They really made the Drive/RAM upgrades super easy with this laptop. Good purchase back when I was living out of someone else's house and didn't have space for a PC. 1TB M.2 SSD went in last week and it feels like an entirely different beast. The RAM will be going in this week which will hopefully be good for some extra multitasking.
That was my experience as well. The SSD can make a much bigger perceived difference, depending on what you're doing.
I love my Lappy. Edited a 6 hour music festival video this summer after the ram upgrade, and render times were better than folks with better specced rigs.

Thank you for being an inspiration about your past mistakes. (do's and dont's) hahaha.
Happy to help!!
Today upgraded the ram :) you deserves more subs and support bro ❤️
Aw, thanks! Glad it worked out!
Just updated my ram following your video. Thanks!

i have Nitro AN515-51-77VW . can you suggest memory module 16gb for upgrade
Hey, I have this exact laptop/model. I just upgraded to 2x16Gb; ( Samsung 16Gb 2Rx8 PC4-2400T-SA1-11 ) and my system is going into BOSD (blue screen of death) error in 30min of usage with and I ran 'Window memory diagnostic' it shows ram issue. Could you plz help me if you have any info regarding same. or you faced this issue ever?
Does it work with just 1 stick of the new RAM?
This is awesome, i was confused for the first vida i saw because it was the 2019 2020 version, then i found this. Freakin awesome

Hello, I got a Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz ram stick and I was wondering if you know any way to increase it to be 3200 MHz by any chance?
Sorry, no. The max speed is 2400MHz. community.acer.com/en/discussion/541255/acer-nitro-5-an515-51-ram-upgrade#:~:text=It%20can%20only%20support%20up%20to%202400MHz.

Great to hear! Sub for more how-to and unboxing vids coming out soon!
Thanks a lot, I was able to upgrade my laptop ram from 8 to 16 GB cuz of your help
Nice!
Installed 2 ram sticks and it's only reading 1. Any assistance will help
Try re-seating the RAM, or swapping their spots.
Can I mix one hyperx and keep the original ram in?
You can in theory, just make sure the bus speeds are the same.
Tysm for the help.
You're so very welcome!
when you install the other ram stick, you put everything back together and boot it back up or do we do something in the settings in order to use the other 8 go that I added
It should recognize the RAM right away.
Bespoke Booth thank you!
@@tooraw3094 you're very welcome!
@ARES ! Absolutely! Just make sure you match DDR type and speed. (Mine was 2400mhz, for example.)
question. its fine if i use a different brand right? i only need to use the same ram speed right 2400mhz? i was thinking of adding another 8gb stick but i couldnt fine another adata 8gb 2400mhz where i live. i could only find hyper x, crucial etc.
While I can't guarantee anything, that *should* be fine.
Remember to check after installation to ensure you're in dual channel mode.
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 ok got it.
what if i have 2933 mhz ram built in on laptop but i bought another 3200 mhz 8gb?? does it work fine??
Ideally, you want your RAM sticks to match bus speed.
whick model is this?
looks like Nitro 5 2018.
Nailed it!
Thanks. Helping
Excellent!
what is the model of your laptop???
Acer Nitro 5 2017
Thank you for the guide. Question : How is the performance of this laptop after the upgrade ? Did you notice any change regarding thermal issues ?
It increased heat. The fans definitely run harder since the RAM swap.
Hi bro. Can it support 2933mhz? 2666mhz is better or 2933mhz? Thx a lot ☺️
With the version shown in the video, max is 2400. You could technically use 2666, but would see no appreciable increase in speed.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!
You're so very welcome!
Anyone know what ram is in the an515-53-52fa model? So I can just buy another stick of the same company.
Edit: nvm! Found it
what is it?
Buying this computer Friday 🖥
How did you like it?
I've just bought my Acer nitro 5 is 9th gen and gtx 1650. Tell good ramsticks
What is the full part number on the bottom of your laptop? Ex. AN-515... etc...
im really a SUPER BEGINNER about tech stuff. can you tell me what size of screwdriver i should be using?
im sorry if it was a very stupid question
Very small phillips.
Does this laptop support 2666MHz memory module ?
On mine anyway, it's only up to 2400mhz.
I just bought the nitro 5. 1 terabyte. 3.4ghz. 8gb ram. I wanted it for gaming but realize it's fairly entry level. Since I bought it 5months ago I thought it was 2020 version. But after many video reviews I watched. This may be the 2018 version? It has those easy compartments to open.
Sorry for the long winded message. I'm new to the gaming pc world. Be nice to upgrade my ram like this
If you're using it for gaming, the easiest way to decrease load times may be to upgrade to SSD if you don't already have one.
After that, the RAM is also an easy install.
What processor do you have?
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 amd ryzen 5 2500u. 2400mhz 8gig ram.
I went from 8gb to 24gb but I want to know what's the fastest ram it can handle is it 2666mhz or 3200mhz?
2933Mhz, so CL 3200 would be great.
you need to disconect the battery or just shut down the laptop? Nice video
Thank you! Disconnecting the battery is ideal, but a major pain. So your best bet is to discharge any static electricity you may have in your body. czcams.com/video/1LkPgWxNZ-4/video.html
You could just separate the sides with your fingers too, it’s a lot easier than using a guitar pic when removing the ram
If you have nice, skinny fingertips, or long nails, sure! I don't have either, so I find that a guitar pick can be quite useful.
i saw your keystrokes in the reflection of the screen
Don't worry, password has changed. ;)
could you make a video where the camera is even further away from the thing your doing thanks
Probably not, but I'm doing a hard drive video soon and could make you a special copy from 6' away.
That work?
Now a lot of people may not like the video because he made a common mistake but in my opinion it shows how to fix a rookie mistake.
Thank you! That's why I left it in the video.
What version is the nitro 5?
2017
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 thanks
@@Lymeng5777 you're so welcome!
my newer slot doesnt detect the ram and gives black screen with keyboard lights on. the rams work individually perfectly on the older slot
Have you tried just the new slot?
I had the same issue with hyperx 2666 16gbs. Maybe there's a firmware update to work the 2666mhz model? 😔
@@LucasDev you can try this out mate czcams.com/video/Q1OZQL2l-lM/video.html
Does the ram have to be the same brand???
Ideally yes, but you should be fine so long as they are the same speed. You can even mismatch but it is a waste of money and resources for the faster stick as it will underclock to match the lowest speed stick.
Same brand that I used? No.
Same brand in each slot? Ideally.
As Poodz stated, you'll be limited to the lowest clock speed, plus some sticks of RAM don't play nice together.
Are you putting another stick of RAM in the dual channel? Or the single channel?
I swapped out both sticks and run in dual channel mode. Does that help?
Bespoke Booth so that means that you have 16GB of RAM in the dual channel? Sorry for asking all this, I’m kinda new to all this tech stuff.
@@tye.3388 There are 2 slots available for the ram. 16gb in each slot.
Dual-channel refers to how your computer processes and uses the ram. It's possible to have both slots filled and still run in 'single channel' mode. You would still have access to both sticks, but it wouldn't run as fast as 'dual channel'.
Disclaimer: Trying to use 2 *different* sticks of RAM generally means that you can't use dual channel mode, so pay attention to Speed(mHz) and Size(GB) when selecting your RAM.
If you already have one stick of RAM installed and want to add just one more, be sure to match Speed and Size to the existing RAM.
Hope that helps!
Bespoke Booth thank you! How exactly do I put RAM in dual channel mode? Or how do I figure out if my laptop is running in dual channel?
@@tye.3388 The easiest way to see if you're in Dual-Channel mode is with a little freeware program called CPU-Z. You can find it at: www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
Once you have that installed, click on the "Memory" tab, and it will show you "Channel #:" in the top right of the window. If it says Dual, you're golden!
Hey
I'm thinking of upgrading my Acer Nitro an515-51 from 8GB ram to 16GB. Is it worth it? Would i feel a major difference? :)
Hope to hear from some of you awesome peeps :)
Multitasking is where you would feel the most difference with upgraded ram. The CPU is the biggest bottleneck in the system, in my opinion, since thermals can be the biggest challenge with this platform. In other words, take the performance gains where you can get them. Are you running an SSD?
Hey did u did that ?
@@subhasishkarmakar6737 I did! It made a difference instantly, especially when editing video.
This was a awesome video!! I do have one question can Someone just use Any means of adding Ram. I see you used hyper x, some other websites are recommending crucible etc. Does it really matter?
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Your brand doesn't matter that much as long as you pick something reputable.
The most important thing to do is match your RAM bus speed. A matching pair of RAM sticks is the easiest way to guarantee this, but you can also check the sticker on your existing stick of RAM if you're just buying one more.
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 NICE!!!! Thank you so much There is a lot for me to learn!!! Thank you for the reply as well!!

