Great to see Chris on the show! Seeing all these pedals on one board reminds me how on fire Benson has been over the last couple years!
Love seeing Chris Benson on here!
The Eb Strat through the Stonk box simultaneously made the hairs on my arms stand up on end and a huge smile break across my face. What a phenomenal sound!
Everything Benson does sounds soooo good
Agreed!
I got to hang out with Chris in Chicago at Fretboard Summit and he’s such a wonderfully intelligent and genuine dude - can’t wait to hang out again (hopefully) again this year!
Hello from just south of you in Brandon! Your channel rocks.
@@periloustemple8290 thank you! ❤️
The stonk, delay, and florist together is such a stadium filling sound. It really sounded like an early 70's Who playing Naked Eye.
Morning everyone! don’t forget to practice before you buy that fancy new amp or pedal!
Benson prices nah!
Hahaha! It is sage advice!
Don’t tell me what to do. Now I’m gonna buy a new amp then practice.
Misinformation. There’s a direct correlation between buying more pedals and being better. I don’t even get offers to play anymore because my pedals have made me too good.
I don't get it
That Benson delay is hauntingly beautiful. Man, oh, man.
Chris Benson seems like a good dude. I'm happy to support a builder making original designs already, but even more so when they're good people.
This! This!
Watching this episode and suddenly remembered a dream I had last night where I was watching an episode of TPS and Mick played something so awesome that his ‘61 Strat literally burst into flames. Mick sets the guitar down on the stool and he and Dan back away from it as the whole guitar goes up in a blaze. Dan starts freaking out and trying to find a fire extinguisher, but Mick just stood there, calmly, accepting the guitars fate.
Hahah! I love this. Mick here. You know us so well. :0)
@@ThatPedalShowsounds a lot like a rereading of Mick's roasted/torched Pacifica from magazine days
Dang! Thank you so much. Not only was this a really great show with an awesome builder and awesome tones (and once again great playing). I had to stop right in the beginning and place my Benson Boost before my Okko Cocaine (Preamp, Compressor, Boost). What a difference. So it took me quite a couple of hours to finish this episode, what a heavenly Friday evening.
YES! I've been waiting for this video for so long! Thanks for getting Chris on the show.
Wow! Sensational, literally. What a wonderful array of sounds, and what a humble gentleman. Yet another vid that I did not want to end. Great job, gang.
Love this. I’m a big fan of Benson Pedals. The Preamp and Stonk are the heart (drive stage) of my studio board. And my smaller board has been transformed by the recent delay. Thanks for this gentlemen, and Chris for his excellent work. Florist looks to be a MUST-try.
Cool show. Chris makes some really well thought out pedals. I love the delay.
Half way through, and feeling the ❤️ love! Everything sounds EPIC! Strong is the perfect adjective. Can’t wait to hear the Surf’s up! 🤯
The sounds from the florist are absolutely superb. 👍
awesome episode, very cool tones, wasn't aware of the Verellen connection, and extra points to Chris for wearing a Botch t-shirt 🙌killer band
What a cool show. Was enjoying it so much i took an interval and played my geet for a while then finished it off.. cheers
Great show. Chris is so far ahead of the game it’s hilarious! Thanks guys.
Oh boy! I’ve been wanting a benson amp for a long time! Here we go!
Mick and Dan, thank you for that episode! Chris seems like an awesome dude!
Wow, Great show guys I love Benson pedals I own the preamp and the boost and now I will be purchasing your latest fuzz next week also you guys the playing was crazy good, great job always!
Thanks Gents, what a great way to start the Weekend and what an interesting guy Chris is. The stuff he makes sound awesome and the secret of his success is simple, UNBRIDLED PASSION AND NO COMPROMISE and it certainly pays off. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
👍🏿🤘 So nice to see Chris on the show. His gear is so superb.
This one was such a gift as are you all. My likely closest family hails from near Portland... Oregon City. SO! Decades ago I toured the UK properly, (no guides) and my wife and I let our senses of Enchantment drive us thither and yon. The trip was blessed, immensely. Mick, Dan... please, if you've a drop of inclination to rest your souls in enchanted geographies. I swear... shamelessly reach out and ask Chris to host you on a visit to Portland and then the greater Oregonian and Costal experience. Bring family. Your deepest desires for your arts in music, and your loved ones will be what's the word... just a blessed place to come from like many in the UK. Can't say enough it seems. Ok... I want a Benson Board! Cheers all. Old Sam at 71 in two weeks. And... I'm thinking about coming back to England and Oregon just from the vibes in this episode... absolutely kindred.
