Episode 6 - Zábava
Daidus changing tinky winky to "twinky winky" is utterly fantastic
I always thought it was twinky winky from the intro
“I’M THE PURPLE TELETUBBIE AND I DO WHAT I WANT.” -Vinny Vinesauce
wait it’s not twinky winky? My life is a lie 😭
Happy Pride I guess
I mean, there was a (dumb as hell) controversy back in the day where Tinky Winky was under fire from conservatives for being a "gay role model" bc he had a "woman's handbag" as a magic bag
I like how when Emily talks.Sometimes she puts up her nice drawing. And then other times she puts up the poorly drawn version of herself
daidus has one too lol 1:10
@@cherryheartcandy I didn't realize that I was looking at something else at that time.Code but I went back and checked and he actually does.Have a poorly drawn version of himself

Wait until they find the ultimate medium: crayola twistables.
Oh no…
my life flashed before my eyes
Okay but legit, just personally twistables are so much fun to use :,)
I used to twist it all the way and then snap them
I used to use them for shading marker drawings as a kid! 😂
omg i love twistables for shading
Hot tip from a traditional artist:
When you're wanting to see if you like a certain blend of colors but dont wanna ruin the actual piece, test how they blend on a separate piece of paper. That way you can experiment and fuck up as much as much as you want lol. Saved me a lot of headache
Edit: My God over 2k likes what did I do to deserve that-
I just gave that same tip hahaha. I need to read the comment section before I post lol. Like you should see my artbooks, I use Prisma color pencils and the opposite side of the pages you see all of these color blend sections haha.
@@Zodia195 YO SAME HERE
just wanted to add to this comment thread for visibility.
1. You guys should get kneaded erasers! They decrease the chance of you screwing up the page when you rub out your sketches and you can lightly lift the graphite of the page for a better lineart experience ^^
2. When dealing with alcohol markers, you need to work a bit fast to get more even layers or else you end up with patches with different shades etc
3. Most people (myself included) prefer the brush nib for blending but the chisel tip is great for covering large areas so you don't end up with the patches!
It's always so funny/interesting seeing how artists who started digitally approach traditional art! You guys are doing a great job, keep it up :DDD
THANK YOU
OH YEAH I SAID THIS TOO 😭😭 Great minds think alike
Daidus and Emily in cosplay in the thumbnail is PEAK
so true

Cosplay goals am I right? lol
Hi, I never usually comment, but Daidus made a comment in the end of the video stating that when you put alcohol markers on the paper once you put it, you cannot lighten it. There is a marker call, 0 or colorless blender is just regular alcohol marker with alcohol ink in it. You can place it on top of the place where you wish to lighten It will take a sec, but it will lighten. But keep in mind You do have risk of bleeding. So if you chose to use it please keep that in mind. Just use it with caution, but it is possible to lighten the dark orange. The band he was talking about to make it like a golder color you could have used a colorless blender to help achieve that color. I hope that helps. Emily your doing great just keep practicing. If Daidus or Emily don't see this I hope someone who starting copics or achohol markers. I hope this help you. 😊❤
Thank you! I don't have markers but I always wondered why there was a colorlerless-white-like one. Now everything make sense!
I would suggest watching @GinjaNinjaOwO channel especially her recent videos in which you see her use alcohol marker.
"It's my trash" - two talented people
Me hahaha yea...*throwing away shitty drawing*
I feel ya, I was doing silly doodles before hand and then saw this and immediately was like
“Welp…”
hey come on guys be nicer to yourselves!!
Saaaaameeeeee 🥲
Venus being his crush and then him growing up to date Emily makes so much sense. (And it's adorable)

i dont get it but their relationship is adorable
I love how Emily raged after she finished like “AHH-“ *slams on the table* and there’s daidus drawing like “TEE-HEE 🎀😊”
I mean this kindly I feel like she is putting herself to a bad standard because it looks amazing and the coloring is great except for the one bow mistake
I assume my knowledge of childhood crushes will give me a cool and in no way helpful bonus to knowing what these will be
We love background knowledge!! YESSS!! ❤
real ones know their favs from emilys childhood crushes videos
REAL LOL
was not expecting an in-depth teletubbies discussion on spilled ink today, but i am here for it
Drawing blindness
When you have been looking at your art for to long that you can only see the mistakes.
