  • Hi, this video shows you how to allow 4K and HDR on a Xbox One X console. If you have moved your Xbox One X from a lower resolution television then you may have to allow the 4K/HDR settings like shown in the video.
    Many thanks Vince.

    1. This is exactly how I need to be shown something to do it effectively. Every step along the way, clearly demonstrated and explained. 2. This solved a problem of my 4K movies skipping as I watched them, temporarily going black to which I could not figure out a solution. THANK YOU!

What's really important here is to check which HDMI Ports support 4K and HDR. Some TVs you may need enable HDR on each HDMI input(which may still be limited to only 2 or 3 ports). On Android TV, particularly newer Sony Bravia TVs(2016 and later), to you need to go to Home, Settings, External Inputs, HDMI signal format, and choose Enhanced Format

There's also a 1440p mode, one Xbox One S and Xbox One X now. It's most likely meant for people with 1440p monitors. Go to settings, Display & Sound, and under resolution, select 1440p. In settings, you may also need to go under Advanced, select Video Fidelity and Overscan, and under Connection, select HDMI. Use Auto Adjust on your monitor to scale the picture to fill the screen.

When I switch between my 1080p TV and 4K TV I do not have to do this. The Xbox will automatically detect it and ask me if I would like to change it. If it remembers the displayed its connected to, or has been connected to before, it will automatically do it. Maybe they changed this since this video was made. It will switch between 1080P and 4k hdr on its own. But I think it's because it recognizes my displays
