    Great video Jim. I bought a Hyundai Ioniq EV from Cinch. Came with no service records, checked with Hyundai and they only had the first service recorded on their system but said if Cinch had serviced it to Hyundai specifications they would honour the remaining 5 year warranty. Cinch finally sent me details of the service they performed before delivery which stated an oil and oil filter change. Hyundai (once they had recovered from the fits of laughter) said their was no way they could honour the warranty. Car went back to Cinch.... It was a lot of time spent hanging around on the phone and waiting 14 days for my money to be refunded, which meant I couldn't buy another car for a few weeks.

      Shame as their customer service people are really good but there’s obviously an issue or two for them to iron out. I hope someone from Cinch watches the video and reads the comments objectively

    Bought a Leaf from Cinch a month or so back. 100% happy with the purchase. Did have a delivery issue, but to be honest we worked through it just fine.
    I think Cinch have handled your case just fine so far. 3 weeks is a long wait, as are 20 minute phone holds, but I think are understandable given the nature of the company.
    It’s buyer choice at the end of the day. Plenty of local dealers around to buy cars from if you demand higher/faster service levels.
    The proof will be in the pudding so to speak. Will their repair van turn up on time? Will they fix the problem first time on the drive way? Will they honour their compensation offer?
    If the answers yes to all 3 questions then I don’t see what you have to complain about.

  • @stanthesteelguitarman8228

    Great video Jim. I bought a Skoda Citigo from them two years ago. After taking delivery, I found that there was no service record with it. I could see that the car must have been well maintained during its 16,000 miles over three years. The brakes and clutch were set just right and the brake disks looked almost new. Even the windscreen and rear window wipers had been changed over to Bosche. Thus, I had no issues with the car. What I do strongly feel is that VW, Ford and many other manufacturers should not be allowed, by law, to have the service records hidden, with no access by the owner, without obtaining them from an "approved" dealer. A service book, in my opinion, should have to be provided with the car.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Před 29 dny +2

      I got an Audi in January, no service book because its all logged on the Audi dealer system. I have print outs of the services done, so that is OK, but its still annoying that there is no book. So I bought one, put cars details on it, stapled the Audi records into it so it is all in one place. Will get this new book stamped when car gets serviced & MOT'd.

    Mate, love your channels and accept they should have picked up the issue with the sensor before delivery but to be fair you never noticed in your walk round. Its probably just been over exuberant power washing/polishing and then they’ve drove it straight onto the trailer. Bottom line is they are going to fix it and their customer service doesn’t actually sound the worse? It’s a 2nd hand car and you’re always going to get the odd issue but as long as it’s fixed I don’t see it as a big problem. Watched the EV man’s review of his and it’s a cracking wee car, most efficient thing on the road and decent looks & spec. For me that’s a great choice as a 2nd car and if you get some tax relief too then it’s an absolute no brainer! Looking forward to your reviews of the car and hearing if Cinch are good to their word re the repair and sweetening the buying experience. Keep up the good work mate 👍

    Cinch have great customer service, but horrendous prep. Bought a 2019 focus, within an hour of having it delivered i knew there was an issue. Turned out it needed a replacement gearbox. After 2 months of back and forth it was returned for a full refund. Replaced it with a 530e, great car but says its due a service in August. They claimed to have done the service, I've seen the paperwork, but they didn't reset the service light. It did need a tyre prior to delivery and credit to them they fitted a pirelli, not a budget one

    The charging interface in the car is the one thing I couldn't understand how they engineered it (I have the eUp). The button is to engage/disengage charging "schedule" but that can only be accessed via the app! I still haven't worked out exactly how to easily get it to charge to 100%, when I need a long trip. I just set the car schedule to charge to 90% at max amperage. Everything else in the car is easy, no fuss, including the analogue battery gauge!

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru

Good luck sorting it out. I'll be interested to see what the real world winter range of the car is and how quickly it rapid charges (assuming it can?). The electric charge possibly should have been explained or thoroughly checked , but saying that whenever I buy a new car well as I won't ever buy another brand new car again last was back in 01 usually buy at 2 to 3 years old I go through manual that comes with the car. When I bought our 14 plate DS3 Dsport Thp I pressed something and the car was ringing & ringing an extremely loud dialing tone. I kept on pressing it but nothing happened i turned ignition off & the car still carried on. I phoned the dealer he said I think it's something to do with DS assistance but didn't know how to stop it . Anyway comes out as the car was out of warranty & the first owner hadn't kept up with the subscription so the car wasn't connecting to DS assistance etc. Simple I no longer touch the button . Regarding reversing sensors both.our cars an 09 Saab 93 sportwagon Vector CTDI & the DS3 both have problems when the cars need a good wash they . When the cars are clean they work great. You want a minimum £500 for inconvenience so ask for a £1000.asking for more you won't get but I'm sure £500 isn't too bad.

