Gentle c-sections - as they are often referred to - have risen in popularity in recent years (which is fantastic) - and many hospitals offer them as an option.
Immediate skin-to-skin - and attempting to breastfeed - can be an option with this.
It sounds great in theory - and I’ve heard some beautiful stories. But keep in mind the possibility that you won’t want to do it - and even if you planned on it, you can change your mind.
If you’re mentally prepared for it - and so is your spouse/partner and birth team - chances of success re higher. But there are a number of moms who feel shaky and out of it after a c-section and would rather wait - and that’s ok, too!
Talk with your spouse/partner, make a plan for what your ideal is - but also be okay with adapting :)
