I knew of this guy. He restored a LOT of old cars. These cars were just the left overs of it all. He restored a 56 oldsmobile convertible and a 55 chevy convertible amoung others. I knew about those two cars because he bought them from my dad. He sold all the nice stuff a few years ago..

Agree...if I could have just one, it would be that one. A '56 Olds 98 four-door hardtop is a rare and quite special car. Even if it's not restorable, it would provide a trove of good parts and probably some rare accessories; he does mention power windows, and being a top of the line 98, it's probably loaded.

Greetings from the UK, interesting video as usual. I think you will find that the car you described as a Ford convertible with not much left is British Ford MK11 Zephyr or Zodiac manufactured between 1956 & 1961. Early models were known as Highlines and the later ones were Lowlines because they had a lower roof line. These had a straight six engine fitted , there was also Consul model with a four cylinder engine. Hope my identification is correct as you didn’t get very close when filming.

That old IH is an Emeryville built in California should be a model DCO. This model came before the CO4000 series. The GMC large dump truck is a 9500, the twin stacks are a dead giveaway to it having a 8V-71 Detroit diesel. Cool video!

The IH 18 wheeler was an Emeryville. That was the one before the transtar 4070. They also built one with a hood, looks a lot like the old b-61 Mack. IH quit making these trucks in 66 or 67, but I think it's 66. The single headlights designate a Detroit engine. Probably 6v-71 238hp AKA "Screaming 238".

Actually as much as it may hurt, unfortunately most of those vehicles are to far gone. It is very important though that those vehicles can be donors for cars that can be saved. I helped a friend clean up the rest of a giant junkyard with over 700 cars. The vehicles that reamained unsold went mainly to the crusher. I helped saving bits and pieces off the vehicles that had to die. Unfortunately not much was usale at the end.

Here's the irony.. you could of walked into his yard and offered him $100 for any of that rust bucket yard art now for cars, and the old coot would of told you to get bent. But now that he's dead, it will sell for 10x that, but he won't get a single cent of it... for any of them at all... because he's dead. he should of taken the $100 while he had a chance. Let this be a lesson to all you pack rats - you can't take any of it with you, and you'll never get around to doing anything with any of it. Turn it over to someone else who will be a better steward of the property.