Does this have four ram slots ?? Please reply
Just the 2 slots.
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 so the 8 gb ram coming with it is not soldered right?
@@thelynx6871 that's right!
What was the mistake you did, that i should not?
I didn't seat the RAM properly in the slots and closed it all up before testing.
The RAM won't fall out, so give your laptop a test boot and confirm that the new RAM stick(s) are showing up in your system. Once you see them, power down your laptop again and finish putting things back together.
When I installed my ram it was 8 gb I bought another 8 to make it 16 when I did that I swear I didn’t even get 16 gb ram I legit just got the same 8 I need help I installed it correctly
Have you tried swapping the ram in the slots? The most common issue is often not seating the ram properly.
Bespoke Booth well I have 2 ram slots 1 DEFUALT that is came with the 8 gb one and the second is a upgradable well I put it there and still I don’t get my other 8
Bespoke Booth it’s so sad I wanted to upgrade to 16 to fix the FPS drops
Bespoke Booth can you please make a video and try to explain because brother I typed way to many comments and no one tried to help so I found you and I need your help
@@GhanemAlKaabi Super-happy to help! Try pulling out your existing ram first, and install your new ram in that slot.
Does your computer boot up after that?
ugh i got a 2020 acer nitro 5 why couldnt they keep this easy design????? i guess ill have to do this the hard way
I had a slightly larger screw driver than the actual screws but I somehow managed (it was with this model tho)
Oh, wow.
You're right, this is easier for the ram swap.
The only advantage to the new design (that I can see) is that upgrading your Hard Drive looks easier.
No damage?
@@marcusfrombespokeaudio5372 0 dmg. After almost 2 months using 16gb ram, I can say it was worth it. I can play rust without it freezing after 6 seconds and crashing my laptop. And it runs at a consistent 60+FPS. The only bottle neck is the graphics card which I cant change. Even if it was just 1 step up to 1050ti it would be a fair bit better y’know
@@SgtSnowballs good to hear!
can you add 32 gb ram?
You could, but the MoBo in this laptop will only utilize up to a *Total* of 32GB.