    I'd lease an electric car tomorrow, I couldn't afford to buy one, but at the moment, the increased cost of insurance and the cost of installing a home charger is putting me off. It makes no sense using a public charger, that's no cheaper than running a petrol/diesel car in the majority of cases and when the Government impose road tax next year, as the last lot threatened to do, the case for an electric car is even harder to justify.

    Tried to buy a car from Cinch. Wasn't sure about doing it online but all started well, their px value was higher than other dealers and webuyanycar and the online purchase was easy. Little tracker that told me they were preparing it which updated to say it was at the local centre a couple of days before delivery.
    On the morning of delivery, got a call about 9:30 to tell me their transporter had broken down. Not a big deal, local centre is only about 5 miles away so I assumed they could drive it over but no, the car was over 200 miles away and the Cinch person told me the little tracker is just based on timings not where the car actually is.
    After several hours on hold or on their chat function, they offered to deliver the car several days later, actually later than they would have delivered a car if I'd ordered again.
    They did promise to refund the money we'd lost insuring a car we didnt have, albeit never received that refund.
    Order cancelled and I'll never use an online retailer again

    Hi Jim. Great video. Very interesting.
    Sorry to hear about the parking sensor issue. Blimey! The main dealer strikes again haha!
    I really hope Cinch come good and you do end up keeping the car. Even though this isn't a "heart" car, I reckon you'll end up growing to love it. It looks like a lovely little thing in and out👌🏼
    If I may just say, Jackie and I bought our little "no frills" (didn't even have a clock in it haha), very basic Skoda Citigo brand new back in 2012, we did so very much with our heads, as we needed CHEAP, but really wanted to buy ourselves a new car because we'd never indulged in such a thing before, and certainly haven't since.
    The Citigo was cheap in every respect and continues to be so. Despite that, it's been a great little car and we've grown to love it for all the things it's really good at. In fact we'll never get rid of it, and when the day comes that it has to leave us for whatever reason we'll be quite sad to be totally honest. It doesn't really make you want to take the long way home, or look back at it as you walk away but we've still grown to love it nonetheless. I really do think the Mii will do the same for you👍🏼
    I hope your Mii journey continues, and I look forward to seeing your thoughts on it. In my world it looks like a lovely upgrade to our little Citigo. Maybe one day 🤞🏼
    Well done matey 👍🏼

    How exactly is a car going to be for business purposes for a youtube business. I know you're incorprated and can claim capital allowances where a business purpose exists. The car sounds like its mainly a personal vehicle, so you may receive a knock from HMRC if they see this video.
    What proportion of the cars' miles are for a genuine business purpose? What travel does a youtuber that works from home have exactly.
    There's no way repairs, tyres, and mot are business expenses.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Před měsícem +2

      It’s a company car that can be used for business and personal use, no great issue with that; you pay benefit in kind / company car tax personally. I use my cars for business all the time as the teleporter broke down. My business isn't just CZcams by the way. How do you think we get to events, post office, bank, meetings, car shows, drive days, car launches etc I wonder? I make content with them too - that’s pretty much hitting the nail on the head when it comes to business use for a content creation company.

    • @Ozzy1984_
      @Ozzy1984_ Před 29 dny

      @front2427 I'm sorry, but I do know what I'm talking about. If he paid cash for the car using company money, only capital allowances are allowed, plus a proportion of expenses to maintain. The car is clearly going to be used primarily as a personal use vehicle, so the benefit in kind tax, returned via the P11d will be required. For second hand evs a company can only claim 18% of price per year as a deduction, not the cost of the car. Company must pay employers NIC in the value of the benefit too. If you both think you can just put the cost of the car through in full, and fuel costs in full too, thats dodgy.
      Your company must file a P46 and P11d every year the car is a business asset. Honestly, for an 8K car the effort and tax savings rely aren't worth putting through the business. Don't tell me to speak to an accountant, because I am one.
