Robin Pecknold is one of those dudes that just has pure talent emanating off of him.
or as their original producer Phil Ek said upon meeting Robin "it was obvious he had talent coming out of his ass."
One of the most iconic squints in musical history
Robin Pecknold is my ethereal-folk daddy
song of the year
gabriel what about Fool's Errand? It's a tie
these folks are so good it makes me cry
Hehehe não sou o único!
Agreed!
IKR!
I know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Richard Duke instablaster :)
it's actually incredible how well they translate their in-studio material into live......
I really didn’t have my hopes high AT ALL seeing this as my first fleet foxes video. I only know this song of theirs and I thought no way in hell are they going to get the grandeur, mixing, and band sync. Just wow they really did it full justice
saw this tour live. its incredible how the bass player sings dual-lead vocal basically the entire set. dude is such an integral part. they only show it a few frames this video but dude sings on 90% of the parts.
It'll be a long time before I get over how beautiful this song is, how some songs you just enjoy and that's it but this one, among few, is a song that truly fulfills your soul or spirit too.
Wenz Murillo I agree on your distortion comment, but are you really going to say all their songs sound the same? The only way one could confidently say that is if they havent adequately listened to their music. Give Helpless Blues a go, listen to the whole album. I promise you won't come back and say they all sound the same.
Hmm. At what point did I say that their songs sound the same? I love Fleet Foxes and is one of my all time favorite bands and I've listened to all of their songs and album so you don't have to tell me to listen to Helplessness Blues because I have. Countless of times. You clearly misunderstood my comment. What I meant with 'how some songs you just enjoy' is that there are some songs (not Fleet Foxes' songs at all) that are enjoyable but that's it, not like Third of May which is just fulfilling to a great extent.
Wenz Murillo it appears our friend Nick replied to the wrong comment. See Bobby Robertson's comment above...
Oh, that makes sense. Thank you. :)
Yea, sorry guys
love how they have got their songs down so perfectly live
this song is a fuckin' masterpiece.. and his voice.. man..
Robin is rocking the maritime navigator look. I guess he always has.
Come on, Hooper, hurry it up! Tie it on!
Dockworker chic
I've listened to this probably literally at least 100 times and I still get chills and physical goosebumps throughout the song.
Wen't away to college to collect knowledge and comes back exactly the same. Good for him. Proud of him really.
Robin's voice is flawless! I don't get it!!! Also I remember watching videos of them when Skyler was a legit baby and now look at him. I'm like a proud mom
Julia G He has become a proud elf.
This guy’s voice…….I have no words other than Thank you for giving me an escape❤
I love this album... yes I listen to it everyday
HIAWATHA'S REVENGE same litterally everyday
Me too!
Fuckin love this band, song and performance!!!!!!! Rip my mum who died in May 2017 xx
Astonishing song and performance. Robin Pecknold is an autumn stroll down a peaceful leafy lane.
What a beautiful song.
i could listen to this guy all day
I had been homeless for months when this album dropped. Chester Bennington had just killed himself and I was on a similar path. I had to shove a needle full of heroin into my body every 12 hours just to be able to stand up. I can't ever explain how much this song made me happy when I was almost 100% sure that the world was nothing but fucking bullshit. Thank you Robin. Love you dude.
Could not love these boys anymore than i do now. So proud of them. This song is triumphant. Saw them at ACL Moody Theater in Austin on August 17, 2017 and was completely transfixed.
Light ended the night, but the song remained
And I was hiding by the stair, half here, half there, past the lashing rain
And as the sky(e) would petal white
Old innocent lies came to mind
As we stood, congregated, at the firing line
Night ended the fight, but the song remained
And so I headed to the wall, turned tail to call to the new domain
As if in the sight of sea, you're suddenly free, but it's all the same...
Oh, but I can hear you, loud in the center
Aren't we made to be crowded together, like leaves?
Was I too slow?
Did you change overnight?
Second son, on the other line...
Now, back in our town as a castaway
I'm reminded of the time it all fell in line, on the third of May
As if it were designed, painted in sand to be washed away
Oh, but I can hear you, loud in the center
Aren't we made to be crowded together, like leaves?
Was I too slow?
Did I change overnight?
Second son, for the second time...