Chris is one of those humble geniuses…
I use the preamp in front of my little two rock, has been like a magic second channel, but it’s the feel of that pedal that separates it
Looking forward to trying the florist
One of my favourite episodes!
And one of my favorite builders!
i agree
All of it sounded great! The Florist kind of reminds me of the old DynaFlanger… and I dig it!
Props fellow Portlander! Amazing stuff, amazing story.
I picked up the delay a few days ago! How serendipitous. Also its AMAZING!
Great Show! Great Gear! Great Hang!
Ayyyy! I love Benson Amps and Chris is a gem. I'm happy that you guys finally get to experience a Monarch Reverb. It's my fave amp.
It was a Bellringer (Monarch+ with more watts, sorta).
Well, I think it is fair to say that Chris does indeed know how to make things sound good!! 🥰
I already own his Germanium Fuzz (which is on my board) and his Stonk Box… I’ve loved the Germanium Preamp from all the demos I’ve heard of it (including this one) and the Florist sounds bloody amazing, so I think I may have other Benson purchases to make 🤔👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Oh man, I almost didn't watch this video but I'm so glad that I did. Well done Chris, all of those pedals are magical and you can see why you've been so successful. That delay especially, and the germanium pre-amp could easily find its way on to my board someday methinks. Magical to see!
The Florist sounds like a ton of fun. Looking forward to that one for sure. Great video Gents!
After owning the Chase Bliss/Benson Atomatone Preamp for 6 months, I want a Monarch in my life SO BAD. I NEED ONE.
Love it! Cheers.
This is gonna be a good show ❤
Chris thanks so much great show. EL34 are such great tubes, cut my teeth on them back in college.
Thanks Mick & Dan!
Really love Benson gear!! I've been wanting a Vinny for sometime but it's tough to get without paying secondary prices. Looks like I'm getting a new delay instead😂!!! Brilliant design and what a fantastic episode all around! Thanks so much!!
Best guitar playing part is at the very end. Awesome stuff !!
I love those sweet dreamy parts Chris played! And Mick was on - all Eb and fuzzed out!
Dan’s playing at 39:40 is nothing short of amazing! The look on Mick’s face says it all. 👏🙌🙌
Ah, cheers mate
Overdue! Love it!
The delay sounds amazing, as do all the other pedals too!!
Loved this video. What a beautiful human making beautiful music gear ❤
Wow that Florist sounds very interesting!
ok guys you win and rock!! Now I will have to get Benson pedals!! Loe the Show
That STONK BOX is a heck'uv'a tone.
Dan, I think I heard you play part of Thrak on the Stonk Box! LOL. This episode has been out only 2 hours and I am on my 3rd pass at it. Just blown away. Such great stuff! I got to get some of that in my life!
WOW. Credit Chris for bringing THE SOUND. Effect tour de force!
In this stark digital world we now live... the warmth guys like Chris/Benson Amps bring to this world, we just need more of! Thank you Mick and Dan!
This. Yes!
That delay pedal makes me want to get one NOW!
So excited for this one!
Absolutely fantastic show and sounds that totaly got me. One of the best, if not the best sounds you ever made on show (even if I consider Andy Timmons and Roben Ford episodes)
Great interview and/or 'hang out'! lads!
Brilliant !! I am predicting that BensonAmps will need to pump up production.
Benson plugins are amazing. I was blown away with demoing it and then I bought Chimera. Huge tones and best plugin fuzz out there. Seriously.
NIce show! also saw that Ruben from Unknown Mortal Orchestra uses a Benson amp housed in a Yamaha cabinet. Sounds incredible
My Benson Monarch is one of the best amps I have ever played in my 60+ years!
I have one too. Got it when they were about $1,800. Used ones now list for about $3,000. It's a wonderful clean/pedal platform, but the distortion sucks if you turn it up. It's classic tweeb-flubby sludge - it's very one trick pony. I never turn mine past about 10 o'clock, usually keeping it around 9 o'clock. All dirt comes from pedals. It's still uber loud at home. But if you use one for a large show, you'll need more power (though there is no Direct Out on it) or go direct to PA with the appropriate box. Just an FYI, people. It is what it is, and it's great for what it does.
Super interesting episode(as always) Benson was under my radar until this episode!! Germanium boost(🤪), the Delay, the mk1/zonk, and the germanium preamps are all WOW! Thanks a lot.
That Benson delay sounds amazing
I’ve been waiting for this episode!!!!!
Thanks guys that was great ✌️
Acceptable tones!
Sounds to me as if Dan has found some new tones on that SG. Amazing playing, amazing sounds, brilliant.
That benson preamp is magic with a deluxe reverb and strat
Chris is the best. TPS is the best. This is the best!
