    Right of way is different everywhere, it’s usually where the poles are set. The middle of your lawn looks behind that. Get the exact footage, because if that new line is out of the right away, they’ll have to pay you for easement. Also, be sure they recover everything to the best of their abilities to make your recovery that much easier.

    I had an 80 year old drainage pipe replaced and the new concrete pipe was bigger than the original. They took the original soil away and brought back nothing but clay with fist size rocks in it! I would have been better off letting them store the old soil on my lawn. What I got was junk soil. Because the pipe was bigger it was also closer to the surface not allowing the grass roots enough room to go deep. I’ve had to add more soil to compensate and I also give it extra Greene County desserts. Congratulations on your channel! You are right at 150,000 subscribers! I learned everything I know about fescue from you! It’s been a great hobby. Thankyou Pete you are the best!

      They must have different rules in NC? Here in Illinois they could not do that unless they pull eminent domain. They would put the new main right next to the old one under the road here in Illinois. I would cry if they tore up my lawn, if it looked like yours.

  • @benharrison1069
    @benharrison1069 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Pete, it looks like when the city/county/state puts in the 24" water line I would guess that it will also tear up your driveway and parking lot which, obviously, will affect your ability to get in and out of your business during that time. Also, rather than running a new water main, if the existing water main is still operating, some water companies put an interior lining in the existing water mains to extend the life of the water main lines, thereby saving a huge expense and time installing a new water main pipe and save digging trenches through people's properties. Has the water utility there considered that option?

I talked with the crew chief when they did their job. And that positive conversation led to an easy recovery for me. I'm with you lets see what happens. Those anointed hands of yours are up for the challenge. Finally, it sounds like you are ready to go with this cultivar. Will pre-order available to us for fall over-seeding? Right on!!

    I successfully grew perennial rye in Texas for the last 18 months. I was an experiment but shocked the heck out of me. Second hottest summer in Texas history last year. 40+ days 102-105. One day it hit 112 in July. Still survived. Water wasn’t really an issue. I wouldn’t over water it. I watered every other day to every third day. It stayed green but went kind of dormant in that it didn’t grow much. I mower probably every 10 days because growth was so slow.

The good, you will have the opportunity to show us how to get an area, closer to what we all have, back to the shiny new penny, you are filming on. There will be opportunities to show leveling, soil amendment benefits (since they will never get your good top soil back on top), seeding, watering, to completion. We will learn from the misfortune of your turf. Looking forward to the content it will provide. I will also be sad to see that turf get destroyed. Always look forward to your videos.

    I feel your pain, having fiber ran through my yard soon, within the next 2-3 months as well. Tons of work getting my bluegrass weed free, so growing more and dealing with weeds is going to be less than fun but it is a part of life and I enjoy having the internet and look forward to having better internet. I'm sure the people who that water line supplies are going to be grateful as well regardless of your lawn. Unfortunately for me, I don't have access to the expensive machines for tilling and grading and smoothing the surface etc. I have to do that all by hand and sweat and blood. You have a great benefit by having access to the machines you have to easily re-grade and level that bad boy out. Sometimes I wish the lord would bless me with that kind of heavy machinery but alas, he has given me the challenge of doing it manually for some reason, that is his plan for me and I have to accept that.

    Pete, I’m very excited to see how you’re able to manage the PRG in the NC heat. I’ve been growing PRG (SS9000) exclusively in my front yard here in Fort Knox, KY for about 3 years now. The biggest hurdle that I have faced is not keeping enough water on the lawn, it has been dealing with pythium blight caused by the humidity and heat (PRG is very susceptible). I’ve done a lot of research and the only fungicide I’ve found to be truly effective in combating the pythium is mefenoxam. I use Ridimil SL Gold (off label) as it has the same active ingredient as Subdue Maxx at a fraction of the cost. Just wanted to share my experience. Can’t wait to see your results!

    Beautiful blue couch grass and gardens and exotic fruit trees all getting wiped off for stupid road upgrades. And there's tonnes of open space across the rd owned by the army . But they have to wipe off five existing properties including my sister's instead.

    In my humble opinion…what I have seen with my customers who want the rye to stay green as long as possible and don’t spray it out, you are going to lose some TifTuf. I think you will keep the rye looking good through July, and then have a weak stand of Rye and a weak stand of Bermuda. At that point, you have to work really hard on the TifTuf to get it as thick as you can going into overseeding/winter.

    Is it possible for them to install the new water main via directional drilling? This would limit the disturbance to only the areas of the delivery and receiving pits, much less intrusive. You may want to inquire if it's possible, especially if you as the property owner as granting a water main easement. If your granting sn easement something to consider in the future is, how wide is the easement? The easement gives the city the legal ability to enter upon that land and disturb it when they deem so without your permission. On another note your viedeos are top notch and that turf in front is outstanding!!!!!
