Hello, doctor. I just received my IOTA - adnex result. It was inconclusive with 9.2% risk of malignancy. Should i be worried or is it a sign that it could just be a benign tumor with high flow of blood? I was already about to have my period during the test. I hope you can help me figure out.. Thank you

Hi - I am sorry that I cannot give individual advice; you should really ask your own healthcare provider. Many units use a 10% cut-off for malignancy. Generally speaking if you were due a period, you might have ovulated and this might have shown as a corpus luteum in the ovary, which can look confusing...if in any doubt, your healthcare provider will probably repeat the scan. I hope this helps, best wishes

It could be an ovarian remnant cyst or if it’s on the right side, arising from the appendix