YOU'RE the best, dan!
Thank you Dan! As nonhumanaudio said, YOURE THE BEST!
Nice one guys! The Benson Preamp was already great and the germanium one is even greaterer ;-)
Great episode. The Bellringer cleans reminded me of my Trainwreck Express clone. Beautiful sounds from el34s. The Dumble episode was also very similar to the experience people have playing my ‘wreck clone. Absolutely visceral, exposes every thing you do, but majestic when you can control it. Life changing tones. Mick, Epi DG335 update. I’ve had it for a couple months now. Exceptionally well built, feels amazing to play and just sounds so good. Sounds more ‘alive’ then my other 335. Really impressed with it and it’s made me want to play more which is a great change. It’s worth having a go on one if you come across one. Cheers
Nice one Nick! Great that the DG is working out. Super cool machine!
On the visceral front, look out for a 100 watt Marshall Super Bass on the channel soon. Bone shaking! :0)
I want to try a TW Express so badly. Will eventually get a Ceriatone clone 🤞
As a Bassist and a Plumber, I love the heating control circuit in the Stonk Box and I need to try this
Love my Stonk Box! Currently running it into a Big Muff Circuit for a glorious lead tone!
What a stellar human this guy Benson is!
Oh no! I need them all!
zero interest before seeing this guy in person, he's humble and cool.
I'm a fan now.
I think could have listened to you guys mess with the delay for two hours. Really stunning sounds out of that thing!
The only thing I wish you’d have had time for would be a little more on his amps. I know the drive is his pre-amp, but those things really are special. Love everything this man does. And you guys too, of course!
Wow that stuff sounds great
That florist sounds amazing. I’d love to hear that in parallel with a big reverb from the Polyverbs pedal.
God only knows how much I want a Surfs Up. I’ve had a hard time with Fuzz and humbuckers but the Stonk with Dans 61 sounded ace going to have to seek one out. Thanks D&M for all you do!
I’ve really been loving the Silktone Fuzz with humbuckers. Especially in raw mode. About to pull the trigger on a Stonk Box to get an easy to use MKI on my board.
@@youngtough00 thank you for reminding me about a Fuzz for my humbuckers. I’ll check out the silktone, sounds cool. Let me know what you think about the Zonk haven’t bought one yet but I’m sold!
I've had an original Benson Preamp for some years now and have really liked it. Clearly I need to add to the Benson collection.
The Florist in the intro to me was instant John Scofield. Love it.
Kinda crazy that Benson has found a way to improve a reverb unit... So cool about the blending of the short and long tanks! Not to mention the Ge temp control...
Mostly stoked about Chris Benson wearing a BOTCH T shirt on TPS 🤘🏻
They make great stuff, the mod 11 is a great modulation pedal, and the pitchfork is handy too.
Man that Stonk Box and delay sound amazing!
great episode, would love to see you doing an episode on Orange amps, cheers
Noel's Knobs! HA! I'm loving it. I look forward to seeing that clip.
I'm only twenty mins in and they are talking about the stonk box and mk1 designs- while I don't think it's a true mk1 clone by any stretch, but the 3 germanium transistors design of the Jack deville buzzmaster is the best "mk1" I've heard, it has amazing sustain and clean up and gated octave character at times, just my favorite fuzz every time I plug in. Since Chris and jack are buds I had to show some JD love. Buzzmaster for life.
Really enjoyed the brief demo of the Regnirlleb.
The whole Beach Boys thing is crazy and wonderful.
someone needs to get Joey Landreth a florist. Can only imagine the epicness...
That’s not impossible 😎
Time and again when I watch these builder videos it becomes clear that their most important skill may well be what and how they hear their products. It's such an ineffable thing, but you know it when you see it in someone else. Oh ... they GET it.
If you delve into Benson amplifiers in a future show, I would love to hear Chris’s perspective on the contribution of the Soursound transformers he uses in the Bellringer, Vincent, Monarch, etc. What does Bryan Sours bring to the designs?
Thanks!
Yeah Bryan’s definitely doing something right. His transformers are in most of the amps I want(Benson and Silktone).
For honest and raw drive and boost pedals Benson can't be beaten 👍
Mick, you’re looking you’re looking good mate!
I own old 100w Marshalls, and a Lion, and I must say the Lion using the Fryette Power Station as a power amp put through an old 4x12 with Blackbacks is a glorious thing, pretty authentic sound... and I'm a grumpy old purist!
Great video, best in a while! It's done nothing for my GAS and bank balance 🤔 The delay and stonk box are particularly joyous 😊
Genius.
