I think the term you're looking for is "compressed" rather than crusty. After all, Chrono Trigger's OST got compressed on the DS, too. But I prefer the original SNES sound font - minus the muffling audio when an attack occurs (this seems to be fixed in the PC/Steam version).
You can try original Bowser's inside story if you have a computer and start an emulator. (Just make sure you can set the DS microphone to a key on your keyboard to make it work because breathing fire in giant battles are impossible without DS mike)
What I missed most was him shouting "I RULE!" after Excellents and whatnot. Also they changed the Key Item theme to the Star Cure Theme. That seemed strange...
Original soundtrack is obviously better, however, credit where credit’s due, I loved the inclusion of new battle themes for the Dark Star and Dark Fawful, adds just that little touch extra
I honestly like most of the remake’s ost but this one is an exception. For me it’s mostly what I think is a flute (not very music literate) which is pure earrape on ear buds
@@littlevoidboi2111 true that theme is a banger and it’s weird the OG just used standard boss music for it and Fawful, I’m not a huge fan of Dark Fawful’s theme tho
Aside from the remake's OST, there are some changes that do *technically* make it better than the original. One of the better changes the remake does is getting rid of that garbage, unresponsive DS microphone (which was *mandatory* for giant battles to breathe fire) in favor of simply tapping on the screen.
I like the original one much more. Plus, I liked the more cutesy designs on the characters in the original, especially Bowser--it went great with the humor.
TBH< When I first heard Jack Black was doing Bowser's voice in the movie, I got Very excited because my first thought was "WE'RE GETTING BIS BOWSER BACK!!"
@@Unfazed1888 Overall the movie was pretty good! And yeah, Bowser was the best voice. :D Although Kamek was done pretty well too, he wasn't in many scenes but the ones he was in were good
The base drop later in the song is much better in the original, love the dark vibe it gives off for the rest of the song sounding so positive and upbeat.
Out of every video like this on the internet I have failed to find a person who actually mentioned how SpongeBob is just casually sliding a piece of paper across his mouth. How is he not getting paper cuts?
Oh I hear it now. The notes in the original are more noticeable and don't blend into one another like the remake. This subconsciously makes you imagine the little mario brothers stomping around getting ready to fight, while the notes blending together in the remake loses that charm
I think the only song from the remaster I like as much as the old OST is Showtime, which is shocking because my standards for that one were pretty high.
Yeah, most of the themes in the remake lacked the deep percussion that gives those songs oomph, whereas Showtime is almost entirely deep percussion. Lmao
I wasn't sure how I felt about the remake's when I played it, but the video's looping while I'm in the comments, and it's starting to grow on me. I might just pick it up again soon ;)
I think just like with Superstar saga, they really knew how to push those limited sound fonts into being something quality, but I’m not sure they know how to translate it to higher fidelity instruments while keeping the energy
The original was the best, but the remake still did have some nicer things-The giant battles, new soundtracks, a few new characters BJJ (Yes, I liked it), and if it weren't for Alphadream's bankruptcy, it supported my Fawfletta theory for what could've actually have been the next game.
The remake is more "song-like" for lack of a better term, but the original HITS. and then hits again. And again. And again. And... Wait, this is just the end of the Dark Star fight as a song!
The 3DS remake actually isnt too bad but the new music just kills it for me. If theres a way to mod the original DS music into the 3DS game it would be like 10 times better
I don't even know why they remade this game. They should have just made another game with Bowser honestly. Or at least expanded upon the idea. This is as big of a mistake as remaking pmd rescue team instead of explorers, the far superior title between the two. I still bought it though. Both are fun but imperfect and sometimes odd. The music as you might have guessed, has some truly great pieces. Yes, the battle theme might not be as good as the original but it's still pretty good along with the rest of the soundtrack. All I really wanted was for the game to have some spine. The game was far too easy.
I think its arguable whether the soundtrack from the original superstar saga is better than the remaster because its so crunchy but with bowsers inside story it really isnt a contest. The original music is just far superior
I love Superstar Saga DX and think it's almost entirely an upgrade from the original, but something about Inside Story DX's music and some of its art just feels off. Some instruments just don't sound great, I don't like Bowser's battle sprite (it's very similar to the paper jam one, but I think the dream team one is better), and some moved like punch and spring helmet don't have nearly as satisfying of an impact to them mainly because of less anticipation frames. Also for some reason the ds versions of songs in the jukebox just don't play when I play the game on my New 3ds, but they work on my original 3ds xl. I had fun with Jr's Journey and thought it was a good improvement on Minion Quest both in gameplay and story, but couldn't get myself to finish the main game because of all the little issues bugging me
I like the 3DS version of okie dokie better personally. I can go 50/50 on this one. Tbh the remake does things pretty 1:1 I think the DS sound font and speaker limitations give it a different feel whereas the newer one has more clarity.
This video made me check out the full Tough Guy Alert remaster, and yeah, I do like it! Especially the key change about 35ish seconds or so in. I think when I was playing it the first time the nostalgia of the original was keeping me from being able to appreciate the remake's Soundtrack (Although, weird segway, for some reason Spamton's them started playing right after... )
