peut-être qu'il vaut mieux éviter d'essayer convaincre les propriétaires des grands bateaux plastiques d'adopter nos habitudes de dingy cruising. Ainsi, les mouillages et criques discrets, qu'on aime tellement, ne vont pas être découvert pas trop de monde.

Ein wunderbarer Film, Roger, vielen Dank - und dann auch noch in der Sprache Ihrer neuen Heimat; fast schon eine Liebeserklärung an »la douce France«! Ihr Plädoyer für das »einfache Leben« an Bord eines Dinghys hat mich sehr berührt, auch wenn ich selbst seit über 40 Jahren Erholung und Entspannung auf meiner ebenfalls recht einfach gehaltenen 27-Fuß-Stahl-Kajütsegelyacht suche und finde.
Ich schreibe diesen Kommentar auf Deutsch in der Erwartung, dass dann vielleicht noch mehr deutschsprachige CZcams-Nutzer Ihre wunderbaren Videos entdecken und abonnieren.

Bravo Roger ! Je te suis depuis plus d’un an avec toujours grand plaisir. Si j’ai bien compris tu as aussi déménager pour la Bretagne. Si c’est le cas, j’espère que tu t’adaptes à ton nouvel environnement. Jeune, j’ai beaucoup navigué dans cette région avec un petit voilier. Quelle côte pleine de surprises : mouillages, bistros et météo !

Lovely video Roger, this will defiantly help me learn some more french.
Some great foootage there; so many serene places, both in France and England. Now I'm looking again at a dinghy I can use with my grandkids. Although, saying that, the waterways around Northampton aren't really made for sailing, apart from the River Nene.
Oh, and your vlog really tested my high school French from 45yrs ago and latterly from my Duolingo lessons. But I did enjoy the challenge. Thanks.

Hey Robert, I've got a sixteen foot day sailor. I'll be handcrafting a sculling oar this winter. How long is your oar? I've been watching for the last two years and you're the best. My propane outboard is on the fritz. I grew up on a row boat and love that I can escape the reliance of a machine, thanks.
My oars are 10ft 6in long - but they are that long for rowing rather than for sculling.

But I do believe that my small boat with its solid cabin would be just a wee bit more comfortable because of the weather tightness (compared to a canvas). And I totally agree if more people purchased small boats like ours they would be happier. You can see my little boat Sweet Pee on my CZcams channel under my name. Thanks for posting as usual.
Canvas is perfectly waterproof. The big issues on a small boat are space and condensation control. On both a tent covering the whole boat is, I suggest, the better solution.
@@RogerRoving Ahh but le misuer Roger... I installed closed cell 1/2 inch insulating foam covered with close stitched carpet on the inside of the hull and....walla, No condensation. It’s an old trick used by us in the “know”. Dry as a chicken bone in the desert. For me when the wind picks up when anchored, I’m cozy and don’t have the flapping sound or the movement of air about the cabin from the canvas. I will make you a believer one day.
Great videos Roger :-) even if I can't understand a word in this one. I kind of lost interest in French at school after the teacher told us that certain types of wooden furniture were either female or male.

Well done, Roger. Your French is getting there. If you want to improve the meter of your speech and ability to better make the sounds of the language, it would be best to immerse yourself in it for -let's say - a week where you don't get the opportunity to use English, even so much as to hear it on the radio.
For one thing, we sound the way we do from our own language conditioning the muscles in our faces to speak correctly. It takes a few days to train those cheeks to make the new sounds. Don't be daunted by it. While it will be difficult at first, it will come naturally. You'll also find yourself depending less on the thought process of translating to oneself.
You'll likely enjoy it very much.

I have a little inflatable sailboat of 277cm. I dream about to join Strasbourg from Brussels with my wife. It's like 450 km but with 120 lockdam. 😅 I'll dare one time, I promise but firstly alone.
I have been dinghy cruising in my Wayfarer "Skean Dhu" and yacht cruising in my Kelt9m and IP24 . I have to say that dinghy cruising was much less stressful. Ending up on the beach was a win not a disaster for a start. I still have the Wayfe but not the ability to launch and recover it. Age and the like. It is a shame that you only seem to be able to hire flash-git dinghies for an hour or two and oldfart dinghies are no longer available.
The seat across the beam should be removed, just realized how inconvenient it is for moving from stern to bow and sleeping! It will make the boat feel a lot larger.
Not as fluent as Her Majesty's french, but I give you an A for effort ;)
