Reclaimed wood workbench. REALLY reclaimed.

- I'm building a workbench from reclaimed wood - really reclaimed. Some horse shed poles, a log from my backyard, old chipboards and so on. I'm trying to keep the costs as low as possible, and I'm trying to do it all in 7 days outside my normal job.
I would like to send a special thank you to my guests:
Shane Conlan from DIYforKnuckleheads (send him some love at)
/ shaneconlan1
Tim Greenwood from TURGWORKS (send him some love at)

In the words of Crocodile Dundee..That's not a Bench...THIS, is a Bench!! Seriously mate...one word...Brilliant! You put so much effort into your videos and the editing is top notch! Appreciate you asking me to be a part of it and l apologise for the "D Grade" acting...l promise to improve 😂 Cheers 👍😁🇦🇺
The acting wasn't that bad mate - but why'd you call him just when he was lifting that heavy bench down .... geez! 🤣🤣🤣
@@TakamiWoodshop Hahahahaha...Murphys Law Rob 👍😁
Hi Shane, that was so awesome having you as the guiding light in this build - and a part of it in more ways than you'd imagined 😜. Thank you again, you're the coolest! Also your acting is exellent, I think it's my acting that needs improvement! Hey, perhaps I should rename it, you Dundee reference is so funny. And that's my main point with this video - if we can have a little fun and not take ourselves too seriously, all is good! Thank you again!
Being yourself is a A grade, as anything gets. 100% Metode acting - and doesn't need reahersal..
Love the collaboration with uncle knackers ❤️
Love these CZcams "collabs"!! Really shows that there's a proper community of creators! Also, epic bench!!
Absolutely, we have a great community, and most of us are gettign close friends and helping each other. That's one of the best things about this.
I love the way you involve other creators. That's how we build a community, not just a workbench.
Thanks man, yeah this is much more about community and having fun than anything else.
That paper trick to notch out the odd shape, pure genius!
That was the best I could think of in the situation, and I have used it a lot after. Thanks for noticing! Jesper
Jesper you absolute bloody legend!!! I don't know wether to comment on the bench or the video but both are 10 out of 10. That was so entertaining to follow along but at the end you also had an exquisite workbench. I am in awe!! Well done mate!!
Thanks so much! I think I got lucky with this one. How are you doing?
@@JesperMakes No luck here mate, only skill and preparation. I am good thank you for asking, I am very busy making things for customers but being slack making videos!!
Jesper this is really most entertaining video ever 🌟🌟 I laughed loud when the Uncle Knackers called you 😂 You made my night !!! Thank you for this gorgeous video and amazing work 👍🏻 Stay safe
I had so much fun making this video and collaborating with some awesome makers all over the 🌎🌍
FANTASTISK!
THE FLINTSTONES WORKBENCH!
!LET"S MAKE WORKBENCH GREAT AND BIG AGAIN!
Hey that's A good title idea for the video, I might rename it. Thanks for watching and making comment 🤠. Cheers
Great intervention by your Aussie friend😂😂 and what a laugh with your mate in the UK splitting the log to make "cookie discs"...hilarious...That work bench will last a life time and more!!!...it's your editing that makes your videos so fun and great to watch...good music too...perfect combinations👏👏
Thanks 🙏
Mate! What a beauty. Didn't think I was going to like the cookies on the drawers but it fits in really well with the whole aesthetic of the bench and your work space. Bloody good edit as usual too . Suhweet! 🤙🤙
I had no idea how the drawer fronts would end up looking like when I started, it was just a crazy idea. . I haven't seen anyone else do this to their workbench, but yeah it creates some atmosphere among all that pallet wood.
I'm just getting into woodwork, and I'm so pleased to have found your channel. I made a BBQ shack from reclaimed pallets and wish I had seen your coffee table video before I burnt the blocks in the chiminea😭
I can't believe you don't have more subscribers, your work from both sides of the camera is amazing. A real inspiration. Thank you👍
Hey Andy, thank you for stopping by my friend, glad to hear you're also getting into woodworking. I'm really happy about my number of subscribers, it's not long ago that I started, so I'm really fortunate to have more than 20K at this point. Will you start making videos?
10:18 Seriously the script, editing, directing, music masterpiece sequence here.
Thanks, one of my favourite moments too. Inspired by Obi-Wan: Use the force, Luke!
Beautiful table mate. I live how you're always shouting out other woodworking diy channels, specially australians. Good on ya mate!
Thanks 👍
Great build Jesper. And superb acting skills as well 👌. Loved the cameo from Uncle Knackers and Tim, and the story narration. Beautiful editing as well 😁👍
Glad you enjoyed it! I was really nervous pressing publish on this one. You know, where's the line between something being funny and laughing with each other rather than laughing of others. And with guests in the video, how do they feel about it? With all that said, I really enjoy making videos where other makers plays a part.
Just found your channel. Its the best thing in CZcams! Keep up with the great work. The effort, the video editing... Wow!!!
Thank you! Will do!
if i didn't have to work 52 hours a week in my job then i'd love to be spending my time with projects like this .
Hope you find some time to unwind and dive into a project or two, Declan. It’s a rewarding break from the 9-5 grind!
Time or money. Most have one, very few have both. Based on the lucky people I know that have time and money, none of them do anything cool like this. They're bored. It's so sad
Jesper, you are ridiculous and an inspiration. I can only hope to be like you when I grow up.
You can do much better!
Amazing work! You also would have been a great actor! The edit where you watch him split the log was priceless!
Thanks, that was easy because @turgworks is one hell of a funny and talented guy to watch.
How am I so late to the party here! Jesper man, this is awesome, I hope it blows up massive for you! Well done, your editing is crazy good and entertaining!
Hi Mario, thanks 🙏. You're not late, the party is still on. I think this one is going pretty well now after a slow start, it could be closing 100t views in a day or two.
I'm not usually a fan of cookies but you, sir are the Cookie Monster and you have earned your place in woodworking infamy. Cheers from Amerika.
I think its the first time I'm being called a cookie monster 😂😂
Best music in a wood working video, love the community tie in
Thanks 🙏
I just stumbled across this video and I’m an instant subscriber 👍 thats an incredible looking workbench that looks like it could take anything you throw at it! I really enjoyed watching the video, great job!!
It has taken some beating without any issues so far, thanks for stopping by. Cheers from Denmark
Me too!
Jesper, hvor fantastisk!
What an amazing project! Stunning build, super edit, plenty of great humour, and a solid cast.
And bonus points for a Danish guy using Danish oil. I'll feel guilty from now on when I use it in Australia. 😂
Top job!
Thanks Jamie, just use away! I don't think Danish Oil has anything to do with Denmark 😜 .
@@JesperMakes nix, amerikansk. De prøvede at efterligne halvtredsernes danske desingmøbler.

