Goldwing ride to the Peak District and Winnats Pass, and we made some new friends!

- We have a day out in the Peak District meeting some new friends on their new Goldwing!
Check out the High Peak Bookstore for loads of new books and a fab cafe and The Olive Tree at Sparrowpit at the top of Winnats pass for excellent food.

Its a memory for me, i first did this drive in 1978 in a TR6, , its changed little since then, i must get back there, I have a Kawasaki Vulcan cruiser but my wife has now said i must retire from riding it being 73 !!!

You had a TR6? I'm envious! I drove a GT6 for a few years but I dreamed of owning a TR.
73 isn't too old to ride! At least that's what I'll be telling myself when I get to that age.....
my great Aunt used to live in the Peak District . My grandma,her sister used to take me there as Kid. I remember being taken on the train from New Mills to Buxton and dragged around bored out of my skull. How we change i loved doing the maintenance on our sites down ( used to volunteer to do there and the high lands.
Hey,great to see you two out and about on the wing and the countryside was beautiful! Winter time here in the US means fewer comfortable days to ride so it's nice to ride along on this video with you guys!!
I've always found that when you're well prepared and have your rain gear on, it doesn't rain. BUT when the weather report says there's chance of rain and you leave your rain gear at home? Ha! That's when you'll be riding along, enjoying the sun on your face and suddenly the clouds move in, become dark and ominous, and in just a few short seconds, it's raining so hard you can barely see the ditches on either side of the road. (Forget seeing the road itself!) And of course, within second you're soaked! Ugh! Thanks for taking us along on your ride. The countryside there is beautiful! Quite "pastoral." :)
Isn't that the truth! It happened to us a couple of months ago - the first spots or rain started to fall just a few miles from home and we reckoned we'd make it home before the rain set in. Then it suddenly started raining heavily and we figured that stopping to get dressed would mean we'd be longer out in the rain and we'd get more wet than if we continued. So we continued and got soaked anyway! :)

Lovely video showing the beautiful scenery and thank you for reminding me of Winnats Pass. Probably not been to that area since the late 90s! My ears pricked up when you mentioned book store so am I the only one a little disappointed we didn’t get to see the inside of it? I’m sure we would all enjoy seeing the interiors of the cafes, pubs you visit too. Maybe next time? 🤞🏻
Nice videos, great to see a friendly couple enjoying ride outs on a Wing. Just bought my first one an early 5th gen and waiting for weather to warm up a bit ( v cold and damp at present ). Peak District is a lovely area, one of my favourites 👍

Hello Ann! Thanks for stopping by. My other bike (Kawasaki 650) is too wee for both of us, so Sarah insisted we but this Goldwing instead :)
You should have parked in the bulls head pub at castleton they've a huge car park round the back and do decent food too. Weve been on our bikes there.
