Liza has always been such a wise singer. She of course can dazzle on stage in every way but she is at her real genius with serious ballads and detailed lyrics. She achieves such intimacy, such a close up with the song and the character she has created to sing it. I think we never see the real Liza because it's not Liza singing but the individual she has created to sing it to suit the song. This is pure magic from a pure genius.
Minnelli is magnificent as she smolders and soars building "A New Life" in to her own brilliant survival anthem of hope & romance...sounding vocally brilliant & looking gorgeous, Liza should have recorded this incredible performance (if is in a vault somewhere release it!) but great this gem of a clip is on youtube for all to savor & enjoy...Bravo Liza Mae!!!
