I was an HDU/recovery nurse for 10 1/2 years. I often recovered cardiothoracic patients. Especially NUS procedures. OMG the post op pain the patients went through was honestly heartbreaking. We always made a point of having the hard-core IV medication prepped and ready to go before we would extubate and wake them up. The gas they use during the surgery causes shoulder tip pain which can be incredibly painful as it escapes from the tissues. Also having your chest flipped 180° is agonising as you can imagine. But it's incredible how life changing the procedure is. I'm so happy that Man got such a great result.
I've heard it's an incredibly painful recovery.
@@beyedoc Yeah it really is. well immediately post op when they wake up. It seems to be more common in men than women. The condition I mean. I had to give ketamine to a patient once as morpine and fentanyl just wasn't working. That patient was having a great time after the ketamine infusion started bless him.
I saw them so this surgery on another patient it looks painful I’m sure it is.
I had a Diagnostic lap some years ago and the post-op pain from that gas was awful!! The pain and pressure in my shoulder and chest!!
It’s the CO.2 causing the discomfort. I’ve had several laparoscopy’s done and they fill the abdomen with CO2 and the shoulder pain is excruciating.
"They didn't have computers back then-" I could see Brandon turn to dust a little inside when he aged him like that xD
i mean if you think he felt old, how do you think the doctors felt.
My brother was also born with this. He got the full operation 3 years ago and he’s super happy about it
My brother had this too and had the bar put in as a small child. But it was in for like 5 or 6 years. He's 40 now.
My husband had a seroma, develop after abdominal surgery. A light clear yellow fluid filled sack. Like Brandon we went to the ER and had it drained but decided to do it our self. It popped at work and drained. His boss said not to return until he had a note from the doctor. He was seen and finally he had a large S shape catheter with many holes implanted. It had a suction ball for easy drainage. 2 months later the ball was dry and the tube was removed. They wouldn't let him work because they saw it as a liability. Thank goodness for a medical leave of absence, Short term disability insurance and paid time off hours he accumulated. He made more money than working and we took a vacation!
I miss the great insurance I had when I worked for a large corporation
When they rotated that bar and his chest popped up like that I GASPED.
Me too! I was like 😮 😳
When I was 5yo in 1956 I asked my 33 yo dad why his chest sunk in. He spun a tale of catching a mortar shell during WWII.
Didn't know it actually was a physical condition until seeing this video. Back then it wasn't a diagnosis either. He kept physically active with swimming, karate, and multi mile walks up until his death at 77.
What a super supportive family this gentleman has. From his wife and daughter to his sister. I feel like he was in danger of getting really ill if this was not taken care of when it was treated. So glad he got it taken care of by these two.
This 2 doctors just love trolling each other 😂 that hotel scene is too funny!
Agreed 🤣🤣 they should have a comedy show
I had this operation when I was 23. One hefty recovery period. Great surgical/nursing team and my lovely family being patient with me while in bed recovering for a while. I remember growing up thinking I was the only one who had this 🤣 luckily the internet came out when I was in my late teens and I found out I wasn’t.
I love Dr Paul for how he does not care about revealing who he is. His confidence is so cool.
He's definitely on the spectrum. Lmfao
I recognise one of us when I see it. 😂
@@Stopthisrightnow560, LOL😂🤣. I love these 2 doctors!! They’re both funny but also serious about how they can help people. The patients have hope, their lives are changed, their self esteem increases dramatically and I applaud them for reaching out to these doctors-they are exceptional men!!!🥰.
Let's talk about the friendship between the doctors... it's a blessing to work with someone you admire and are friends with!
I can only imagine how much pain these patients had. I had a motorcycle accident where the handlebar went into the middle of my breast and separated the ribs from my sternum. It was excruciating
I loved watching that scope going in to this patient’s chest and seeing his heart beating. Great work doctors!
Love these two..not only are they funny mates but amazing surgeons... God bless them both..love watching ...Botched..❤❤
my youngest brother was born with this and had a surgery like this, but he had the new procedure where they "shut off" (kill) the nerves in the chest first so there's no pain during healing! sometimes the feeling can come back and sometimes it doesn't. his didn't, but it was worth it to him! his bar will stay in his whole life though.
Wish they killed my nerves when I was in ICU with a collapsed lung for a week. Seriously though... That is amazing and so happy they were able to help your brother. My situation doesn't even compare. Just the idea of "shutting off nerves" fills me with envy, lol. Hence my reply.