This is the best channel that I've found in years
I'm humbled, thanks!
That workbench looks AWESOME! Job well done, Jesper. One of the few channels I enjoy watch with sometasty beer. Greetings from the north of Germany.
Cheers mate
That was amazing. At first i thought it's gonna be another boring work bench video, but the recalaimed wood made me curious...
But man was I wrong. This was entertaining, educational, interesting, creative and funny with an amazing end result. The "cookie" logs transformed the look above all expectations. Thank you good Sir. I am without a doub subscribing your channel.
Thank you very much!
Very enjoyable Jesper, those drawer fronts look terrific. Frankly I'd be too tired out to start a customer's job after all that, I mean I had to take a lie down just watching the video. Cheers mate, that was fun.
Thanks 👍 yeah I know the feeling, I also have to lay down every time I have edited one of my videos, they are sooo hard to get through ;-). Have you fully recovered?
The algorithm got me here, I had some doubt how this was going to turn out but that table with cookies is an amazing idea. Looks great!
Thanks Cali, I was in doubt also 🤠
Jesus this bench belongs into a rustic restaurant or something! Such an amazing build! A hero to your craft! I love how everything ties together in the end 💪🏽
Thanks 🙏
0:19 "I'm building a workbench from old horseshit poles..." Did I hear that right?
Yes you did
Haha the plan was to say horse shed poles, I could have said it wrong 🤣
Привет Всем из солнечного Баку - Азербайджан. Абшеронский полуостров! 💯🇦🇿✌
Thanks, take care
That bench is a thing of beauty
Thanks, actually I think so too!
That's the best youtbube woodworking video I've ever watched. Seriously. Well done.
Wow! Thank you IRecruitU! I had a lot of fun making this, glad you enjoyed it. Cheers from Denmark
I wasn't liking the cookies at first but when i saw the final result I changed my mind quick. Nice!!
Thanks
MAMMAMIA!!!! what a motivational project...I already have my bench , made more or less in the same way! But nothing but this kind of "blitzkireg" can give you such strenght to achieve tour goal! Greetings from Italy!!!!
Go for it! Cheers from Denmark!
This is one hell of a video. at first I was about to switch to another but then it caught on. brilliant.
I'm glad you stayed. Cheers mate
Exceedingly entertaining, instructive, creative and useful. You Nailed it! Not literally but you did.
Wow, thanks!
I have to say, you are a great storyteller.
Keep it up.