(i personally think your art is amazing)
copic word just sounds like a coping, "I want to get better at coping" yes Daidus me too
my favourite will always be sailor mars
ON MY SOUL
I don't know anything about the characters, but I think my pick just based on the design would be Sailor Saturn.
For me, always Sailor Moon.
YES! I love Mars! And it’s totally not because my favorite color is red 😅
Jupiter is that girl for me yall

Ngl I’d absolutely pay money for a print of that Sailor Jupiter. I think it looks fantastic.
new episode of spilled ink HELL YEAAA
Sailor jupiter's hair turned out amazing imo and the venus portrait gives like a portrait drawn in the 90s and I like the vibe a lot
Y’all talking about PBS kids made me so happy! No cable kids unite!
Are early teens allowed lol?
Wait isn't that on cable 😅
I am glad I was not alone
@@bigred212pbs kids wasn’t cable
@@yaemikos it was for me but I'm a 2000s kid so it was probably different for you
As an amateur drawer, it's so refreshing to see pros struggle, make mistakes, get a lil frustrated. Reminds us that we're all still learning ❤
all the hair highlights in Emily's drawing is so nostalgic to me when I used to colour anime girls all the time and added shine to every little curve in the hair
Emily's lining process was soooo satisfying to watch idk why
I would love to see them trying to redraw old sketches, ya kno, to compare how much they have improved.
you know its a good day when theres a new spilled ink episode
Here immediately to see what comes out of Daidus' cranium 🧠 that will inevitably get Emily to scream 🤣
I was not disappointed! Spilled Ink screams and random noises compilation when? 😱
From having to wait for months to see Emily's content to having these two every two weeks is a huge improvement for my mental health 😂
*THAT KIDS DRAWING YUGI-OH!* 🗣
Remember the crush video that Emily made on her channel we already know who their favorites are. Emily’s favorite is Jupiter and Daidus is Venus.
That Jupiter hair really amazingly well depth.
absolutely. I’m surprised Emirichu said she didn’t like how she did Jupiter - the hair is very clean.
1.) Jupiter: Was a lovely all around person that was powerful as well (Supreme Thunder being a really awesome attack) but I also liked that she just as liked “girly” things despite having a tomboy demeanor. I really wanted her cool attitude and I’m around the same height as her and I love green.
2.) Moon: Related by not wanting to do homework, crying, eating, playing games, and not catching innuendos. Although she did cry a lot she still had a spit-fire tongue against Mars which was hilarious. Yet deep down she is really sweet.
3.) Uranus: Again just the cool factor of her being a powerful scout. (World Shaking is one of my favorite attacks). I really liked how the outers could take care of an enemy most of the time no problem and had a beautiful soundtrack. My only thing was I didn’t like her attitude in some cases. While she had the right idea most of the time she either: executed it poorly or failed to communicate/was cold with the inners. I also loved her androgynous voice and style in suits.
They both turned out fantastic! I love how dynamic Emily’s looks, and Daidus’s has a more playful edge to it that’s super charming!
I’m a fashion designer and sometimes it’s hard to find something to watch while I work and I’m so happy I finally found something, it’s so calming and helps when I have art block
I apologise in advance for the lengthy comment ! 😭
For their first time this is genuinely a good job! When I used copics for the first time the blending looked like shit, so honestly Daidus and Emily got the hard part down TT
The skin on Daidus’s artwork is really well blended imp, and the way Emily coloured the hair is so cool and unique !
I do have some a useful tip though incase you guys didn’t already know!
If you would like to make a colour lighter, you can put a paper underneath the your artwork, and use a colourless blender on the part you wish to get lighter. This can either completely get rid of the colour or just lighten it, but it must be done right after applying the colour (so before it dries!)
You guys can also try using watercolour for the base colours (to save ink or make it less of a grueling process 😭) , and shade on top with the copics!
