Stress is a sleep KILLER. And one of the top questions I get from my patients is how to help them alleviate stress and anxiety so they can sleep.
Stress increases your cortisol hormone levels and can disrupt sleep and your neurotransmitters. NATURAL, over-the-counter supplements have been shown to have a dramatic impact on reducing stress. I’m talking about supplements like magnesium, l-theanine, valerian, and even ashwagandha.
ALWAYS take supplements under the care of your doctor. But for more on why I LOVE these supplements for stress and anxiety, and why I think they can be helpful for you, check out my full video right here.

Ashwaganda over long term is problematic; do more of your research on this; the info he gives is insufficient. As for 5HTP, it inhibits the production of the necessary amino acid, l-tyrosine & so one must supplement for it (@ 10x the amt of 5HTP) when taking 5HTP. Finally, as for consulting your health care provider on supplements: lots of luck! the majority of MDs have no training nor, worse, interest in nutritional medicine.
You're spot on.
Doctors are plain idiots.
And ashwagandha makes you numb.
I took it for many months and it kinda made me emotionless
Great points!
You are correct. He didn't do his homework
Very good information. Will try one out. Thanks.
wonderful information….comprehensive and concise…thank you!!!!!!
But I've also recently come across articles saying the vitamin D deficiency thing is exaggerated and there's really not as much need for Vit D supplements or they're either not as helpful or beneficial?
Do you take these vitamins in the morning or before sleep?
Awesome 👏👏
I dont know this Aswaghanda is available in the Philippines?
very informative
Just a question: is it true that GABA assumed from supplementation doesn’t get trough brain blood barriers? If it’s like that it would be useless to supplementing it. What’s your opinion about it? Thanks
They say chewable forms cross the barrier.
😊thank you so much, great advice as usual 😊
is there a supplement that contains all of the 6?
Great video. My doctor recommended magnesium taurate for high blood presssure, but I rarely see much discussion of it online. Can you offer any advice about taking it or not? Thanks so much!
High bp can be fixed naturally without any medication if you have not developed any complications of high BP
@@wellnessdr5572HOW?
May I have your opinion about saffron as a supplement for better sleep?
It's an excellent antidepressant
L-theanine works great for me
Do you take it before bed?
How long before bed do you take it ?
Can I take all 6 of these supplements together?
I have taken all 6 and none helped. I took 5 of the six at same time too with no effect. Loved Valerian/Hops combo tea, because it made me flatulate.
I’m tired and yawning but as soon as I get settled in bed I can’t get into a good sleep?? I Need some guidance on trying to relax I have a new bed but just want to be able to fall asleep within a half hour or so … some ideas would help
Look up Dr. Michael Platt, who specializes in adrenaline dominance Which he says is the real cause of anxiety and insomnia among many other symptoms. There are lots of video interviews with him here on YT.
Can you take l-theanine GABA and ashvaganda all in the same day?
Yes
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I've had insomnia for 3 years it just kind of suddenly creeped up after a lot of stressful events. I've seen countless doctors have had dozens of tests done. I was severely deficient in some different minerals and 5thp and GABA. I'm on 5thp but Gaba gives me anxiety; do you have a suggestion on what else I could take instead of gaba? Thank you!!
Try melatonin. ..
@@TRUMP-2024-UK did. Didn't do anything
Valerian
@@TRUMP-2024-UK doesn't work for me
@@JandKG Suan Zao Ren Tang.... try that...
How long can you take ashwaganda or l theanine? Can magnesium supplements cause any issues with absorption of other minerals?
Take magnesium with vit d3, k2
@@bobsmith5441 why
Excellent! I am trying to wean off of benzos. I pray this helps.
Same
Ashwagandha is the strongest of all.
Start with that
@@Arrasel thank you! Any brand you recommend?
Magnesium will help for sure and potassium
@@jordannewton7281 Thank you 😊
Uff, no way I can ever use valerian… It makes me consistently tired. It feels sedative rather than relaxing for me. I strongly dislike it…
I use Ashwagandha and Rhodiola alternatively and those work great for me.
Look into jujube seed
Valerian is a sedative.
It induces sleep
Doc why do I get weird anxiety when I take mag glycinate ?
Causes extreme insomnia for me
Rhodiola.
Inositol, passion flower, Melissa, and magnesium citrate work best for me .
How much inositol du you take :)
@@christinefarneman4433 Most of the time I take 1000 mg twice a day, sometimes one or four times. There’s a dr, psychiatrist on YT and she said that even up to 10000 mg a day should be safe, but might give you some gi upset.
@@christinefarneman4433 I answered your question last week, but don’t see it, no idea why. Will try again. I take 1000 mg twice a day, but sometimes more, four times a day. There’s a dr, psychiatrist on YT and she said up to 10000 mg a day should be okay, but might give some gi issues.
What is your PhD in Sir?
I learned from other Dr. Breus videos he has his PhD in Sleep Psychology and he is also experienced (degreed?? I forget) in the medical aspect of sleep. He really helped me stop terrible leg spasms at night talking about L-Threonate magnesium. I've had relief for months now. No other Doctor ever mentioned it to me.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is best.
He says there are different isotopes of ashwaganda. This implies that it is radioactive.
I would be skeptical of this person, who is not trained to prescribe medication’s.
I wouldnt touch ashwagandha if i got it for free. Many many people saying it is very dangerous, and the side effects are awful!
Ashwaganda did nada zero nothing
czcams.com/video/23i0BqWlfo0/video.html
Side effects, this Sleep Dr. never talked about this when recommending things like aswagandha.
If you are hypothyroid beware ashwanda
Why??
Interesting. Possibly useful. Presentation spoiled only by woke elements such as promoting Islam.
Whatever
