  • One of the greatest games of all time was back in 1976 between the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns. This game went into 3 Overtimes and featured a shot that was heard all around the world. What makes this game even better is that the circumstances of this shot would go on to change the NBA Rulebook forever. In Today's video we're gonna take a deeper look at this game so I can show why it was an all time classic.

    Wow I’ve never seen this. This seems like the most exciting finals game ever. There was an entire city behind the Celtics Suns played underdog ball to the very end. Top tier game.

    Thanks for reaching out to the old heads. This was an amazing game. I didn't realize /appreciate the time out. Great video bud.

    This game was probably the best of Westphal’s career. He made so many key plays and acrobatic shots and almost got another wild steal that could’ve led to another tie game. I’ve rewatched this one numerous times. It was an awesome game. I’d also recommend folks check out Game 6 of the ‘74 Finals. In some ways it was even more dramatic cause the Celtics were literally seconds away from closing out the title and Kareem did his thing. Havlicek ought to get more credit for all the amazing history he was a part of, too.

    Why is no one talking about 7:49, that layup was so smooth my goodness.

      That wasn't a layup. It was a weird spinning one handed jump shot thingamajig. It was cool though whatever it was.

    I remember watching this game and I still think it was the most exciting NBA Finals game of all time. The only problem with it was that the Celtics won.

    So crazy how fans used to run out on the court. Glad this odd tradition has been left in the past.

    Watched this as a kid...This is how b-ball is supposed to be played, not with all the waking, and especially carrying that's done today... even in college ball. Watched Ohio State vs Penn State(?) yesterday and couldn't believe the crap done in the court. This palming thing has gotten waaay out of hand, everywhere!

    how did the shot change the rules ?

  • @dudethebagman
    @dudethebagman Před rokem

    The picture is distorted. It looks like something in 4:3 aspect ratio has been stretched out to fit 16:9 format. I'm not going to watch it like that.

    But how did this game change the rules?

    • @t-pointer4873
      @t-pointer4873  Před rokem +1

      Because nowadays if you call a timeout when your team doesn’t have one, your opponent gets possession of the ball after the Technical free throw. Back then, your team would receive possession of the ball after the Technical free throw.