Thank you Danny, it makes my day to hear that. Thank you for following along. Cheers from Denmark
Wow. Incredibly good idea with the drawer front.
Glad you like it!
Jaw dropping, incredible, stunning!! ugggghhhh This is a dream workbench
Thanks Kelly! I'm so happy I built this, using it every day.
Dude when you first started with the cookies I thought it was a terrible idea. Then when you were done it was AMAZING.
Did when I started on those cookies I ALSO thought it was a terrible idea 😂
Brilliant mate, just brilliant. Loved the work, design and humor, well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Quite possibly the best content on CZcams. Let alone DIY genre solid humor gentlemen.
Thanks!
I made a 7 garden items and managed to get them in a local shop I love driving past and seeing there whole display is my stuff I built. I don't care what I get for it at this stage I'm proud to see my work displayed and making me money
Brilliant
I don't know what is more amazing. This VIDEO or the WORKBENCH.
I think I know. YOU are amazing!
👍🏻
Wow, thank you!
Hi Jesper, you are really unique person and your videos also unique. It was very interesting. Thanks a lot. Best regards, Eduard.
Thanks 🙏🙏
The best video I watched this month. ❤️ from Romania.
Best comment I read this month!
Just brilliant. Including the 2 cameos.
Skilled art made look simple. Hats off. A pleasure to watch with loads of handy tips. Not sure if someone can just build such as you do...
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Fred, build as you go is pretty easy, especially if you have a dude like uncle knackers showing you the basic construction. Thanks for the kind words.
Wow that’s what you call a proper bench Great use of the logs too
Thanks 🙏
My grandparents came from Struer Denmark they moved to America in 1910....Nice work table sir.....
Uh, I have relatives in Struer too!
@@JesperMakes My grandma's parents last name was Sorenson.... I have relatives who still live around Struer myself but I can't remember their first names...

You're awesome. I feel inspired. Thank you.

Awesome! Thank you! Many greetings from the other side of the world - Denmark.
That timber is amazing. 😊👍🏻
Thanks Jason 😁
I'm not even close enough to be called a novice woodworker, so grain of salt with my comments. When I watch stuff like this, I find it so inspiring. While you have some tools I doubt I will ever possess, I absolutely love the "just get it done" attitude you have. Also as a not-even-a-beginner, I find it so refreshing that you show your mistakes as well. Just found you today and I've already watched like 4 videos and subscribed.
On another note, tag-teaming the other channels in is brilliant and really goes a long way for people like me to show the sense of community that's out there.
Hi Grego, yeah we have a great community, thank you for your uplifting comment. Cheers mate.
This is my new favorite Channel. Jesper is amazing. I enjoy everything about his videos. The wood work is great but I love the fact that he has other builders in his videos. The world needs more Jesper.
I'm sorry, I couldn't quite hear you . . . could you please say that again? :-) hehe, thank you for watching George, I really appreciate it. Cheers from Denmark.
Good to see you channeling your inner Uncle Knackers !! The bloke is fast approaching legend status…….😂😊
In my book Uncle Knackers has been a legend for a long time 🙏🙏👍👍
This work bench is amazing!
We agree!
I love these drawers
Me too!!
Every waking free moment I have, I spend it on CZcams watching woodworkers and construction videos. After thousands of hours watching thousands of videos, I've come across your videos, and you might be my favorite of them all
P.s. I just bought a house with a garage, and I can't wait to set up my own woodworking shop finally. Any tips for a beginner, or any tools I'd be better off getting sooner rather than later ? I'm an electrician so I have hand tools and a few power tools but nothing like what I need
Hi Anthony, that is so nice of you to say that. I'm honored!
I was recently in the same situation. I would go with a miter saw, a lunchbox thicknesser, a jobsite tablesaw, a good drill and some sanders like a belt sander and an orbital sander. A track saw will also enable you to cut some long pieces like sheets of plywood very straight.
WOW!! You're very creative!! I loved the way you covered the chip-board with the log cookies! It was BRILLIANT!! Very nice! 👍😃
Thank you Kim, it makes my day to hear that. Thank you for following along. Cheers from Denmark
Just AWESOME. Shalom!
Thanks 🙏
Hahahah I love the cellphone moment!!! Great video and project! ;)
The cellphone moment was fun! Thanks for the love!
Fantastic to see so much reclaimed wood being used and the humour is great. Thank you 👍
Thanks man, appreciate it! 👍👍
The moment of the incoming call was Ultra realistic. Subscribed.
Always inconvenient 😂😂 thanks and cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰
What can I say that hasn't been said already other than you should be making movies instead of woodworking videos your editing is spot on, your thought process is brilliant and your acting is Oscar worthy... Hey if Arnold Schwarzenegger can be a household name why can't jasper be next? I'm glad I found you the CZcams algorithm is way off on this one I watch woodworking videos almost daily for the past 6 months why am I just finding you? You have a great career ahead of you. I can't wait to see what you come up with next! I've watched all your videos so hurry up post more...lol. Couple of things that are truly setting head and shoulders above everyone your use of other makers and your addition of your family your are all naturals or you have way to much time in your hands...lol.
P.S I want you to know that after watching hundreds if not not thousands of visitors you are the first person I have commented on. Keep up the fabulous job. Would love to see some if you out takes they must be great?
Thanks for the compliments and nice comment, I'm very happy you came across my channel. Don't worry I'm not going to Hollywood 😅 I like being in my workshop and think up crazy projects and videos. I'm just about launching a few new videos. Take care and good luck with your own projects. Cheers from Denmark
I'm not even a handy person but I enjoyed this video way too much. The humour, the cameos, the end product! It's just perfect.
I'm not a handy person too. They shouldn't have allowed me to have a workshop 😁😁😁
@@JesperMakes I'm glad they did! 😅
I like particularely the idea of cookie face drawers, bravo👍

