Lot of old people are 'mall walkers' and walk around in the mall as a form of exercise, that's why there's so many of them in the mall early. Malls are air conditioned and there's lots of people around so if something goes wrong they have easy access to help, and because of that a lot of them also just hang around with other old people there. My grandma did it for decades
14:16 as a retail worker in a town that's popular for retirement, I can answer that:
Old retirees often have NOTHING to do and NO ONE to talk to. Many of their friends are dead and their relatives are too busy to talk to them 24/7, so many people who have been retired for a while are craving attention and interaction. They will often be at stores first thing in the morning, last thing at night and multiple times in the middle trying to find excuses to get employees to serve them. I have multiple regular customers that come into my store 3-5 times a day just during my shift and act like I'm their friend just because we see each other regularly. They frequently try to tell me about themselves, their day, their family, their house, their car, the weather, some random animal or plant they saw WHATEVER just so that they can have a human interaction. They legitimately don't know what to do with themselves without work and can't find a real hobby to be enthusiastic about, so they need to go into any store that's open and pretend the employees are their friends.
So basically, I'm a cashier and they treat me like a g-rated prostitute.

Ok so the AARP is a real organization, and it is one of the largest political organizations in the country because in order to be in it all you have to do is be a senior citizen. They have almost no party affiliation, they only focus on the issues at hand and everything is done by donation from their members. ie: all the baby boomers who have fortunes saved up for retirement. However, they are not a para-military organization, instead hey are extremely bureaucratic. The title and premise of this episode is based on the movie Red Dawn from the 80s. Good movie if you have not seen it already. The remake was not bad IMO. However, the ending of the episode is based on the movie 28 Days Later where the rage-infected starve to death.

Malls usually open doors early for seniors only (not the actual stores though) and often provide coffee and let them power walk around before the mall fills up with people.
New drivers (teens) should be able to lower their insurance rates by providing safe transport for the elderly in a shared ride initiative. Kids get experience and lower costs while the elderly don’t have to risk themselves and others by driving. Bam.

just because you flew Spitfires doesn't mean you should have all the rights all the time until you die. In my country people over 75 have to prove they are physically fit before they can get a new license. They have to prove that fitness every 5 years too. It's not perfect but at least it's something. A senior has the 'right' to skateboard too but if you end up in the ER every week for doing it, we would take your skateboard away too.
If they aren’t hurting anyone but themselves they should be allowed to keep doing said activity. I know you feel differently because you force your citizens to pay for other people’s healthcare but that doesn’t happen In the USA. If old man falls he literally pays for it.
I agree, you can’t have a set age where you take a persons drivers license because my mother is 73 and she still has great vision when she’s got her contacts in as always, and her mind is still in great shape. I’ve met people who were not seniors and losing their vision, but still trying to drive so there has to be some kind of a way to check people rather than just taking everyone’s license after they reach a certain age.
This is a misconception. Driving is a right. Tights are things that should never be taken away.

@@PolitikPolitik-fh2qc I disagree, there should be limited reasons they can be taken away, but seniors with declining vision or memory issues. Things like that should not be driving anymore. I do rehabilitation with blind seniors, and I’m blind myself and know that some people drive much longer than they should when they’re losing their vision so they say that everyone should keep those rides forever is completely wrong.
This is a pretty accurate representation of old people driving. I have seen them do some of the craziest shit on the road or in parking lots. They are extremely dangerous lol. Also, to answer your question, I eat my tacos leaning to the left. I had to reenact it because I never thought about it before lol.

My grandma was the same when till one day she was coming over and turned too soon for our drive way and demolished through the water meter ending on a seesaw. Taking away there keys to them is like taking away there independence. but that’s when we knew enough was enough.

As someone who works in crash and other stats that's only true due to a few factors including drive time. Old people and children hardly drive. The Aves you mentioned are typically when people drive the most. This is like many stats where just raw numbers aren't enough if you don't factor in contributing factors

5:58 I can answer that question. If the house was built anywhere between the 2010s and 2020s, the house would be weak enough to be unable to withstand a car ramming into it. Considering the year this episode was released and an approximation of how old this house was at the time, this scene doesn’t make sense because houses were of higher quality when the house was built.

I've seen old people move at speeds you wouldn't think possible nor is it possible for them. Except the time in the morning when they want to get to the best seats.
They are savage like high schoolers too. One of the older ladies got to be in a friend group because she was the fastest and always got her group their booth. Minute she broke her leg, and she was able to get out again. They dumped her admitting they didn't really like her, they only put up with her because she could get them the booth.

I think, too, that old people should have rights, like the right to drive, but if their abilities that help them drive start to weaken with age, like their hearing and eyesight and memory and mental capacity, whether it's due to Alzheimers or dementia or just due to aging, they shouldn't be driving if it means that they could accidentally hurt or kill people.

You can’t take licenses because of a set age it Hass to be because of a persons ability or disabilities. My mother is 73 and she’s always worn. Contacts says she still does and her vision is good and her mind is still in great shape so there Hass to be some kind of mandatory renewals that they go through every three or five years after they hit age 70 but you can’t just say everyone loses their license at that age. In the United States, a license is more important than in other countries because our public transportation sucks. I’ve also seen adults who were not seniors who were having trouble with their vision or their mind, and still driving as well.

I think in NJ, you have to take additional driving tests once you hit a certain age to prove you’re still okay to drive. If I’m wrong, I feel like that should actually be the way it works.

I live in Florida and ive worked retail and food services. Old people are a legitimate problem whether it be driving or how entitled and selfish they are especially when it comes to treating people in the service industry. And then to top it all off they sit there and complain about younger people not working as hard as they did when most people are working 2 or more jobs and then the taxes that come from us working those jobs goes to the elderly peoples social security and they get free money from us.