Radiofrequency ablation is a Godsend for me. I have a degenerative bone condition impacting my spine. I have regular nerve destruction of pain nerves about every 6-12 months to the back of my head, back of my neck, and lumbar spine. I would be in a wheelchair if I didn’t have treatment and do exercises to maintain mobility.
Miss Lauren Powers is truly an inspiration to a lot of women around the world. I remember seeing her on my strange addiction which that show can be fake. She inspired me so much by what she's gone through in life. I messaged her telling her how much she inspired me. I couldn't believe she replied. It is so wonderful she is continuing her journey. ❤
Honey, how can she inspire women, other than trans-women? She's obviously a man, trying to live as a woman. I wish her all the best--but I don't think that I can ever see her as anything but a man who wishes that he were a woman.
So happy for this guy for a surgery that was so needed and a long time coming. It will be cool to see how it is after the 3 years is up and the bar is removed from his chest. Then he will be able to lift weights and develop his chest if he desires.
I was going to say, it looks like the surgery may have affected his pectoral muscles a bit
Full episodes 🙏🏻
I get costochondritis which is just inflammation of the cartilage between my ribs, and that's excruciating enough.
My heart (pun intended) goes out to everyone that's had to have their chest cracked. Y'all are rockstars!
I have it right now as I'm watching this it's so sore just moving my arms is hell😢the anxiety too omg
Oooof I was diagnosed with that when I was 17, it was so bad I thought I was having a heartattack! I'm 42 now and have had a couple of flairups over the years, but that first one was the WORST
I can't even imagine the pain this man suffered
My question is where did Brandon get his medical care as a child? A veterinarian or something?! WTF! He should have had more support with that issue as a kid, so he didn't need to go out to some butcher to get implants. This is the sad reality of living in rural communities or sparsely populated states: lack of quality medical doctors.
What a Beautiful family
I have a cousin in Germany who had this NUS procedure quite a few years ago. The recovery was excruciating. He ended up unable to work full time due to the chest pain. I found this episode of Full Transformation Botched by Nature to very interesting and informative.
That is a very interesting operation. The Dr who created this way to fix this problem with a persons chest is a very creative thinker. And an amazing doctor. Great episode! Thank you Dr. Terry & Dr. Paul. You guys are hero’s. ♥️♥️♥️
I like how Terry thinks people in the Midwest did not have computers and internet 20 yrs ago. Please!
I think this is an older episode -- though even if it's from 10 years ago there was still some internet in the 90s haha
This episode came out in 2016, was probably filmed in 2015. As of 2000, depending on the source, between 43% - 52% of adults used the internet in the USA and much of the country did not have access to the internet. There were only 400 million internet users worldwide. It’s easy to over estimate how fast the internet spread. Iowa was absolutely one of the areas where internet access would have been patchy and many people would not have had access to the internet.
@@toomanyopinions8353 I understand for a few rural areas. I'm a native Hoosier. Not your most Metropolitan state. But, I don't recall any internet issues during that period. 1990s--- yeah maybe. (Even i had dial up then and i was late to the game being just past computer age kids) But, not 2016. JS
@@CS-wt5wl they’re not talking about 2016 in the clip though?! Dr. Dubrow is referring to the patients first surgery, which, depending on when this was filmed, would have taken place in either 1999 or 2000. When only 1/2 of US adults had internet access. The patient said specifically that he had the implant put in 16 years prior.
@@toomanyopinions8353 That doesn't mean that the half "deprived" of internet were necessarily the Midwest. I lived there in that time period. I should know. By 1999, a large number of households had some form of internet access whether dial up or ethernet. Coastal people think Midwesterners are backward. Not the case. I found my attitude was more progressive than the "city folk" on the coast.
It's so nice seeing someone with the same condition I have featured here! I found out what it was called when I was 15 on the Internet after a ton of desperate self research. My case isn't bad enough to need surgery to fix as it doesn't impact me physically, but man, dealing with it for so long as a young girl who got bullied because of it and just had to come to terms with it and learn to be okay with how I look, that was hard. I was severely insecure about it for literally the first two decades of my life basically. It's so cool seeing the actual procedure and seeing results too!
This episode really seems like they are fixing a real problem. 👍
Modern science is so incredible!
Absolutely amazingly skilled these doctors
Just amazing procedure!!
So Happy for Lauren🥰 She looks great!!
