    Like others have already stated, an Armory Craft or DPM spring kit will take care of your issue. The comp is very effective sending a lot the energy to run the slide upward. Any good compensator will require tuning. I have an Icarus grip for the P365, it truly makes the best CCW gun under $1500.00 even better!

    I’ve researching the PMM comps and the Icarus EVO frame.
    But it’s clear that the comp requires spring tuning of some kind (maybe the DPM kit).
    The brass bouncing of the MRDoptic and back into the ejection port is a common theme.

    Great insight on the optics relation to malfunctions. I bought a VP9L with a Trijicon SRO for my wife, and she gets the same malfunctions that Ms Teya gets. It’s a function of ammo, how she holds the gun, how she reacts to the recoil impulse and importantly, the size of that optic!

  • @funkla65
    @funkla65 Před 2 lety +5

    IDK - I've seen you guys shoot just as well, with more mundane setups. Seems it needs more tinkering with load selection or spring rates before I'd proclaim it good to go.

    Way back during the 70s and 80s custom made guns came out with various lengths and porting designs for the 1911. The problem was that during speed rock drills,. the gas from the ports would hit the shooter's face and other parts of the body. A solution was to move the gun to the right so that the gas would expel towards the right side.
    A friend who did not care much for compensators,. opted to have the barrel attachment left unported, thus having a solid barrel weight which slightly dampens recoil but not as much as a compensator.. The size of the Icarus comp reminded me of that barrel weight. That is one nice pistol 🔫 GB!!

    Think red dots are cool. I have the xl & have pondered getting one.that brass was whopping that 507 every round w tia shooting. Hmmmm..keeping gun stock for now. Main reason is DS is what I prefer by far. GP is next gun I’m getting unless I see a super bargain.always on the lookout for used S&W revolvers. & anything else nice. Stock xl seems fine as is for me. Maybe put some grip tape. ?.have a urge to do something to it but it is good as is. For a striker fired that isn’t exactly my thang. Y’all be good.

    Could need some more break in still maybe? My 365 PMM didn't really have a break in period, but my 3.9 320 PMM had a period where it would only run nato or +p for about 300 rounds. Now it's all good with even 115 aluminum and that is now my favorite round to practice with.

  • @EvanDickersonM81
    @EvanDickersonM81 Před 2 lety +2

    Comped guns need hotter loads or softer springs.

    • @96stealth
      @96stealth Před 2 lety

      Not necessarily. I have a bunch of guns with a dot and comp with factory guide rod with no problems. The funny thing is my Sig P320 will have stovepipes here and there. Mostly just with steel or aluminum case, but they’re malfunctions non the less. Sig polymer guns just don’t scream reliability to me. Kinda meh.

    • @EvanDickersonM81
      @EvanDickersonM81 Před 2 lety

      @@96stealth pistol are typically under sprung just like rifles are over gassed this has the reliability of stock pistols and let them fire a range of ammunition. When you shoot Comped pistols the barrel hood is pressing against the top of the interior of the slide. This slows the action and causes the malfunctions you just saw. Kind of hard to blame this problem on sig when the only sig parts in this are the fire control unit. Every other part of that gun has been replaced.

    • @96stealth
      @96stealth Před 2 lety

      @@EvanDickersonM81 To me it’s still a yes and no. The design of how the slide works with the extractor and ejector are most likely with in spec of factory slides. Either way, like I’ve said you could take a completely factory P365 milled from the factory with a dot already on it. Get a threaded barrel and comp and have the same issues.
      That’s exactly what happened with my P320. Malfunctions are few and far between and mostly not brass, but it has more hang ups than my other guns. Which are mixed and matched, a couple P80’s and all factory with the exception of the comp, port or barrel.
      I have an XD mod.2 in 4”, and 3 XDM’s. I can put any of those slides on any lower. 2 of them have threaded barrels. The 3.8” elite (which has an aftermarket threaded barrel) and an Elite 4.5” w/factory TB. I’ve mixed the different guide rods with different spring weights. Tried probably 4 different comps. Changed triggers. Have had a few different optics and one of the XDMs has a dovetail mount even. Thousands of rounds and not one malfunction. I know this is the internet and anyone can make any claim, but it’s true. Plus a bunch more guns with similar set ups with virtually no issues.
      To continue the long rant 🤷‍♂️ (sorry) one thing I’ve noticed at least with the 320 is it’s a tight lockup when there’s a round chambered. Like unnecessary tight. Oh that helps with accuracy. Not in my testing. I bench test out to 50 yards and 320 was in line with any premium gun. Nothing amazing. Comparing the ease of extraction to like a Beretta PX4 is night and day. Pulling the slide back to get a round out of the chamber is like there’s not even a round in there. The Sig you feel every bit of getting that round out and that’s with both barrels that I have.
      Ok, different platform sample of one, but I’ve seen a lot people have issues with their Sigs and they just shrug their shoulders and say but it’s a Sig. Honest Outlaw has taken a lot of crap for the problems he’s had.
      Again just my experiences and research. Which is quite a bit. Not sold on their designs and there’s a lot to like.

    Kinda suprised to hear both of you rave about a gun that was consistantly malfunctioning. If you find the source of the problem (red dot or whatever) and can resolve the issue, then I might be more interested in this set up. As it is, it's a hard no for me.

    • @GBGuns

      It's an incredible shooting experience. We don't let third-party modifications impact our opinion of the object we're evaluating. This was a loaner kit sent to us with the dot on it so we ran it that way, if it were ours we'd have either tried a different dot or run it with irons and not had the issues.

      It's not the dot by itself that is causing the issue for this combo, it's the dot and the comp. The comp set the ejection in a slightly different direction which happens to hit the geometry of this dot model just right.

      Kinda. Compensators add weight at the end of the barrel where they apply the most leverage on the action. That requires more energy to move. Some compensators don't even need to be gas-efficient to work, they simply add weight and that's what reduces perceived recoil and muzzle flip.
