Nothing is more pure than a little wild bird trusting you... My neighborhood finches will fly within a couple feet of me and wait for snacks. They are so brave they'll come up and chirp outside my window until I come out.... There's one that always answers me when I whistle and I'll tell him to go get his friends for a snack and he'll fly away and bring a bunch back w/ him, it's so cool and I don't even know how it started. I feel special that they're comfortable enough that I can sit in my back yard and they'll land in arms reach.... 😊

Yep. Birds and squirrels do that. I love birdwatching and feeding them. Everytime, I open my backyard door, first thing in the morning; I see all the sparrows, fly into a tree in my yard. They know I will be feeding them.
And my squirrels😆 🐿️🐿️🐿️They literally, scratch my door, to get my attention to open it, or they go up on my kitchen window, peeping inside the window looking for me; it's so funny seeing them do that. They're pretty comfortable; they take everything from my hands and even will come in the house. And they're not afraid of my Yorkie that chases them all the time. 😆 I just love all my animals. ❤️❤️❤️

Actually, I feed some Australian Magpies at my house. I'll share some stories of them.
-When I don't feed them they sometimes peck on the glass which is annoying. It always get me scared.
-When Magpies are younger they are ALWAYS begging for food. They make a noise which can be heard 24/7. I've seen the mother actually peck at her kids to be shut up. It's low-key very funny.
      - I've noticed the Magpies leaders have to eat first. The younger ones eat second.
      - it's easy to tell which Magpies they are since they have unique personalities and demeanor.

I'm in the UK and I have a pet Magpie too. My dog found him 4.5 years ago so I hand reared him. He now lives with me and is very good at talking. He's quite a character and very clever, I can only trick him once. Tips for this lady, teach the Magpie to drink from a rabbit bottle, they learn it quickly and keeps the water fresher and the enclosure dryer. Use a high sided sand bath for a rat or chinchilla, fill it with an inch of water for daily baths, less splashing on your floor.

We humans have been admiring magpies' personalities for a _long_ time. Their very name is a tribute to it. They're one of the few birds that were so common, familiar and personable they got given a 'first name' - Mag Pie.
Go back to the Middle Ages, they were just called 'pies'. But the same way Robin Redbreast and Jenny Wren got given pet names, these characterful, intelligent black-and-white corvids got nicknamed Mag, as in Margaret. Another of the crow family, the daw, had this too - Jack Daw.
Over the centuries, the name and nickname got rolled together until they actually _became_ the names: magpie, jackdaw. But what we call them today still contains that clue to how big an effect they had on us hundreds of years ago.

(With the robin, it eventually went a step further. Before maybe the 15th or 16th century, they would have been called a 'redbreast' or 'ruddock'... the colour _orange_ didn't exist in English then. Friendly little 'Robin' Redbreast became so well-known by his human name, though, it ended up the _only_ name needed.)

I love the OddCouple Dodo edition ❤ To see animals that never interact, just become friends. The world today brings me to look for stuff like this once in awhile to warm the heart ❤

For Christmas get Mike a fancy birdbath..... a big pot with water in the sink and turn the faucet on for a little stream, so he can have his very own bird fountain bath. :)

Magpies in China are considered auspicious. You don’t find them. They come find you. You must have done something right in the past for him to adopt you, and his presence will bring you endless happiness and joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video, but I think this lady should have left the baby magpie there. The parents feed them from the ground , generally tucked behine heavy grass or low fence, from very early on. You need to see it to believe it. By all means watch out for half a day or so, but you will see a mum and dad looking after them. They are also quite tame till they realise they are meant to be scared of you.
We have many many magpies around here on our farm in australia and I would have been saving them all the time if I hadn't done some research on it.

Funny. I see a dog being extremely tolerant more so than a friendship

Yeah, the dog looks annoyed most of the time, not happy at all. He just happens to be a very tolerant dog that would rather walk away than put up a fight.
She really should have found a way to deter or distract Mike from that bullying behavior since it’s clearly making the dog unhappy.