I think Daidus’s idea with practicing multiple parts is a really good idea as well! Practicing separate parts makes the process less overwhelming to do tbh and it’ll definitely help in the long run!
This video was such a fun time i’m so glad you guys tried a full copic illustration it made me really happy ,,^^,, !!
I'm a total beginner with copics but one thing that's essential for me is having a gross swatching sheet to one side for testing and layering colors, like when Daidus mentioned wondering how red looked in the skin!
This is slowly becoming my comfort channel
I drew a lot of traditional pieces with G-pen and India ink with copics, usually I ink at the top left and work my way down to the bottom right so my arm/hand doesn’t smudge the ink. It’s a huge help if you’re inking and drag your hand on the paper!
watching spilled ink while drinking coffee and drawing an anime girl is a vibe.
love daidus literally going insane around the end of the drawing
Idk why but 1:14 is funny to me... only because they already discussed their favorite sailor in Childhood Crushes 2. So I knew instantly.
The fact that Sailor venus’ headpiece doesn’t show in between the hair pieces in Daidus’ drawing is bothering me so much😂😂
When I watched them talking about them struggling about the hands or other things but they still try to do some practice it gives me confidence to make mistakes and tell myself it's fine you can do better if you keep on practicing and tbh I have not been drawing for like three years so I'm trying to get back to it and practice more
the intro never gets old
Honestly, making this channel has been one of the best decisions I really like seeing you guys draw more on the traditional side! I love the whole idea and even Ichika(the mascot) its all so cute!! Having found this channel made me want to try drawing again on paper and improve my art skills. It's always been so fun watching your videos whether its here or in your main channels, keep going!!
PBS was great as a kid. When Emily was naming off the shows I got a wave of nostalgia. The Between the lions intro was a bop.
So much passion and determination in Emily's sailor scout >v
As someone who has mostly been a traditional artist, I actually find it difficult to remember I can just undo stuff when doing digital pieces and by the time I remember I've already saved more than a few times. That and not realizing just how crucial things like layers could be. That said, I can totally understand the issues in being new to traditional work. For what it's worth I think these are both pretty good! I might have made Jupiter's bow translucent or given Venus really dark, contrasting shadows to hide her arm, but then it seems you were trying to be as accurate to the style as possible and those would be a bit of a change.
I don't even recall what I watched Sailor Moon on, but I was born in '91 and some of my earliest memories are of watching the show. One of the first teeth I recall losing was while eating this big chocolate chip cookie during it and I don't think I even realized at first lol. Some years ago I managed to find the complete series and intended to watch past where I'd last left off (I think somewhere in the ark with the weird flute aliens or whatever they were) but hadn't realized it was a new english dub. I really don't want to dis any of the new work or talent but the original dub is so ingrained in my formative memories that I just can't get used to Luna not being an old grumpy cat or Molly not being from Boston, along with having a different soundtrack. Maybe one day I'll give it more of a chance. It's not like the rest is dubbed anyway.
Favorite has always been Mars. Just something about a girl with a temper who can usually back up her words and has a more hidden sensitive side to her.
Something I do is practice coloring on a coloring book. They do make alcohol specific adult coloring books. That way you don't waste a bunch of time drawing something and feel anxiety when coloring it.
Edit: I just found a bunch of Sailor Moon coloring books on Amazon
I`m not even an artist, but the vibes with these 2 in a video are immaculate and very nice to watch
I love the intro animation it’s so cute
I don't know if you guys have found a copic artist to learn through osmosis from yet, but Studio AP (Japanese artist) on here does speedpaints with copics and he puts the copic codes on screen for reference!
I don’t know anything about drawing, but it’s amazing how critical artists are of themselves. Because when I saw colored version of your paintings, I thought it was fantastic and just so pleasant to look at
I really do enjoy these traditional art study videos. I had an art piece that i had sketched out earlier but was procrastinating on inking it. But clicking on this video gave me the encouragement I needed to ink my sketch, .So thank you Daidus and Emily, for being a great model and pushing yourselves to try things out of your comfort zone.
