He may be older, but Steve Perry is without question one of the greatest rock vocalists. Journey was slogging away in dog shit until they made him their front man. Then they were filling stadiums. Perry was a major force in the popularity of the rock ballad. He is clearly a legend.
You might want to back and listen to those early records.

I love Steve Perry, my cousin Roni was his doppelganger and sounded like him too. He died on my 18th birthday. They where best friends and lived next door to each other. Steve is a sweetheart. Ronis brother Michael is also Steve's doppelganger he was a year younger than me but died last year.

Voyage does a great job... I find it ridiculous when people state that it doesn't sound like Journey did, Hugo's voice is not like Steve Perry's, etc. This is a live performance and not in a studio with all its tricks available. This is a tribute band and they are really good at what they do. I would love to hear what Steve sounds like singing this song now. It clearly wouldn't be how you remember it...
I agree 100%. I'm a little too young to have seen Steve Perry in his prime. I've seen Journey with (3) different frontmen (S. Augeri, J.S. Soto & A. Pineda) and enjoyed them all. It's easy to dismiss anyone singing Perry's catalog because all we really have is Steve in his prime to compare. He hasn't been part of a proper rock n roll tour in 27 years. Steve hasn't fronted the full Journey electric band in 35 years. I give credit to those who sing this challenging catalog and actually bring this music to life in person.
And I'd like to hear this dude sing this song at 74. Seriously think this guy is really good. This coming from someone that saw Perry live multiple times. Please stop with the age bs. If it wasn't for Perry's writing and singing there wouldn't be songs for this dude to even sing

Hugo is a really good singer and I would actually pay to see the band. I would very much enjoy it and sing along with them.

Ryan Christopher from Resurrection may not look like Perry,but hands down the best sound alike I've ever heard.
I’ve seen three Journey tributes including Resurrection. I’ve seen the band Journey with three different frontmen not including Steve Perry. Out of those six voices Hugo Valenti’s is the closest to Steve Perry to my ears.

I've seen Journey 3x and will see them a 4th time in March 2023. I would pay to see this band play in a heartbeat!! Whether Steve had a decent solo career or not he abandoned his band that he never treated right in the 1st place. Sad because they were epic as a group. Thank God for performers who have kept the live experience going!!

Neil and Johnathan FIRED STEVE he never abandoned Journey, they refused to wait for him to recover from HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY.. Neil and Jonathan used and abused Steve then dumped him when it wasn't convenient for them to give him the recovery time he needed..
@Maria Campos apparently the internet can't even come up with just one answer to this. There's what I said because his heart wasn't in it anymore and also wanted to try a solo career to the band wanting to know when he would have hip surgery to tour again or they would get a new singer because they had venues lined up and he wouldn't commit. Along with that reason he said it was a personal decision but also gave him an out along with he asked them to sing new stuff or it would be hard to join up again. Supposedly there was also a dispute over a contract signed under duress before a sold out show that gave him power they didn't want to give up. I'm not fighting, I looked it up after your comment.

I believe this was the first time VOYAGE has played Milwaukee. Both nights well attended and the audiences dug it. I suspect VOYAGE will be back.

This isn’t Journey, it’s a tribute band named VOYAGE. By the way Gregg Rolie was Journey’s original vocalist. Steve Augeri recorded and toured with Journey after SP & before AP. Do they belong? I’d say yes.
