God, you're so real for this. I see so many people in PC communities say they are thinking of buying a console this gen because "they can play at 4k 60 fps" and the new GPUs are too expensive. But like the PS5 Xbox Series X are only about as powerful as a 2070 Super. An RTX 3060 is fully capable of playing games at 4k 60 "performance" or 4k 60 "quality" just like the consoles do. It is just for some reason getting 30 fps is unacceptable for PC but it is for a PS5? Sadly the 3060 is still over priced, but if you can find one for around $300 you can play all the latest games the consoles are playing.

Thank you for this informative analysis my man. I bought the 3060 from EVGA at the beginning of the year for $400 and it has been perfect for 1440p ultra in every game I've played and is a breeze for video and photo editing. I like how you explained how versatile this card is due to its full pcie interface and 12gb of vram. I think it will age fairly well especially with dlss 2.0 and possibly 3.0 support in the future.

I am somewhat unusual as a gamer and prefer detail, quality and resolution over framerate. As long as I can get 30-40fps I'm happy. I'm seriously considering the 3060 along with a 38" 3840x1600 ultrawide. That resolution comes in at about 6.1 million pixels, so about 75% of true 4k. I think the 3060 would do the job for me.

Imagine the differance in performance between someone who bought original 1060 which had 3gb vram vs someone else who bought rx 580 which has 8gb vram and they were around the same price if i remember correctly. @@HardwareLab 3060ti is much closer to 3070 than the 3060, as it is a cut down RTX 3070. 3060ti has 8 GB VRAM because it shares the same memory controller with the 3070, and 3070 has 8GB VRAM due to product segmentation and planned obsolescence just like RTX 3080 10GB. The reason 3060 can get 12 GB VRAM is that by the time RTX 3080 and 3070 gets bogged down at 1440p due to VRAM, 3060 will already be too weak to render above 1080, so the VRAM won't really make it last, thus it can have the precious "12GB memory" badge to attract sellers compared to AMD's 8GB cards such as RX 5700XT at launch, and RX 66xx series currently.

Cool video, honestly I'm running my 3060 mostly at 1080p, I feel like it's a good card but it's still overpriced in my country, if I had money to spare I would eventually try to wait a good deal on a 6700 or 6700 XT that still have more than 8GB of vram (which can be useful as you said) and get enough performance for 1080p.
Also, one last thing, before my 3060 I had a 970 so I couldn't use DLSS properply of course but I wanted to say that there are some games where it's kinda strange how DLSS works, I even tried on The Witcher 3 next gen and it seems that even at best quality DLSS it feels like I'm shortsighted, really strange, that's why when it feels like this I try to run full native

While its clear that settings have to be adjusted to provide solid stable game performance, with effort it's achievable.

I don't know if it's useful to you but your r9 290x vs gtx 780ti was by far the most interesting video you did. Not for the benchmarks themselves but for slowly showing why the numbers are the way they are. So, in my opinion, if you can, you shuold try build your channel on broader arguments like you did on that video. Benchmarking gpus like this its a bit uninteresting. I think that the best you could do is teaching the things you know about gpus, graphic engines and limitations and problems of these technologies without detaching yourself from the practical applications and results that you and your viewers get to experience.

    • @BurningDrake39

Sure, but this video is more like a filler, that also have some key points and arguments. Of course, we need to mix videos that take a lot of time and effort with something more simple

This video helps a lot deciding what card to buy. I'm trying to decide between the 3060 12gb and the 3060 Ti. I get the impression that the 3060 12gb will be able to run games in the future better than the 3060 Ti even though currently most titles run better on the Ti (but Far Cry 6 is an exception that I think is indicative of a tendency.)
That 8gb vram looks like a real bottleneck that will make newer titles unplayable soon, whereas the 12gb vram will give a solid chance for the 3060. That's my impression at least, I'll get back to you in a few years as to whether my thesis worked out haha

The 40's series shit has me torn man, the card by itself isn't really that much more powerful than the 30 series counter parts.. yet with DLSS being what it is these days and the 40 Series offering frame gen.. the 40 series is offering more in terms of software. not sure if im going to upgrade but at the moment with the 3060 i'm still good for a while i hope

And once you try older games even my much weaker GTX 1070 can handle 4K games. Like Starcraft II with pretty high settings, Final Fantasy XIII and others from that era. So yeah: It's clear the 3060 can play 4K games, even though the pure power of that card might not be the best of the current generation. I'm really missing the VRAM on many newer nVidia models.