Not me knowing exactly who their favorite sailors are from watching all the Childhood crushes videos like 10 times 😄
Also sailor Jupiter is my favorite too
these videos are slowly giving me the motivation to draw again after my art classes had me burnt out 😭🙏
I've been fans of you guys for a while now and its incredible to see how youve both improved with your art. I know you guys started this channel to improve some more and to learn more, but I hope you never forget how far you've both come :)
The hilarious thing about color theory is that it’s kind of different between digital and traditional. Because the way you Get the color you want is different.
As a primarily traditional artist, it’s super fun for me to see you guys learning to go back to traditional when I have a lot of the same struggles with digital.
When you guessed the sailor scouts right…
Just not who would choose them.
I live for these CZcamsrs lol
I find it helpful to have a draft paper near for swatching colors. It's helpful to choose the correct shade and to test how overlaying certain colors would look
Emily's laugh is so unique, it's so cute how much Daidus makes her laugh constantly in these xD
TIP FOR TESTING/PICKING COLORS: a great way to see if your colors are going to work together is to on a separate piece of paper (preferably the same paper as your actual drawing) you make a thumbnail of the art and color in the thumbnail. It can be as messy as you want, as small or as big as you want but it's a quick way to see how the colors are going to look next to each other. Try it out it might work for you
I love how Daidus is always comparing himself to Emily
They're so cute ❤💕
PBS kid here too. For YEARS until we got cable when I was a tween, PBS was the only kiddie channel my sisters and I watched for hours as we grew up. It also led me to appreciate Celtic Woman more too, because they always aired their live concerts on the same public access channel that PBS is on for where I am. Loreena McKennitt is another artist whose concerts played live on the channel too, and she's become my favorite female artist over the years. Man what I wouldn't give to see either live in person tho. Highly recommend both to anyone who enjoys folk/world genre music.
Hearing Daidus go from Dog of Wisdom to the Chamberlain Skesis from Dark Crystal is just hilarious btw.
I adore literally everything about this channel and its content and I never want the videos to stop. I don't know shit about art, but I love seeing u guys try out different things and challenge themselves, as well as the casual chats while u guys just draw whatever. It's amazing and i love it
"with the few copic colors we have" killed me T.T so expensive for even a 20 pack
i remember when mr. rogers died. my teacher came to school dressed in all black, with like, a veil over her face
watching them struggle and learn is honestly really heart warming, like i know their suffering but at the same time it really impressive to see that they are still positive and supportive to one another and just willing to learn
I've been watching all of their videos because it's just calming but at the same time, there's some light laughs. Spilled Ink just feels like such a comfortable channel to me and it just feels like we're there hanging out with Daidus and Emily as they draw 🥹❤️
Daidus saying "twinkie" winkie is gay made me die
Thats awesomee!!! You guys should try redrawing art from your favourite anime artbooks :D
honestly really happy you guys are doing a channel like this, its rekindling my want to try and pick up analogue art again especially when you see so much digital nowadays. I think you guys have a much stronger grasp and execution on pen and paper than you guys give yourself credit for.
I'm actually doing my own drawing project of drawing all sailor scouts from the original Sailor Moon series with the girls in their school uniforms, and their sailor scout outfits as well. Loved this episode of spilled ink, hope there will be more fun and creative artwork on this channel☺☺☺
Hey! Just wanna ask where have you watched the Old Sailor Moon show?
@@marinadanabasheva7350 unfortunately, I have not. Just seen clips or pictures from it…
Daidus: "Which ones Twinkie Winkie??" Me FR: 🤨
First time I've ever seen this channel, and I am in LOVE with this format. I love watching the drawing process and seeing it done traditionally is twice as fun to watch. I also loved the candid conversations!
This is honestly slowly becoming my favorite channel, even with the amount of videos that have been posted. I already love both daidus and Emily but combine them together, and have them reinvigorate our love for traditional art. We love to see it!!
As a kid I always refused to watch Sailor Moon because I thought it was "too girly", which is hilarious because I was the kind of kid who loved playing with dolls and pretend I was raising a baby but apparently Sailor Moon was a bridge too far for child me.