Thanks Paw!
love the sketch over idea for the cookies
One of my brighter moments 😹😹
i almost never subscribe to youtube channels. in fact when people ask i hear the opposite. i made an exception in your case not only because of this video but because your whole channel and your projects are beautiful. bravo sir.
Thanks John!
Great build! I recently cleaned off some old fence posts I was using to hold down tarps over yards and yards of topsoil. Methinks I will be building my own reclaimed work bench / outfeed / assembly table! Thanks for the inspiration!
Sounds great!
Met this guy who runs a small mobile sawmill business here in Germany, and he told me that all the big timber merchants have people who drive around looking for reclaimed wood: they offer to buy up old beams when a house is being demolished etc. The wood is then sold on as super desirable reclaimed timber at eye-watering prices. Great idea, I suppose - but it makes it harder and harder to find anything for the rest of us.
Bulk trash pickup days are also a thing of the past: there used to be one or two days every year on which people could leave unwanted bulky items in front of their houses - lots of furniture, lots of solid wood, lots of treasures. Nowadays pickups are done by appointment.
But you can still find stuff if you keep your feelers out: a while ago I was unexpectedly invited to a house that was being renovated, to pick through it and take anything I like - by a guy who knew that I’m always looking for usable bits of wood. Didn’t find that much, but ended up with 8 large drawers made from beechwood, which I can use for all kinds of projects. So, keep your eyes out - people throw out tons and tons of good stuff all the time.
Thanks for the indepth comment. Reclaimed wood is definitely becoming more desirable, and also what I'm going for in my area.
i think I love your channel... greetings from Tulsa Oklahoma USA
Awesome! Thank you!
ARE YOU FOR REAL THESE VIDEOS ARE THE BEST!!
Wow, thanks.
Nicely done bench and video. It also doesn't hurt that your accent reminds me of my grandfather.

Jesper I like the cookie on your draw front as a solution. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I can't say with absolute certainty, but I may be your first female US subscriber 😲🤪 In messing around on pallet wood floor creations, I bumped into the coffee table, and the rest is history. Now, this work bench has me beyond excited for my 40x30 barn flipping shop. Yes, this girl is absolutely going after a workbench. Why? Because I can and power tools are my friends. The use of the old table (that I have many of,I have collected), and the cookie drawer fronts completely sold me. So, I am very inspired.
Hi Kaye, thank you so much for stopping by, I've just checked my analytics, and it looks like about 5% of my viewers are female, and about 20% of my viewers are from the US, so you're definately helping that statistic balance a bit better - thank you! I'm very curious how you bumped into my channel? What was the first thing you saw and where? If I can help you with any question you sit on, please just ask. Cheers
Best DIY video, I have seen in a while! 10/10, you have another subscriber 😊
