FILM DESCRIPTION:
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange's help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who've ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. This fight was absolutely brutal. The most hard hitting fight Holland’s Spider Man has been in. I love how it was a callback to Tobey’s brutal fight with Goblin. Really shows how strong and dangerous Goblin is
Yeah, I sometimes forget he’s a beefed up super human because of how rarely he relies on his brute strength. When he started chucking Peter through walls I was like “WOAH, WHAT THE FU-oh right, he _can_ do that…”

You can tell how freaked out Peter was by the fact that even with Thanos he was making jokes and his trademark quips but here he just wanted to neutralize Goblin as quickly as possible seeing how completely evil he was . . Great job by both actors

The big difference between NWH and Spider Man 1 is that Green Goblin learned from his failures with Tobey. In Spider-Man 1, he was always trying to make Tobey into a bad guy like him, always "giving" him a choice to join him and conquer or die and watch the people he cared about suffer. But here in this movie, clearly, Goblin didn't give Tom any sort of choice whatsoever, flat out getting rid of anyone he thinks make Tom weak. His goal here is still to turn Spider-Man into a bad guy, just not the Spider-Man he first tried with (Tobey), but instead a younger/susceptible Spider-Man (Tom)

I think by the time he was pulled into the MCU, it was toward the end of his origonal movie, so he had already tried that with Tobey and knew it probably wouldn't work with this one. Thus, why he cut to the chase with killing Aunt May.

I love how Goblin's first instinct when randomly ending up in another universe is to just terrorise their version of Spider-man. It just goes to show that no matter what universe he's in, Spider-man's nemesis will always be Goblin.

What made this scene terrifying for me is that the green goblin didn’t look like he was trying to hurt Peter but rather just play around with him. It really shows that how powerful he is

Tbh, I don’t think the Goblin was ever fighting at his full potential. Even in the end, I think he was just trying to get in Peter’s head.

This fight was the first time Tom’s Spidey actually faced a fist fight/fight with someone who has equal strength to him. Prior to this, he never really had to to toe to toe with a villain. But dam, this one was so good. Instantly brought so much more good-will towards Tom’s version of the character
They actually specifically choreographed (at least in the Spidey movies, not the Avenger ones) to not land any punches and to focus on webs and kicks. This time, Peter isn’t holding anything back

What I appreciated about this version of Green Goblin over the original is that they really showcased his immense strength. In the comics, Goblin is a fierce hand to hand combatant, and freakishly strong, often written as being far stronger than Spider-Man is. It's really good to see that here, and rather than a load of flipping around or ineffective glancing blows like you might get with some villains, this is just straight up bruiser brutality.

The blast double through the apartment floor was one of the wildest things I've ever seen in any fight scene of any movie and I think I stood up in the theater out of excitement when he hit him with that.

One thing I love about this movie, this peter was used to a certain type of evil, but was no where near used to green goblins type of evil. Green goblin was by far stronger and more insane then any of tom hollands villains

For the rest of the movie, Willem Dafoe’s performance is unjustifiably insane. It’s like if the craziness of Jim Carrey and Nicolas Cage had a baby, and that baby was adopted by Christopher Walken.
Its crazy how Peter got beat tf up and his face is completely destroyed and he gave his all into fighting the Goblin and this dude walked out without a goddamn paper cut. Absolutely insane.

In the final fight where Parker was definitely not holding back, he landed multiple punches on his face and it still didn't do any damage. Goblin is just that strong/durable

I really LOVE what they did with this scene. It feels like they wanted to homage and keep very faithful to what they did with the Green Goblin in Raimi's Spider-Man 1. Because yeah, the Goblin has his glider and pumpking bombs and all that stuff, but we often forget that he is physically enhanced and is brutal on hand to hand combat. They kept faithful to that fist fight in the end of Spider-Man 1 but they improved on that using modern technology to make it look even more brutal. Those wrestling movements by the Goblin look so great.
0:33 - 0:39 This was the moment which made me fear for Peter. Goblin felt the first punch and was shocked, but took the next few with glee. He knows Peter is pulling his punches, hoping to save Norman. This is the moment he knows he can break this Peter.
Peter is absolutely NOT pulling his punches in that moment. He’s giving it all he’s got and it’s doing nothing.

Although we knew Raimi's Goblin was strong, we never truly got a chance to understand how strong he really is. I don't think people actually remember Green Goblin being this strong and that was due to the limits of filmmaking back then. Now we get to see Green Goblin in his purest form.

Man came back after 20 years and became the greatest MCU villain.
This film showed why Green Goblin is Spider-Man’s deadliest nemesis. Norman didn’t even know this Peter yet he managed to ruin his life in a day or two. Norman was the catalyst for getting the villains to reject being cured and then killing Aunt May, with the former causing Peter to lose everyone he’s ever known.
I can't get over William Dafoe's acting, the first time I watched this at the theaters. With his performance, I felt his goblin threat presence from being to into the movie.
A villain that was stronger than Captain America but as brutal as Thanos was definitely a scary thing for Peter to see. At least Thanos was an alien, this was Peter's fellow man.
Thanos at least had some sense of a moral compass. Goblin has none whatsoever.

Peter was pulling his punches. He doesn’t want to outright kill Norman he wanted to try and save him
One of the things this movie did really well was knowing when to put in a joke, and when to leave it out. The serious scenes are heavy, and it gives them so much more impact. But it still has the lighthearted moments to keep it from being *too* heavy. They struck a really good balance and it's a big part of why it overall is my favorite phase 4 movie so far.
Something I noticed is that Norman/Goblin always saw Tobey as an equal and someone who cannot be manipulated. Tom, however, is younger and can still be molded/manipulated which Goblin does during each interaction
With the music and the way he just stared at him and laughed while taking those punches gave me serious chills.
Damn William had my heart racing in this movie he definitely defended his title as the best Green Goblin ever, he's been losing that title to Steven Blum

This is quite easily one of the best fight scenes in the movie and shows why it's easily in the top 10 of the MCU movies. Definitely the stand out of phase 4.

Mysterio illusion sequence in FFH is still awesome to look at. NWH might be better movie overall but the portrayal of Mysterio's skills in FFH really felt like it was taken purely out of the comics more than this movie
