Why I Hate The Boss Baby⎮A Dreamworks Discussion

- Ah Boss Baby. How I hate thee. Seriously, I am a big time Dreamworks apologist. I think they are majorly underrated, and so it hurts me to say....but this has gotta be one of my all time most hated films. It really is an abomination. A sin. A crime against humanity... and here is why.

The fact that dreamworks is the studio who made both Boss Baby and Prince of Egypt blows up my mind
WAIT WHAT-?! The Prince of Egypt is outstanding, there's no way these were made by the same studio
Don’t forget Kung Fu Panda as well!
@Dovyeon Definitely. How could I forget How To Train Your Dragon? That trilogy is a masterpiece as well. The Bad Guys I haven’t seen, but I heard that it’s good.
That goes with every animation studios
@Dovyeon Your comment
makes zero sense.
The Worst Part About This Film Is That Tim Wore His *Shoes* in the *_Bed_* 💀
Yeah, at least he just had socks on when he first found out that Boss Baby could talk. They could’ve done something like that instead of having him wear shoes in bed.
If it makes you feel better, how you feel about Boss Baby is how I feel about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - an abomination and crime against humanity
Cursed Child is Rowling's revenge against Twitter
You should watch movieflame fixing the cursed child
@@Allthingsedits505 I took your advice and watched the video and OMG movieflame is a genius!
@@Lionstar16 I know he’s my favorite CZcamsr
That’s over exaggerated
It’s not a crime, it’s just a bad movie
The one thing that I find the most excruciating about this movie is that the whole premise doesn't make sense.
First of all, it doesn't show how babies are made, they basically appear out of nowhere and are then thrown into the real world.
Secondly, if babies were artificially created instead of being born, how did the human race even begin? It's impossible that the BabyInc, the supertechnological/magical agency that creates babies, existed since when we were just monkies with better balance. Like, how were babies even delivered?
And last, but not least, if babies are delivered, why do moms' bellies grow to contain a baby even if it isn't in phisically in their body? Tim's mom lotteraly grows and loses a pregnant mom belly in the span of a scene!
What the hell DreamWorks, gimme some answers!
The first two points can basically be answered with magic, the supernatural or a Big Bang-like event that brought them into existence.
I don't got anything for 3 but it is implied some events only happened in Tim's imagination.
Did y'all not see the end of the movie? The whole thing was an inventive story he told to his daughter that dramatizes how he felt as a kid when he got a little brother. I liked it.
ur so cringe, its a cartoon its obviously meant to make no sense like spongebob, theres a difference between a plot making no sense and a cartoon world. and its a movie for kids so obv its not supposed to show how babies are made. i hate this movie but ur just being cringe and like a 9 year old who just found out how babies are made.😑😑
@@nunyabusiness164 Exactly!
My favorite part of The boss baby was the 2nd boss baby where they quite literally retconned EVERYTHING in the first movie and just threw it out the window.
The first movie *heavily* implies that the events of the entire movie were in Tim's imagination, or a dream. 2nd movie was like "nop! all that shit actually happened, all of it"
Technically not retconning if it was only implied and not straight up confirmed.
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 It still doesn’t make sense. They literally implied that it was all Tim’s imagination in the first movie and then in the second movie, they were basically saying it wasn’t his imagination, which is basically contradicting.
Unless the events of the sequel were also Adult Tim’s imagination as a way of coping with the fact of his firstborn daughter growing up so quickly and balancing both the responsibility of his younger brother and newborn daughter. It’s possible. 🤷♂️
In the end, Tim’s oldest is the one we see reacting to her sister wearing a suit and tie, with her winking at the end. Since it’s established in BB2 that Tabitha is more book smart focused than creative focused, then that means Baby Corp does exist and function to some degree.
It’s leas of a retcon and more of a confirmation than anything.

I watched this movie in theaters with a friend and we both still laugh about it. Yeah it’s not spectacular or ground breaking, but I kinda enjoy the simple, cute actions of the characters and watch it to unwind.
I’ve seen much worse movies that I barely finished, but Boss Baby isn’t one of them.
The fact that this thing beat A Silent Voice at the oscar will forever haunt me
The boss baby show removes any heart that was in the movie. At the end of the movie boss baby learns his and the company's idea of love is wrong. There is enough love for everyone and chooses to go back home to tim. This is signified when he changes the heart diagram and all the colors spin around showing there I enough love to around. But in the boss baby show all of that is thrown out the window and they are trying to ensure that cats don't take all the love.
