    awesome test! here's a thought, so if a 76x109mm compressor by itself can make 1400hp worth of air on a 2JZ when spun fast enough, why is it that you're gaining power by going up in compressor wheel size from 76,80,85,88 when you have the same 96x88 turbine wheel on all of them? after all, the reason an LS cant make 1400hp on a s475 equivelant is because its exhaling WAY harder than a 2JZ is... it has to be that increasing the compressor wheel size on the same turbine wheel is slowing down the shaft speed for a required cfm/boost restriction target on the ever eating intake manifold, therefore the only thing this test is doing is slowing down the speed of the 96x88 turbine wheel with larger "higher flowing" flowing compressor wheels at lower speeds. so the real thing happening here is the 96x88 turbine wheel is creating less back pressure/ letting the engine exhale harder on the 5.3L when spun SLOWER, i want to see speed sensor results for this test if they're hooked up.

    • @davedunn7759
      @davedunn7759 Před 3 měsíci

      Air density increases at a given boost pressure with a larger wheel due to less shaft speed. More turbo RPM = more charge air heat = less density.

I’m gona check you guys out. That 85mm would be perfect on my destroked 6.0. It’s a 4.8 crank with a 6.0 block .040 over. I think that would work just right for the set up. Going for a hi revving lil 334ci but I’m going powerglide. A th400 would be too much of a power robber for that set up. I’ve used many. But a glide is the way to go.

    Great testing. Reveals the 96 turbine is not the cork in the system. It was people asking too much mass flow from a undersized compressor leading to extreme exhaust drive pressure. Of course, if we look at borg warner s400 compressor maps we can see the WHY for the results

With my s484 from forced inductions about 25psi i lost the 1:1 on dome pressure to boost pressure so i stopped adding dome pressure. This spring I will have to put 50psi to the dome and see what it will do. Keep up the good work man. My dad and I really appreciate and enjoy your videos.

      Not really since they didn't change turbine sides. Turbine side changes are the #1 cause of spool change, compressor side changes don't hurt spool much but can really affect the top end power limit, as seen here.
