- The different types of anime fans that exist! After my video on Annoying / the worst Anime Tropes, I thought it would be fun to focus on the types of anime fans this time! As someone who's been an anime fan for most of my life, I've been in a lot of these categories, (some more awkward than others) but hey, it's fun to talk about our embarrassing weeb memories, right? Which type of anime fan are you/were you? Tell me in the comments!

I’m more of a Casual type of anime fan, but I’m also a bit of a Manga Reader.
However, I usually don’t express any opinions about how the manga/anime versions were.
I only discovered Soul Eater & Death Note with their mangas, & when I learned Soul Eater’s anime adaptation isn’t appreciated, I decided to never watch it.
As for My Hero Academia, I used to read its manga, but I stopped at volume 10 & decided to move on to its anime adaptation instead.
However, I do continue to read its Spin-off Vigilante.
I did enjoyed the video, that was great ! 😄

the + standing for dipping into a bit more then just the famous big hitters, me and my housemate enjoys finding small random once and watch them together. having seen like somewhere in the 100 ish animes i think i could verify as more then casual but not any of the extremes x)

I fall into the casual anime fan category. Just watching Shonen anime would mean missing out on awesome shows like K-on, Clannad, and Madoka Magika. Anime is far more accepted these days than 20 years ago when I was a wee lad. Back then, I was definitely a closet anime fan.

though I'll admit that the salad saiyan/carthus dojo db what ifs are pretty cool.
@@CoolestSwordFighter I’m kind of embarrassed to admit I had to look up the meaning of the word “coomer”. Even back then, there was anime that had pervy moments. It’s part of what stigmatized it back when I was a kid. Anyone I knew that was aware of anime back then immediately associated it with “adult content”. Or in the case of shows like Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and the like, they’d say it’s kids stuff. There didn’t seem to be any middle ground. I’m glad to see that’s not the case these days.

I watch anime, that's really weird, like really really weird, it's only normalized, which isn't a bad thing, anime's just weird.

I'm a Manga Reader but I think there are parts that are better in the anime and some that are better in the Manga. For example: a silent voice. I love that the Manga goes deeper into the thoughts of the other characters, I really like how they all viel the situation in a different way. It doesn't get to the conclusion that fast and was pretty smooth in my opinion. For the anime: I think it's good that they left out the whole part about making a movie. The story went pretty good without it. Also the music fits some scenes very good and makes you feel the way they want you too. Also the ending is just more fitting in my opinion, it ends on a great Note. I would still recommend both ^^
Well I'm manga reader too but I didn't watch any anime and manga at the same series I wait for solo leveling to appear, probably it's a small chance greatest estate developer to appear and I read most of time little manga are not so popular but are good because it's more fun no one knows what is it
My types are comedy , fantasy, romance and dark fantasy for more balance 😂
@@alistar3729 I kinda read different stuff. When I am unsure, I just buy something because of the artstyle so I can get Inspiration from it and it's not a failure XD. My favourite is the promised neverland. It really got me into reading manga

Found a couple of exceptions to the whole book being better than the movie rule. Woman in the Dunes and Closely Watched Trains both had screenplays by their novelists and were as good as the book. That’s tough to pull off.

But I bet if anime were given enough run time to meet the same amount of time people spend reading these scenes in manga, the anime would be better... Manga is "better" because there is more time devoted to each scene and anime typically only get 22 minutes to tell EVERYTHING for that episode.
I definitely fit into "The Closet Weeb" and "Casual" category being the self-conscious type and all, with a side of memes. I don't watch too many anime genres, but I can pick up on thing pretty quickly as well as remembering several faces. I'm really just a huge sucker for anything cute and wholesome, as well as here to have fun! 😅😅

I'm more caught between the closet weeb and casual. I like a good show and story with the best romance and action fighting scenes. I'd get into it more but I don't really have anyone to enjoy it with, so I watch and enjoy the shows by myself. Also beautiful cosplay you wore Wolfy😊
I'm at opposite ends with my tastes, in one part I like a good fighting or action anime, and in the other I like a sweet calm slice of life or romance, im basically a chameleon.

I know what are talking about i too feel trapped between a Closet Weeb and Casual watcher. I'ts like being an outcast between the two worlds... and is very hard to share thoughts with someone if you are not deep into anime or totally out of it.
@@Mibok yeah I'm not an otaku to buy anime merch or go to conventions, although if it looks cool enough or given to me as a gift, I wouldn't mind it. And if I was invited or dragged to a convention, I also wouldn't mind checking it out
Same! I do watch dub only and MHA is one of my favs my overall favorite is Mob Psycho 100 and while I buy the mercy I get embarrassed wearing it at school and in public lol

Anyway talking about anime, now that the era of *"talking about anime is cringe"* or *"anime is for kids"* or *"YOU WATCHED ANIME🤨!?"* is increasingly disapearing, I'm glad I've been able to talk to some of my friend/brother about it, (or even pull them to the rabbit hole). Even if most of them are casual, its good to get out of the closet sometimes ᗜ▽ᗜ. And thanks for the video wolfy (I dont think i can talk about this, other than the internet XD)

You could literally replace the word "Anime" with any other fandom and this video would be no different. That's how well those categories fit universally. It doesn't just fit those "Chinese" cartoons (only OG Wolfychu fans will get that reference, and if not, it's a joke). I for one am a casual/open closet (I don't hide it but I also don't make it obvious) fan in most fandoms I'm a part of. Great video as always Wolfy, you're improving so much with each upload.
It's amazing how many types of anime fans there are. I wonder if there's more of them and if there are, you should make a part 2!