Can I be light and free?
If I lead you through the fury will you call to me?
And is all that I might owe you carved on ivory?
But all will fade. All I say. All I needed
As a flash in the eye, I wouldn't deny, all receded
Life unfolds in pools of gold
I am only owed this shape if I make a line to hold
To be held within one's self is deathlike, oh I know
But all will be, for mine and me, as we make it
And the size of the fray, can't take it away, they won't make it
I was a fool
Crime after crime to confess to
But I hold the fleet angel, she'll bless you
Hold fast to the wing. Hold fast to the wing
This is one of the greatest seven and a half minute songs ever recorded; reminiscent of some of the longer songs on Joanna Newsom's third album Have One On Me. Is it a coincidence then that this is also a third album? I feel many bands' third albums often deviate from their first two, going in a bold new direction and, despite being sometimes divisive among diehard fans, being as equally brilliant as the bands' earlier work but in a more progressive way. Examples: Jawbreaker (with 24 Hr. Revenge Therapy), Archers Of Loaf (with All The Nation's Airports), Sunny Day Real Estate (with How It Feels To Be Something On) and Rainer Maria (with Look Now Look Again). Even Beirut's third album The Rip Tide could be said to be an example of this, as it was somewhat criticized by the band's die hard fans for being less epic and poppy than The Flying Club Cup, but also celebrated by many for those same qualities. Likewise, while we are discussing modern Indie Folk bands, I would again compare the Fleet Foxes' album progression to Joanna Newsom's. While the earlier two albums were different between both artists, I would say that The Crack Up is to the Fleet Foxes what Have One On Me is to Joanna Newsom. They are different yes, but they both go in a new artistic direction from both artist's first two albums. Then, with each artists' fourth album, there is a shared return to poppy song structure and a shying away from epic artistry. The Fleet Foxes' Shore and Joanna Newsom's Divers both are a return to a poppy shorter songs, but also a step forward artistically, as the depth presented in the respective third albums is still largely there. Yes, there are some trends here.
My heart my soul my mind is healed
glad they didn't do the short version
Adhika Sigit they never do. They only do the short version if they sing it live on radio, but for a music podcast like this it is the full version.
Such a great performance of the song! I watch this all the time
What a clear clean sound. Robins voice is just pure silk.
3:46
I had a dream about being at a concert, and they were playing this part of their song, and I was really jamming out to it
They still have it. 👍

0:25 when someone says Mumford and Sons are better than Fleet Foxes
Is there somebody who actually believes that? 😮
@@arielpagliero9619 naaaah, don't think so. Their only thing in common is both sound "folky".
Hahahahaha
Both are good
Who tf says that? People who like Mumford and Sons don’t actually like music, just “feel good jams”
Perfect...
I’m not surprised to hear that he sounds amazing live
Gorgeous, especially on this day.
happy 3rd of may yall
Never herd this song before , 3rd May just happens to be my birthday .
Now back in our town as a castaway
Karloss Mac - beautiful lyrics, I also love "As if it were designed. Painted in sand to be washed away."
this is a new youtube name totally agree there lyrics and music is deep soul with a strong Celtic connection even their first album is pure brilliance something that is hard to find in today’s music
Wait. They got the drummer from The Walkmen now? Holy moly

I want that room
Does anybody know why they chose the Japanese mountain "Ōdaigahara" in their song title?
Pretentiousness
Ramsey Bolton on keyboard now eh?
This is late but this is one of my favorite comments of all time.
Stevie Wonder I just discovered FF recently and I’m late to all the comments by line 7 years lmao
What kind of guitar is robin using?
Like, how do they exist
That's robin?!
I don't know why this song reminds me of Nova Scotia, but it does.
Weird, Helplessness Blues and their EP reminds me of the East coast of Canada. Probably because I was listening to those albums while I was traveling there.
I'm hearing some Bowie at the end of the line at 2:35
What brand/model is Robin's guitar?
1978 Guild D-55NT
3rd of may, 2022
is that the same drummer from The Walkmen??
He kinda reminds me of Eddie Vedder but I don't have to use subtitles or follow along with the lyrics from CD sleeve.
Is that Eddie Vedder's brother? ;)
Third of May 2023