And then you relalize kid suffers from schizofrenia and all magic is lost
an Oscar nomination for convincing the most people to watch cringe...
How this movie beat out a silent voice at the oscars boggles the mind this movie should never have been nominated
I'm glad I'm not the only one who just irrationally hates this movie! It was so bad but some people are/were so obsessed with it and I do not understand.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this film is a crime against humanity.
My god, I think the same as well. This, this is great that I'm not the only one.
Not just humanity its a crime against the greatest animators of all time
Bruh this series is not that bad
I swear yall are just exaggerating for attention you damn well know there's at least 1 thing good about it
I loved the boss baby TV show. It was everything I wanted in a show. Comedic, adorable, premise was amazing, storylines were fun, and let me feel like a kid and escape into another world for a moment. I didn't like the movies but I fell in love with it's premise so I watched the TV show. It made me laugh, I was immersed in the story, and everything about it was adorable. I was actually sad when it ended. I guess it targets more of a younger crowd.
Same tbh, the show is very good in my opinion
I agree

No boss baby is an obomination
The worst part about this movie is I tried to watch it with the mindset that most of it was Tim's imagination and half the time I couldn't
It wasn’t his imagination, Boss Baby 2 debunks that.
@@emiritorisei I think it’s still probable the events of the second film were in his imagination as a way of coping with his eldest daughter growing up so quickly and trying to balance the responsibility of looking after his youngest daughter and his younger brother making a surprise visit during the holidays.
i watched this in the theaters and i actually felt sensory overload when things started to get fast and weird that i was starting to get a little queasy, this movie is a crime against autism and sensory issues
This movie got a Netflix series while ROTG is left forgotten. Just take that in 😔
The humor is one of the many reasons why the captain underpants movie is underrated. It had lots of potty humor, but It still had a balance between that and good humor.
I'm waiting for day when Smarty Pants will say "I would like to say: these were just my opinions and now I would like to hear yours, but you know what? Screw it. This movie was trash and if anyone says otherwise I don't even want to hear their opinion"
I actually really like this movie and the second one yes it was way better but I do think both of them were actually quite good
I was a mere child when it was released and if you like good art style and voice-acting this movie is for you but as he said story wise nothing really exciting was in there
The movies were abominations but the show was decent.
speaking of dreamworks ....what about a prince of egypt video ?!?!?.... like how forgotten it is ?!?!?!?!
Very, it is like 24 years old
This movie is the most offensive way of saying animation is for kids, I rather watch something like Rio and despicable me than this. At least Rio has some substance than adults watch, especially for biologist.
Ikrr i loved rio when I was little
i know that this movie is objectively bad, but as a camp counselor that’s had to play movies for kids that come early or leave late, it’s entertaining enough and can keep the kids quiet for at least a little bit, and that’s all i really need tbh
FUN FACT: Mr. Peabody and Sherman is for some reason the only movie i have ever played that genuinely keeps all of the kids quiet. it’s kind of amazing
@@corynt6122I’ve never watched the show but damn that movie was a masterpiece 😭🙏
The Boss Baby is defo my least favourite DreamWorks movie. Even Shark Tale is better than that movie imo.
My little sister (at the time 7) was binging this show. I despised it and considered it brain rot. So I told her that the boss baby is a grown adult with that illness that makes you stop aging and that he drugged Tim into believing all that stuff that was happening there. Also that his parents are dead and this is a hallucination and that’s why they never notice what he’s doing. I haven’t seen her watching the show ever since.
I don’t fully hate the first one and then the series was horrid
I sort of like the second one
Edit: I haven’t watched them in years so yeah
The tv show was pretty good
To me this movie felt like fever dream
I'm in the field of believing that any concept can work if the execution is well thought out. While I love The Captain Underpants movie for being an all around awesome adaptation (and it came out from Dreamworks in 2017 as well, so here's hoping it gets a review sometime!) in addition to altering a few bits to streamline four books into a movie (it also happened to have great toilet humor as well as other types), Boss Baby is an adaptation that I don't feel does the source material justice. While it all took place in Tim's mind in the book, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell how much of it Tim is making up as the movie progresses (the bright colors were a great indication in the beginning, but they completely ditch that except for the ending). By the time we reach the third act, I become completely lost due to them now having made it to PuppyCo and engaging in the final confrontation with the villain. To what extent is it actually happening vs what's going on in Tim's mind? That was something I deeply wish had more thought placed into it.