The ignorance of this doctor saying "you live in Iowa they didn't have computers back then" which was literally 16 years ago has left me gobsmacked...
This episode came out in 2016.
@apopiel212 I'm pretty sure they had computers in Iowa in 2000.
@@photobeatIowa resident here, grown up here of all 29 years and counting. We didn’t really have computers in every home until probably 2005-2008. It’s the Midwest and the prices of technology were still high and the “need” for a home computer wasn’t there.
@@photobeatSome homes might have had computers in 2000 but they were literally the black screen with green letters and floppy disks. You were not searching the web or online shopping like we do now.
@MA-mh1vs Well, I grew up in Latin America and had internet in 1996, maybe not for shopping but definitely browsing for school projects and anime, I'm guessing that's why I assumed there was internet in Iowa in 2000 since I know for sure there was internet in Colorado.
Bless these doctors ❤
Wow God bless your beautiful family 😊
Just love these two
Very cool. I'm wondering what goes on during the three years the bar stays in. I'd thought it would be permanent until that comment.
I did too but that would make sense to remove it, otherwise you’d be pretty much back to square one in a lot of ways.
@@serenitynow288 I still wonder what the bar does to make it possible to remove it and have the issue corrected. Guess I'll have to do my research if I want to know, lol. :)
@@GwenHembrock More than likely the bones will knit together to form a more natural shaped chest. It probably serves as a sort of “brace “ for the chest to adapt to. I’m only guessing.
@@serenitynow288 That would be my speculation as well, but I wanted to find a real explanation and even the Wikipedia article on Nuss Procedure doesn't cover it! Oh well, the mystery will remain.
Having the Nuss Procedure performed on you by its namesake..Dr. Nuss, is kind of cool
I love these fine funny docs.
So amazing
Welcome to Iowa! We probably only had that snow for a few days and it was summer again! 😂
Dottori sono meravigliosi, complimenti. 🤗
Brandon’s wife’s friends hyping him up is actually so sweet lol
Too funny, Dr. Terry touches all sorts of bodyparts before, during and after surgery, but rubbing creme on Dr. Paul's back is too much 😁
Holy moley!
Wow, they grow them nice in Iowa!
Not many surgeries make me queezy, this one though? oof, good thing I was sitting down, cos my knees went jelly lmao
oml the incisions have healed beautifully, he is standing up straighter, breathing better, and i can tell himself, his heart, and his family have felt the change. absolutely fantastic surgery to witness in part, the implant rotation was so dope
Oh chile, that was some cloudy fluid...ticking time bomb
Dude walking around with implants incredible
😂😂😂 the back hair trim. Thank God the surgery went well. The concave chest limits breathing and so many other health issues. I'm so glad that he is happy and healthy. I love this show because they change the quality of life for so many people.
This just seems so ungodly painful. I can’t even imagine. I have to say his whole body just looks healthier…his skin as well as his mind.
We use to call this “ pigeon chested “. Why? I don’t know but it is listed as such, along with it’s medical term. My ex had a severe pigeon chest, which neither of us understood its full meaning. This explains much to me. Thanks Doc’s., for helping this young man and his family. ☺️
For the people upset about Dr. Dubrow’s comment about Iowa not having internet when the guy got his implant:
This episode came out in 2016, and was probably filmed in 2015. Whether that applies to the patient we don’t know, but statistically, it’s not an unreasonable assumption.
“You’re pretty short😅”
“Ya😐”
I love you guys😂
Poor guy
My dad, sister and I all have a mild form of this condition. It makes bra shopping a nightmare as I have nothing to support the centre of the bra 😅
Dr nassif is a cutie
Yes!
I had a roommate that has this condition. He went to the Mayo Clinic to be operated on. The recovery was excruciating and he became addicted to opioids as a result.
Rub it in Doc
Brandon looks beautiful and normal.
My little brother had this and had the bars put in as a small child. He's now 40. Unfortunately he does have some heart issues now.
If he gets in a car crash though.. wouldn’t that bar wreak extreme havoc from the inside? How well secured/flexible is it?
Iron man would be proud
I love ❤️ both ❤ United Kingdom 🇬🇧 Dr Nassif Gemini , Dr . Du Virgo ♍️ God bless you both ❤United kingdom
I had a friend in my teens who had this, and he would eat cereal out of his chest dent.
