Monster Shark Spinning Tackle Fishing Challenge

- In this episode of BlacktipH, we attempt a very tough fishing challenge, catching monster sharks using only spinning tackle. I headed offshore the coast of Florida with Tim from Adrenaline Rush Fishing Charters and my longtime friend Peter Kazazes. The sharks we were targeting were up to 10ft in length and could weigh over 500lbs! We had to build custom fishing rods to have a chance at completing this fishing challenge.

Biggest fish I’ve ever caught was a 315Lb 10.5 Ft Sturgeon
I can’t imagine fighting a shark bigger than that, took me 90 minutes and I was dragged 3 miles down river in a 19 foot boat lol
In a river seems worse than this. I dont know the power of a sturgeon but the tight corners of a river seem miserable to me

Sharks fight much harder than sturgeon so a 300lb sturgeon fights that of a 100lb shark...

There's plenty of people(myself included) that catch sharks on spinning gear all the time. The same size bulls and tigers and lemons and sandbars. And a lot of us aren't using 1000$ custom rods and 1200$ Stella's. If you actually use your equipment correctly and have some real muscle about you, it's nowhere near as hard as they make it out.
I find these videos very relaxing.

and lingcod, and rockfish, and huge halibut, and if you really want to do shark fishing i've heard of some people going for salmon sharks. We have an amazing fishery that definitely rivals Floridas.

Cutting the hook is good but why don't you crush the Barb? It's a circle hook the Barb it just to hold bait. I fish with large barbless circles and they come out easy and you can still cut it and it will fall out every time or if you loose the fish it can fall out.
when you cut it, one end is smooth anyway

I do this challenge all the time. spinning tackle from a pier. Kayak a whole bait out.

I'm from the midwest, fish 4-6days a week up here.
I've fished halibut and salmon in alaska.
Fished out of Florida on a few charter boats.
But THIS looks fricken awesome!!!! Definitely would love to come out with you guys.
