  • Nothing says 'click on this video' like Kirk Hammett with googly eyes! But seriously, this new Wah pedal from Joyo is fantastic! The Joyo Multi Wah is well made, compact, and contains a wide array of different Wah tones. Finished in a beautiful, bright red color and all for around $80, if you're looking for a budget friendly guitar effect to add to your collection, this Wah is a great choice. It's my new favorite.
    You can grab these pedals from Amazon or Ebay!

    Thanks for the review Max, I decided to get one after watching this and I am elated beyond words. I have been searching for a WAH that had a deeper "scoop" than my cry-baby and less tone dampening, I also have been itching for a volume pedal for a while now...Got this pedal and it is absolutely blowing my mind how good it is for the price. Thanks again

    Just got one of these because of this video - it's really good. Love it. It's the 5th wah that I've tried now, and I think this is the one.
    I prefer the ones that turn out without having to click a knob, but I guess I can live with that. I usually have a volume pedal right at the beginning of the chain... and a wah at the end (before compressor and reverb)... it's really cool being able to have a volume at both ends of the chain.
    So like, thank you :)

  • @PhillipLandmeier
    @PhillipLandmeier Před 5 lety +10

    Fantastic. Thanks for posting this. You just saved me money and solved a problem. I want a volume pedal and a wah pedal, but I don't have room on my pedalboard for both. I'm not going to use both of them simultaneously, obviously. Combine them into one pedal. Plus, this pedal is small. Wonderful. I already have one Joyo pedal, the Deluxe Crunch, which is built well and works well. This wah pedal will be my next purchase.
    I'm an electronics engineer, and I suspect the "quality" control is confusing to people, but it's perfectly ordinary in electronics engineering. A full explanation of this would be difficult here, especially without being able to draw or show graphs.
    When you're talking about tuned circuits or filters (like a wah pedal or thousands of circuits used in radio and many other things), there's a factor or figure that we call "Q". Q originates from the word Quality, and dates back almost 100 years. It refers to the sharpness of the tuning of a tuned circuit -- how narrow the passband is or how sharply a filter cuts off. Today, it has nothing to do with good or bad, and that's where the confusion arises. It's a number that defines the frequency response of a tuned circuit.
    So a wah pedal with its filter set to a relatively low Q gives a smoother, less radical response. A relatively high-Q response gives the more radical sound of, say, Jimi Hendrix playing Voodoo Child.
    This technical part you can skip: Q is an actual number that varies from 0 to around 100 in practical circuits you can build with ordinary components (inductors and capacitors). (Digital filters allow circuit Q much higher than this.) In a tuned circuit (resonant), say in a conventional radio, consisting of an inductor (L) and a capacitor (C), the Q is easily calculated by dividing the inductive reactance of the inductor (in ohms) by the DC resistance of the inductor (in ohms). That's the Q.
    Back in the earlier days of radio, sharp, narrow tuning was a desirable thing. To get that you needed high Q. All kinds of methods were developed for winding coils (inductors) so they gave the highest reactance with the least resistance, resulting in higher Q and sharper tuning, so it was natural to call this factor "quality". And that's where the term comes from originally.
    If you know the Q of a tuned circuit, you can graph the frequency response curve directly.

  • @davidkulmaczewski4911

    The "Quality" knob controls the shape of the filter, which is often called the "Quality Factor" or just "Q". It does in fact measure the "quality" of the filter, in terms of how much of the signal's energy is preserved as it passes through. For a wah pedal (or a typical LPF on a subtractive synthesizer), "Q" is a measure of resonance... the higher the Q, the more resonant the filter.

  • @riffdigger2133
    @riffdigger2133 Před 5 lety +1

    Great for the price and compact for a pedalboard. The Crybaby 535Q with the big Q knob and the distortion button make it my favorite as others have mentioned. Plus the 535Q comes with a nice diagram card to adjust the multiple settings to Jimmy Page, Hendrix and about 5 other players and I found that helpful. Wah pedals do breakdown so this would be a good back-up or alternative.