Honestly, even tho lately I'm not that into anime (mostly due to time) I can honestly feel represented in some way with at least a few of this (the closeted anime fan specially and Jojo Memes lmao).

I think I can say I’m a Casual. I had a major anime hyperfixation during college when I got exposed to shows outside of Shonen titles. But I don’t consume everything and sometimes it takes me a while to get interested but eventually I’ll binge and catch up.
I’m someone who reads more manga than watching anime but I try not to go around saying the manga is better since it’s mostly opinion and perspective

I would have also added the "niche-goer", basically the anime fan who prefers more niche titles compared to the more bustling communities of the mainstream anime. The types who, while they may appreciate a more deep and meaningful story may also just do this cause mainstream stuff annoys them.

'The Casual' was me when I first started watching anime. I only watched the dubbed animes, my favorite was MHA (for a time), and I only watched a few series. Nowadays, I fall into the 'closeted anime fan' category
when you described the hardcore/otaku, it felt like you were describing me. absolutely accurate.
i have a figure collection displayed in my detolf and i am proud of every single item and am not afraid to show it off to any guests i may have, even if those guests know nothing about anime :D

The manga reader, but not that extreme over the Adaptation, as long as it was good in my opinion, then I will watch them over and over again. The casual but watch 90% of the different genres out there more on the slice of life, fantasy, and comedy. The shipper with known couple and self-insert in a hand full of anime. I love your beautiful and cute video, Wolfy can't wait for your next one.

I've actually halfed matched some of this, but not completely. I like My Hero Academia the most, yeah, but I also like Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun, and The Disastrous life of Saiki K. I have and I am still collecting My Hero Academia merch, but I'd get into any anime. Oh and Wolfy, would you be able to one day make a video on some anime recommendations? I'm curious!

this is frickin' awesome! and there are some things I actually relate to because one of my friends is a manga reader and me well I'm kinda not a weeb so I go in between watching a lot of anime from taking a break from it most of the time. but yes, I am the memer and the casual cause I like memes cause it's hilarious, and I'm pretty chill when it comes to anime when I'm bored.

I remember I started watching your CZcams station back in 2017
I probably fit best into the casual fan category- but a lot of the anime I've seen is pretty obscure and when I try to tell people about it no one knows what I'm talking about lol. Which is a shame because I had a massive case of SLS while watching this one anime and the only person I could get to watch it with me was my mom, who liked the first lead a lot better- (did eventually get my little brother to watch it with me and back me up though)

It took me a while to get into anime. As a young teenager my friend showed me a random chunk of Naruto and, well, six episodes in and they were still having the same fight and weren't even attacking, they were just talking about the attacks they could do but weren't ARRR! Put me off for years. Much later I decided my aversion was probably just based on this incident, bought a DVD box set of Toradora as a test case and me and Anime resolved our differences.

1:49 I have a friend that literally reads manga to read more on what happens next when the season to that anime ends. So he just keeps going, and going and going until he gets bored. The only difference is that he reads them online and not at a book store. Because he said it’s easier to access them online… which makes sense

These days I mostly read the Light Novels or manga, but I have still watched too much anime that I haven't read the manga for to say I'm purely a manga reader. Though these days I've mostly been reading Korean and Chinese series, I still re-read or catch up on Japanese series I really like now and then.
Anime fans are definitely the people of all time.

I am a manga reader, an anime watcher, a shipper, a memer, and a hardcore anime fan. I am a fan of Sub (although I watch some animes in dub too such as Kiss Him Not Me, Maid-Sama, DBZ(the entire series), and Fairy Tail. I still prefer sub over the dub but will give credit when it's due because if a dub version is better than a sub version of the anime, I will say it. I was once a closet weeb too now the tables have turned for me as well Wolfychu). Great video :)
in Wolfychu perspective is one of the common anime enjoyer trait, but theres a few wolfychu didnt mention [the hidden kind] in my esperience:
1. the Waifu Collector = a Weeb who enjoy anime WITH A TASTE of collecting Waifu and had his own Tierlist of waifu [USUALY they enjoy an anime with many girl that came from a game (Azur lane, KanColle, Blue archieve(coming soon), Girls frontline, etc)]
theres also a case of these person popularity Bringing any bodypillow/poster waifu in public [but its rare]
2. THE LIGHT NOVEL READER = never underestimate them, They too powerful to read Whole Volume of any anime, and usualy some say mistook them from Manga reader but they are superior when it comes to story and Character persona
3. The ANIME GAMER = had a taste of waifu collector but they had a sense of which Anime Character that the person would like to pick It can be Waifu/Husbando (usualy its came from a Anime game) and its a mix of Manga reader and Visual novel reader...
4. The OFFBRAND enjoyer = you know where we goin here ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
5. The early = just a freshman who start watching anime (they will evolve to enjoy sooner or later)
I used to be the hard-core. Then I found other hobbies. Now my favorite anime is My Hero and I only watch dubs 😂 but God I know way too much about anime from 2013-2015

I'm more into Comedy, Action & Mystery genres of anime & manga.
Even though I'm a Casual type & a Manga Reader (who usually doesn't expresses its opinions), I've actually also read a few good mangas that will never have their anime adaptation, such as Mega Man Megamix / Gigamix from Hitoshi Ariga, Touhou Forbidden Scrollery or Touhou Lotus Eaters from Zun, Moe Harukawa & Mizutaki.
