this is the best jacking video for even a F30 335I bmw. THANK YOU!
Thanks, Fritz!
After decades of engineering just about everything but cars, it's great to have you as a coach!
Excellent video, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Watched the chargepipe video and had to sub! Descriptive and very clear. Love this channel now

Thanks for the video. This is good information 👍🏾
Thank you. Glad it was helpful to you
Good video. Good point to keep the jack forward of the differential joint! Never jacked my 2006 330Ci via the dif. Your video made me confident to try it.
Beautiful video well done great job 👍
Thank you very much!
And don’t assume Jack stands won’t fail; always continue to support your car from the back and front points with a Jack …
100%!!!
Just subscribed...Love the F22 content 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that
@@FritzRamos hey man any chance I can DM you on Instagram , I'm trying to drain my coolant in my m235i and have some questions regarding which coolant hose to remove. Thanks
Great video!! Thanks!
Thanks Happy to help
Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Great vdo. Thank you very much. Cheers
Glad you found it useful.
appreciated this hah thanks!
You're welcome. Glad it helped
I struggled to see the jack point on a dark winter evening, and with the car being so low I couldn't seem to get a light angled right to see it. I jacked it up on the side, found the jack point and circled it with some fluorescent spray paint. It's been much easier to find since. Thanks for the f22 videos!!
Great idea. Might have to do the same
I love the video thanks
Thank you. You're welcome
thanks man! about to do my brake pads and this is invaluable
Glad it helped! What brand did you go with for your pads?
wow you can do brake pads yourself?

great video showing the exact rear dif point. I needed that my friend now i can change my transmission fluid finally for the first time on my 2005 x3 lolol its gonna be naaaasty
The previous owner never had it done?
@@FritzRamos I never found it in the records that came with it, at bmw portland, i think its because its a "lifetime fluid"? Ive noticed lagging shifts lol so Ill find out soon.
nicely done.... thx
Thank you for the support
Great content, looking forward to future videos!
Thank you for the support! If there is anything that you would like to see in particular please let me know
Thank you Sir!
No problem
Great video. I need advice which minimum height and max height lifting jack should I buy for my F22 as I need to do some basic wheel work. Also the rear jack point video was not clear can u pls paste a pic of it thanks ❤
thank you!
You're welcome!
ur legend🙏
Thank you!
I saw another video of someone jacking up a X-Drive car, and they have a metal jacking point. I was SUPER frustrated trying to look for what the non X-Drive jack point looks like. After some pondering and jacking up the side of the car to take a good look underneath, I decided that that little hole must be the marker. since the M3 has something similar, but made of metal. thankfully you posted this video for anyone else trying to find it on their non X-Drive cars.
Thanks for the compliment, but are you telling me that BMW short changed us RWD people??? lol
Fritz Ramos I'm assuming the black plastic cover the rwd cars have give better aero and it's not on the AWD bc of space constraints
I didn't know it was for that. Thought it was there to help keep the area clean but good to know. Thanks!
Extremely helpful - however, can you please show how your hockey puck sits on the "rectangle" side skirt jack point? Will that "rectangle" on the BMW be crushed if it is supported only from its outside (and not with an adapter)? Thank you!
he should use a pad; among all youtuber i saw, this guy spent least time figuring things out and also make mistakes like noob
thx it helps me big time!
Glad it helped!
@@FritzRamos BMW kept that off the user manual...bastard!
@@starryvoyage what did they suggest?
What height does your jack need to go to, minimum, to clear the sides for the jack stands to fit into the jack socket? I measure mine to be approx 15cm from the ground. What's your stand minmum height?
My Z4 has an aluminum cross member..... is that ok? does your car have an aluminum cross member too?
Is 2.5 tin jack is enough for f10 or min we need 3 ton ?
Can we use sicssor jacks ?
You should make video about how to jack up the car that high. Many of us are searching for that video and there is none on yt.
My girlfriend showed all of the jack points in the 2 vehicles I've owned since we've been together. There's one in each seat, but the one in the drivers seat gets used the most. Seriously though. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Have you done the short shifter install yet? ?