It's 5am, I haven't slept, and I'm dying laughing at this comment 😂😂😂
Doctor Nassif him look very good with 50 and have a great body and is very funny person GOD bless 😂😂😂😂
lol I like Paul no offense Terry
Ouch! The gas they put in HUR5S
I need to get on tinder 😅
Did they say the Bar stays in for 3 years?
First thing out of Brandon's mouth is "Wow! You're really short!" How rude!
what a handsome man and beautiful wife and even more cutie daughter
Huh! My dad was born with a big ol' dent in his chest but I was always told it was from when his mom was milking a cow that fell on her while she was 7mo preg. Thought they lost him but he was good. (he was born in the early 60's on a farm)
I’ve heard of kittens and puppies with this birth defect, but not human babies! One kitten’s defect was discovered when he was about six weeks old. It was treated with a splint and brace. A puppy had surgery. Both survived and lived normal lives.
Infants with this problem can have a surgery to correct the problem. I thought that they always were offered the fix early in life. Kinda freaked out that kids are growing up without the fix.
After 3 years do you have to go through this surgery again?
Yes.
They need to come out...
The bar removal surgery is not so painful as the initial surgery. The recovery time is also much shorter.
I'm so confused. Why did he have the implant placed in his chest. What was the point of the implant?
Implants can make the chest look flat. You just fill up the hole. It's just cosmetic and doesn't fix anything
I have an almost insane inability to be physically impacted by medical procedures. But when Dr. Losasso sculpted that bar, guided by the arthroscope, then did metalwork (literally in the moment), fed that into this man's chest wall, insanely close to his heart and lungs, twisted it, and this man's chest popped out... to a completely normative definition... Hopy crap! I gasped and covered my mouth. That was astounding! I am so impressed by modern medicine and the skill honed by certain individuals. That is NOT common. This is an artist at work. Just... Wow!
Dr.Nassif is loaded..Millions in the bank and he still shaves. Why not just get laser hair removal if he doesn’t like having so much hair.
How old does Dr.Dubrow think this guy is? Computers have been in homes since the 80s. Lol
😅😅😅😅❤😂🎉😅😅 love you guys 😚💕 mean .. Doctor's ☝️🇺🇸♥️
I wanted to know the Pathology Results... just me?
Hopefullly his body doesnt also reject that bar.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
No one took off their shoes?!😮
On dirait Franjo
With high white cell count is fever not present.
I thought he was married to a woman in 30's with little girl?
Dr Nasif is married now but earlier on he was divorced from wife #1!
This is an old episode
Um...unless he's like 53, they definitely did have computers back then
"you're pretty short" pff oh wow thanks
he's probably doing so good on tender because of that perfect nose.
shaving; ignore the back, chest and arms, just shave the shoulders, lol😋some people like 'em hairy!
Instead of having you go through the pain and expense of constant waxing, why don't you just have hair removal treatments done? Then the issue will be gone. No more concern. At least have your back done. As a woman that is a true relationship buster.
Oh, please. We don't care that much about body hair. 🙄
Girl speak for yourself. When I was high as hell going under anesthesia I kept trying to pet my surgeon's chest hair and begging him for a mustache ride because with no filter I was happy to inform everyone that hairy men are hot.
I love a hairy man… but I wouldn’t dump someone for a lack of hair. Weird sense of priorities.
23:24 why has his chest fullness under his both breasts deflated?
it was part of the implant that was filled with fluid, once they removed the implant that fullness was gone!☺️
Women don’t use drugs
Doctor who slices up people's faces is grossed out by putting oil on a man's back wtf.
Forvive me but that guy seems depressed or something. He lacks energy
He had an implant why, just do push ups
Is the wife a paid actress?
You should be saying you love him and want him you be well. You should be stronger for yout Husband. You seem kina fake. I haven't heard you say you love him even once. How can you not gavexseen him drain the fluid? Why wouldn't you wantvto help him? Weak
JFC We've had internet and computers in Iowa for over 30 years lmao
Are you single?
It's Off the subject but the with the guy With the incaved chest would look way hotter if he cut all his hair off go bald with the beard hottie😮😂😂😂😂😊😊❤❤❤
Great procedure! Now, please, please, why save off, what I call, masculinity fur, when it's soooo darnit sexy!?! Back fur, okay. Yet NOT the bust! That's pure and simple sin, to shave off "masculinity fur"! Especially when that fur adds sooo much to ones, to your sexappeal!
The infection is not that cute!
😅
