300-350 for a set up 👍

The final remote ID rule states, "Control station location. The location of the control station of the unmanned aircraft must be generated and encoded into the message elements and must correspond to the location of the person manipulating the flight controls of the unmanned aircraft system." Elsewhere in the document they mention the real-time location of the operator.

Cars have registration plates, planes have their registrations painted on. In case of unmanned aircrafts unless you have 3-4m wingspan plane you won't have a place to put registration number that is large enough to be readable at 300 m and since registration plates didn't help you got radio broadcast.

I'm waiting for an ELRS reciever that does a full duplex serial/telemetry bus that is compatible with my helicopter flight controllers (EG MSH Brain2/Ikon2) & the telemetry is also compatible with ESC telemetry protocols such as HobbyWing (unless someone manufactures a BLHeli ESC with DShot & telemetry that's 200 A for 700 class helicopters), & I can see all of that telemetry on my RadioMaster.
With my current setup, I use dual band 2.4 GHz & 900 MHz. The former serves as my secondary receiver & the latter is my primary receiver. They both work in tandem with each other & if one failsafes, the other still has a solid control link to my helicopter. I am yet to see ELRS have this capability.
Until that happens, I am going to stick with ACCST.
Also, with your ADS-B Alarm, I love what you're doing there with that. However, that's not without its flaws either. Not everyone has an ADS-B transponder in their manned aircraft. Most of the manned aircraft in my area (Southland) don't have an ADS-B transponder in them (& some of those aircraft fly quite dangerously as well). For the ones that do have ADS-B transponders, its usually Search & Rescue helicopters or the occasional light aircraft what's on their way over to Te Anau, & both of those are an extremely rare sight.

To say that the AMA represented us is a bit of a stretch. We had no representation. If we had representation, I think that a better system would have been designed. Thank you for your words on the remote ID. I believe it is also more then just profit for the large corporations. I believe it is also because of the capabilities of these drones combined with the imagination and ingenuity of the hobbyist . These drones are capable of so much more and the government does not want those capabilities in the hands of every day people. Just like defensive weapons drones have the capability of being used for self defensive purposes and the government does not want that in the hands of citizens for control reasons. Look to what had happened in Ukraine, drone flying citizens of all ages, giving Russian military positions to the Ukraine military and China giving Russia the drone operators positions. That is what the government does not want. It all comes down to control of citizens.

As to the commercial operators forcing these changes of course they are. In the near future the air will be filled with commercial drones worth thousands of dollars doing all sorts of activities and accountability will be mandatory. No need for model aircraft or free style drones, according to you, neither of which have ever been a problem??? I'd debate that in a NY minute.
Remote ID is here to stay in the US as well as other countries with even stricter rules (UK) so let's just get on with it and stop whining about it. Fly your aircraft safely and responsibly and you won't een know anything has changed after Sept 2023.