    So I clicked the link in the description and I ordered this beauty. I am happy with! I was going to get a crybaby or some other wall like I used to have back in the day. What I like about this is you can control the dynamic range of the wall and you can also control the center the point of the frequency with the dial. I haven't played much with the volume function but no doubt you can make so many sounds. I played this through my Mesa Boogie tube amp band The tones I was getting sounded so good. When you dial in the right frequency on your guitar and then get the center point of the frequency to where you want it you can create some amazing tonal variations and also have your foot where you want it to be. This means if you want a really warm tone going into a slightly higher frequency you can do that or if you want a nice fat mid-tone going into a nice bright sound you can also set that up. I spent well over an hour just playing the same basic sound and moving knobs around and then changing the sound a little bit and doing the same thing. If you need a wah-wah pedal, this one is awesome. I hope it is durable. But if it lasts a year and then breaks I would probably just replace it with this one again. Its versatility would excuse some durability issues if there were any but I won't be taking this from place to place too much. This is part of my studio setup.

You could've spent more time on showing what the selector switch various settings do and the various sound colors you can create, instead of showing off your guitar techniques. Good review Max. I have it and I love it for all that you describe. Here are a few things I found as I owned it. It does the sudden cut at the bottom so swells take practice. I have yet to find the perfect volume wah combo pedal that does it all perfectly. The rest of the stuff this does is great. My major issue is that this seems to be wearing out after 6 months. The action of the pedal is starting to get play and a little loose and so it affects the accuracy of control on both wah and volume. I haven't figured how to adjust that issue. Tools would have to be really small or specialized. I put it through relatively heavy use. Probably 3-4 times a week 1 hour. I will see if joyo replaces/stands behind it and see how long the next one lasts. Dunlop are mostly bullet proof but that costs. I'm trying mooer next

My eyes may be going but I find it hard resolve the silver letters against the bright red/orange case. My problem, just whining. Please stay honest, cause when watching other "big" CZcamsrs I can't help but feel that they are full of... Well you know. In general, the guitar world, probably like anything else these days, is all marketing and profit driven in an aggressive and careless way. This idea of better tone is shoved down our throats too aggressively. Well maybe it's part of evolution and we need to adapt and stay more alert. But it still doesn't feel nice

    I don't know if Red makes my top 3 favorite primary colors but it def makes top 5(just behind Chartreuse and Drunk Tank Pink)

    I'm more of a rock & roll player, do you think this would suit more vintage rock?

    Sounds like a great wah, but I bought my Morley for like 50 bucks used and I love it.. I'm sure you still love yours.. Great video though.. I want the Tremonti Morley wah when I get the chance to buy one because it' also has the boost built in.. Great sounding wah though..

    Theres one on Reverb right now (July 8th) for 60 bucks and 3.99 shipping. Theres also a black one on a different site, but I’m not entirely sure that it’s the same pedal.

    #primaryonpurpose come on guys, you know he did that on purpose. The man is a pilot, takes care of his physique, and shreds on guitar. It was definitely on purpose.
    As for the pedal, I picked it up because of this review for $63 on Amazon. Easily one of the best Wah pedals I’ve owned so far.

    What I don't like about the pedal is, when I'm doing nothing and WAH is engaged, there is a grounding problem, where I can hear the local radio station coming from the speaker

    I'm fairly new to your channel and am really digging it! The budget gear reviews I particularly love as I'm getting back into playing after a while away (drums). As an at-home player, the budget gear really fits for me. What's your take, or can you potentially do a video, on digital multi effects pedals, i.e. Donner Digital Effects vs Behringer Digital FX? Keep up the awesome content and great original music!!

    For me, yeah sure some wahs sound better than others, but the Bad Horsie's automatic functionality is a hands-down winner. I have a lot of things to remember to do when I play a show, and the last thing I need is remembering to turn off the wah. You sometimes can't even hear that it's still on when there is a lot of noise on stage. So, automatic wah for me when playing live only. :)

    Can you give reference to how it sounds compared to a cry baby.... I did not hear Voodoo Chile... and can it be adjusted to play like an old vox wah or a cry baby?... I have a multi fx board Me-80 with a built in wah pedal... that I get nothing very good out of because it is so complex... still have yet to try and mimic my old vintage fx board that got stolen out of my garage. wish I had the $$$ to buy all the original components over again..