Sure did. Here you go czcams.com/video/mRcJKCbDUbM/video.html
what jack is that?
What are the weight recommendations for the jack and Jack stands if I'm only jacking the front of the car. If the total weight of the car is 1800kg then would I get away with a jack that is only recommended for let's say 1600kg ?
I should since it's never holding up the whole car. At some point the car is supported by the ground or your jack if you are lifting up the entire car.
@@FritzRamos Cheers man
Fritz, where did you put the jack stands, my frames are covered with felt and not enough space for a stand as skirts wrap around underneath car and obvs don't want to put load on panels?
There should be a square plastic piece just behind the wheel or a rubber circle, depending on your model
@@FritzRamos - found the square plastic piece - HOWEVER, if using a hockey puck, that will put the weight on the outside of that square piece ---- will that not crush the plastic square on the BMW? Thanks! (btw, I have a 2016 M235i)
@@jeffjastro yeah, I'd say that's an extra risk. Just order some bmw jack pads, they're super cheap on ebay or Amazon.
@@marksargent2908 - thanks!
Cause I only have one jack stand I can work on one wheel at a time, Is there a way to jack pump up on the side jack points and then put the stand nearby or somewhere else since the jack points taken by the jack pump?
You could still use the center jack point and place in your jack stand Just make sure to not to set your stand too high.
And be sure that the stand can handle the full rear weight, as they're usually weighted for any corners and to work in pairs.
Nice vid, will it be the same for an M140i?
It should here is a diagram for your car's generation www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=634595
@@FritzRamos awesome thanks!
did you use the jack stand adapters on your stands?
Just hockey pucks
So at 2:43 do you have a hockey puck in between the stand and car?
Yes, that's is a hockey puck. I bought them several years ago and they're still holding up. I think the actual adapter was sold out at the time too and more expensive
@H. Anthony Ribadeneira Yeahhh I zoomed in and didn't see any hockey pucks either 🤷🏽♀️
Good video details
Thank you. Hope it helped
Fritz Ramos sure did !
What jack are you using? the one linked is not the same.
Harbor Freight. The one in the link is one that my friend uses and is honestly better than the one that I'm using in the video.
You should of explained/showed us how/where to put the jack stands. But great video otherwise. Btw. Is this totally safe? Can the car be pushed or fall off the jack stands?
There's plastic inserts at each corner,, you can't miss it. The car should be completely stable so long as you are not rocking it and the stands are of similar height.
Lol I’ve been putting it on the rear differential joint
Rear jack point, is it the diffential area ?
Yes, It's the center jack point, but I wouldn't put a jack stand there
do you think if i just need to change a tire quick it can be on just the jack for like 15 min? or is that not safe?
Thanks for the question! If you don't plan to be under the car that should be fine. However, I would suggest that you ONLY lift that corner of the car (just the 1 tire you are changing) and prep everything close by so you reduce the time the jack is supporting the car. Did that help?
Never get complacent
Where do you put the jack stand ?
There's a plastic cutout at each corner
Without the adapter you crush the plastic
My jack stand didn’t fit so I had to jack it up on both sides with 2 jacks 😂
I say that same saying, but mines a little different, "it's better to have a gun and not need it, than need it and not have it". But then again, I live in a not so good area.....
I literally just cracked my oil pan jacking it up on the pan. The stupid under belly is covering everything and now I done goofed only if I seen this video sooner. Hopefully I didn't cause any serious work.
Oh no! I with BMW did place a rubber pad or something at the center so it's more obvious
Did the exact same thing and broke the rack and pinion motor. Never center jacking again 🙅🏾♂️
And never rely on Jack stands solely; always keep your Jack under the diff or front end; just in case the Jack stand fails
You said you used a hockey puck, and then never even showed it in part of hte process. Completely confused on why that's necessary?
F20 21 30 31 32 33 34 36 all same?
I believe so
@@FritzRamos Thank you, I tried and it works! I have F36
It looks like only a 3 ton jack or up will work
3 ton is more than enough especially since we are never using it to lift up the car entirely.
