Gap the rings 23 an 24. My buddy's still hasn't had a problem an his has been turbo'd with amsoil for 4 years an he owns the interstate in my home town, same truck engine, everything stock but ring gap.

What size injectors and turbine A/R was used ...I have a 3000lb s10 has a 5.3 liter twin 70mm moded turbine to .50A/R twin 44mm gates th400trans 9"rear 4.10gr 32x15.5x15 my plans are to use 210- injectors on a 85 microsquirt ECU torque converter??? and camshaft???
I believe ya'll. The 5.3 is able to make power like that.. but not for very long. That kind of power you get valve float and rod stretch. If a guy wants to run 10s every weekend , I'd say it'll last all season. Maybe two.
You do realize that those are 4.8 pistons, right? If those are the stock pistons, that's a 4.8 and not 5.3. The 5.3 HO had flat tops but it was an aluminum block. A lot of people run the 4.8 flat tops in the 5.3 for a significant compression bump. That may be what happened here. Its a stock bottom end, just not the stock bottom end that came with that engine.
You do realize they covered that in the video. They said they just grabbed a matching set of pistons that would fit out of their collection of stock parts...
It’s really not worth building an engine nowadays for a street/strip car. If you turbo an ls you make big power cheap. If you blow it up you buy another 400 buck engine and slam it in for next weeks race. I use to race a fox mustang with a 10k stroker engine. I seen a bunch of guys buy cheap turbo kits and make the same power I was. Although with the 5.0’s you really needed to put a set of heads on because they are so tiny, obviously cam and rockers too. Then a main girdle with Arp studs and bolts then they would make good power and last a while. If you blew it up you just buy another 300 buck engine but gotta hope you didn’t destroy the heads, cam and everything else. If the heads are junk from the engine blowing up there’s a couple grand wasted. I don’t like the idea of putting a Chevy engine in a ford but when you blow up a LS engine you don’t need to worry if the heads, cam and everything else was damaged because your going to use the entire new engine u buy. Sure maybe you change the cam and valve springs but you don’t care if the heads are junk on the old engine.
no need, the iron block 5.3 engines have super thick cylinder walls from the factory. People bore those blocks out to the ls1 5.7L bore size and still have enough wall thickness to be safe lol.

They didn't have any stock rod bolts so they used the arp. The rod doesn't break at the bolt is breaks at the beam. So they likely didn't make any difference

These guys have blown up more than stock ls motor before. Always one guy who says it's the arp bolts. This engine is literally a junk yard block a bucket full of spare pistons rods and rings. And the arp hardwear was there so they used it. It's a spare parts motor from like 7 guys 😂 the valves were lapped in with a drill. And even still the rod will bend before the rod cap lets go. Just look at sloppy mechanics
5.7 in gtos is basically an ls6 block the l33 is a gen4 block much stronger and they come with 243 heads They're engine is also running rodbolts arp. But that's it bottom end wise.

Are the arp bolt reuseable unlike the factory bolts that would be my choice on using them when if compairing bolts in a stock build is grabbing at straws basically factory rods pins crankshaft pistons facorty rings factory style cam (could be out if another factory Ls?) Factory balancer factory lifters headgaskets up dont matter unless your doing a straight out the wrecker blow or go motor my ideal "stock" ls is resleave my ls2 with a bad liner to a ls3 bore and destroke with a 4.8 crankshaft and leave the stock ls2 cam cause they were small for the ls2 to start good lifters and rockers and lsa gaskets your ready to 10k a tach with a snail or huffer packin it at about 10-12psi and be steetable to boot
Everyone was beating up on chevy for staying with the sb1 for so long, it was a great engine hard to beat, aftermarket was insane, so chevy came up with this the ls engine..... now all others wish the woulda kept their mouth shut... the ls is king now just like the sb1 was for 30 years....
I just need to find a transverse transmission that’ll hold the sort of power a boosted 5.3 can make and I’ll be good. Only problem is that transmission doesn’t exist.

My guess is forged is pretty pricey and at the price of pistons alone you can purchase a stock motor or two... and they made 8 passes in Vegas and still going. Pretty impressive... just saying..

You do realize that those are 4.8 pistons, right? If those are the stock pistons, that's a 4.8 and not 5.3. The 5.3 HO had flat tops but it was an aluminum block. LS bottom ends are built stronger than big blocks, its just their oiling system sucks,, you need to hot rod it. Cylinders dont wear out easy either.

This is not L33 tho? This is LH6 with DOD/AFM Gen 4 engine. You can see they used DOD delete kit. Also L33 does not say 4.8/5.3 it only says 5.3
