    What about Coots being the captain an making 7.5 million bucks? His lack of offense and terrible defense are a huge reason they missed the playoffs

    The Sixers have taught us all - accumulating talent means nothing. Just win. (And fight.)

    Easily the biggest misconception of this year was PHI would've been picking top 5. They were never gonna be that awful. They would've picked 6-8 again. In this draft the gap from 8-12 is barely noticeable.

    I’m disappointed, I didn’t expect a cup but we played hard 80% of the time. Part of me wonders if torts system just ran them tired. The coots drama should not have created a 10 game skid. The room has to be tougher than that. Let’s come back stronger next year. Go flyers

    I’ll agree with a lot of what Frank said. The lunch pail fans don’t wanna hear it but they need to finish lower in the standings and draft higher to get out of no man’s land. Super star talent is needed to win in this league and that’s a fact and we don’t have it.

    The fact the Flyers organization should've known that Peterson and Sandstrom were not reliable backups and that we didn't go after a cheap budget and reliable backup/utility goalie during the trade deadline such as Kahkonen or Vejmelka still blows my mind. Nothing against Ersson who I thought played exceptionally well as a overworked rookie but I do hope he finds his game next season like he did towards those last few games of this regular season. It's gonna be an interesting offseason but I do have faith that Briere and Jonesy will get the job done right compared to previous management.

    coots drama was not the reason for spiral. very lazy narrative. goaltending, giving up first goal too often, injuries, defensive play, pk imploded, transition offense drying up bc teams played them better. media always wants to boil this down to torts cause its easy and it gets clicks

      Disagree. I think people love to forget hockey players are people. Why would coaches healthy scratch players if it didn’t have an effect?

  • @rts7067

    Torts was right to bench Couts. It was not the offensive side of the game that got him benched. It was terrible defense.

    Seeler, Risto, Drysdale all hurt. Walker traded. Coots fell off a cliff as did Atkinson. Hart got suspended. Ersson fatigued. Those are the reasons they missed. Not a healthy scratch

    Loved the pod guys, alway a great job. I disagree with Frank when it comes to Tort's. I happen to be one of the long time fans who supports Tort's and his style. I surely don't want another AV type here. I'm already looking forward to next year!

    One of the big reasons why Torts was hired was to sell tickets, the fan base fell, the team might be below average, Torts was the sideshow.

    Couturier should retire, probaby Atkinson and Laughton. There are too many soft flyers who constantly skate to avoid contact. I don't mean throwing big checks or trying rip someones arm off and beat them with it. But the grind that many teams have to wear the other side down. Many skate to avoid all contact, all game. Need to change that to win enough games to make playoffs

    • @boomer1049
      @boomer1049 Před měsícem

      Premature to evaluate Couts he missed 2 seasons. He started good and just wasn't mentally and physically strong enough after missing that much time. Now if he follows it up with a poor start and much less a poor season in 24-25 then we call for retirement!

  • @rts7067
    @rts7067 Před měsícem +4

    I disagree with Frank on Torts. I think if changes are going to be made, Couturier should go. Maybe Danny can get him to waive his NMC this off-season. Couturier was one heck of a player at one time, but he is also one of the last remaining players of a core that got multiple coaches fired. One of those coaches was Craig Berube. Also, what Center do you sit besides Couts. Frost was playing good hockey and was the closest thing the Flyers had to a number one center at the time. Poehling was doing the defensive work that Couts was sucking at. Laughton and Cates who play center at times were also playing capable hockey.

    Once again, this organization doesn't get it.
    Look at what the Blackhawks are doing and thats exactly what the Flyers have needed to do for years.
    Tear it completely down, draft high for a number years and stockpile young talent.
    Look at Chicago's prospect pool vs the Flyers.
    Night and day.

      @chrisolivo6591 Před měsícem

      100% agree. I’ve been saying this for 15 years as they are afraid to really rebuild and actually stink for a few years. Thats what they did in the early 90’s as they got assets like Ricci and Forsberg in the draft and that enabled them to trade for Lindros.
      The fact that we are rebuilding as they say, yet drafting #12 is so frustrating. They need completely overhaul the roster and stop with this *wink wink* rebuild, as it’s really a retool. Retools keep you mediocre and that’s what we have been for a decade.

      It usually takes a whole season for a player to get back to form with his type injuries... If he can regain 70% of his pre-injury self he will be a serviceable line 2 or if we're lucky and line 3 centerman on a contending team in 2-3 years...

  • @jadecannon6475

  • @chrisolivo6591
    @chrisolivo6591 Před měsícem

    There is a reason the Flyers have been mediocre for a decade as they can’t commit to a specific plan.
    I have said from day one if they are rebuilding, why is Torts the coach? He is not a coach to rebuild a young team because he will burn too many bridges before they are really ready to compete for a Cup. We haven’t made the playoffs in 4 years, and you have a team that is tuning out the coach.
    If you are going to rebuild, you trade guys like Laughton who have value. When they balked at trading him at the deadline, it’s so typical Flyers. They are so afraid of going all in on a rebuild so they stay mediocre. That’s how you end up with the 12th pick and we’re back to square one next year.