So my biggest association with Sailor Moon is friends on Discord who use Sailor Moon characters as profile pictures which is why my favourite Sailor Scout is Sailor Uranus because she reminds me of my friend.😊
Also because her name is really funny.
Haha Sailor Butthole😂
You guys should definitely consider watching the Sailor Moon remake (Sailor Moon Crystal). It more closely follows the manga and is a great watch! Its fun the compare the differences between the two!
this channel has so quickly become my happy place. thank you for all the work you put into making this channel and these videos happen!
They came out beautifully. Really love the iconic poses. The coloring is definitely the hard part since you can erase what you apply
I LOVE U DAIDUS.....also emi i guess youre cool too
Edit: i guess people dont get jokes and sarcasm anymore
They’re both hella cool wtf you mean?😂
This is such an odd comment.. like why are you saying one is worse 😭😭
They are both cool
@@Losit0 just little bit of banter :D
Well- I guess Daidus has another significant other to add to his list.
I was also a no cable kid and I had my papa record Yugioh for me every weekend on the same VHS tape. I would watch the tape and then give it back to him to record over it again. That's also how I watched a bunch of anime on Adult Swim because he would just let the tape record until it ended on its own. That's how I watched Code Geass for the first time. One of my favorite anime's of all time.
seeing your guy's frustration REALLY makes me feel better about my own experiences with coloring. the struggle is real y'all 😭
When I tell you I'm actively waiting for a new spilled ink video everyday! It so fun watching emily and daidus doing art💗
When they both say we don't wanna show us but Daidus and Emily already told us in childhood crushes 2 😭
Daidus drawing is so pretty! I adore it so much!
I really recommend using bristol paper with alcohol markers, when I used to be a trad artist it was my go to 👌🏻 and for inking, a light table / tablet (don't know what they're called) is really useful!
Both your works are so frigging pretty, it was so funny seeing you both rage at the results XD
For Daidus problem: If you're too afraid to try a color on the paper, use a secondary paper to make the blending (for example, put the skin color base you have on the main drawing, then try the reds you wanted to try on top.) If its too vague with just the color to help you, do the quickiest miniature copy of the part from the main drawing you are trying to test (im talking like a 30sec copy, its just to test colors after all), then do the test of colors there, giving you a better sense of what to apply to the main one.
This is helpful not just for begginings, even if you get used to copics, maybe sometimes you want to try different palettes and dont want to test it on the main drawing, so you just do quick silly miniature copies of it elsewhere and try your different palettes on each.
For both of you on copics: Usually the brush tip is the goat, and the hard tip is for very few intentionally hard lines, but its always up to preferences. The only thing to bear in mind is the stroke, whichever tip you use remember the brushstroke shows, thats why for the apple for example the book specified "try to follow the lines of the texture of a real apple". Nevertheless you both did amazing, regardless of being new at these you both have a lot of prior general knowledge so its no surprise.
Its really cute how you both positively encourage each other to get better together!
I do recommend keeping scrap paper on the side, i use it when using colored pencils to test how colors look and blend together! It helps a lot!
I appreciate this video because I could draw my fav sailor while imagining I have friends I can draw with 👍x'D also the serious talk about Telettubies was gold lol
This was really fun! I hope you guys make this a series and draw more of your favorite characters in Copix
Aint nothing like watching a chill drawing video after working 10 hours! I'm loving the channel so far
OMG toonami, fellow millennial here! in the late ninties, it was Ronin Warriors, Sailormoon, DBZ, YuYu Hakasho (do not remember how to spell xD), eventually they added Gundam Wing, another gundam one but i liked Gundam Wing, Thundercats (they were normally on right before people got home from school lol), Tenchi Muyo.. although i may be mixing in a little Adult Swim when that started up, they had like Outlaw Star, Rironi Kenshin (again spelling lol), Inuyasha....
i miss the old days
Emily's drawing looks amazing as usual, but Daidus struggling the whole time is so much more relatable lmao
Work keeps me too busy to draw anymore. So its great to listen and watch you guys draw and learn new things.