I'm happy that others can enjoy it for what it is but that glaring plot hole really rubs me the wrong way.
Oh and Wizzie's my favorite character in the movie, he really feels like a sidekick to Tim through thick and thin and the performance of his voice actor had me smiling!
Boss Baby 1 wasn’t Tim’s imagination because Boss Baby 2 basically says that everything he talked about was real and actually happened. In the book, Tim doesn’t even exist. It’s only Boss Baby, his sister, and the parents.
@@emiritorisei Ohh okay! Thanks, it'd been a while since I read it so I was certain to have missed something here or there.
I remember seeing this in the theater on the last day of 8th grade. The teachers told us that we were going to watch the new diary of a wimpy kid movie. But realizing that the movie would be release in 2 weeks... We had to watch the boss baby.
Yeah, even The Long Haul is a tad more fun than The Boss Baby.
I always wonder how this is the same company who made a masterpiece like shrek
When I watch the movie in 2017 I said it was fine but honestly I think the Netflix series boss baby back in business is much better with the characters and the voice acting
I agree
In my opinion the series is way worse. I liked the movie but the series has horrible animation. Other than that, it was okay.
I saw it's dubbed version they were airing on TV few months back. I didn't know about this movie's existence. When I first saw it, I assumed it is about a child who was emotionally neglected after his brother arrival or so does he feel. Because of that, he is taking drastic steps like going as far as harming his brother. To me, all that baby talking and things like that seemed to be stemming from his imagination or movie is trying to portray a child's perspective in a light hearted manner.
However, at the baby world scene I realised they're actually serious about babies being beaten by puppies in terms of popularity and they want to stop it.
I shut down the TV.
Bro I actually liked the Boss baby, watched the neflix show, loved Boss Baby 2 and watched the 2nd neflix show 😭
I like boss baby as well
I don’t like the series of these movies. They have horrible animation. The movies are way better in my opinion.
@@emiritorisei okay, the animation could be better but i am most referring to the story line!
@@DarkShadow-gr1ym The first Cat war season was horrible (at least to me). The second season was actually good and resolved like a conflict between babies and grandparents. And obvious Season 3 and Season 4 are the most goated parts of the show.
I actually dont hate this movie. The music and artstyles are good, one of the few cartoons that take advantage of the fact it's a cartoon. It's actually kinda funny at times, some of it is from the delivery of the voices. But the message is confusing. The message is that love is infinite, but why do they take down the puppies if they learned that they can share the love? Its a movie for young kids instead of the family, its better to view it like that instead.
The most strange thing I found was the Tim being 7 years old yet having intelligence 12 years ahead of young adult is very impressive but very chilling.
No wonder why boss baby isnt too appealing as I didnt watched it too but I know it would be painful
Reminder that A silent Voice and Your Name were SNUBBED for best animation to this
I watched the show. I'll admit it and it was entertaining for what it was. It filled the time until I found something better.
11:10 why my parents took me, but unfortunately they made another Netflix series
OK but the interactive Netflix game is good tho
I sort of agree
I can just say that with how much backlash this movie got
If you look at it from a different angle it’s a fine movie not too good not too awful just fine like
It’s not something that I would re watch over and over again but it’s fine
I mean it was supposed to be meant for little children so 😅 I don’t think as an adult I have an opinion but still it’s just a movie that I can bare with
I liked the first film, but the animation in the Netflix series is undeniably awful.
@@emiritorisei for me it’s decant it’s not good it’s not that bad it’s watchable but the newest newest show animation could potentially be in a need of improvement
I'm not fond of this movie either, but the majority of this video seemed like pointless complaining. You barely even gave your reasons to why you hated it.
Yeah..this is true. I watched this, expecting for this video to be reasonable, but instead it was just mostly complaining without reason.
Btw theirs a boss baby sequel, theirs a boss baby spin off show and another spin off show.I’ve watching all of them because it’s one of the memories that started at my grandfathers house btw
This is the only time where i dont agree with smarty pants idk if its my nostalgia for this franchise holding it up for me or its fun its like despicable me a film to make you laugh not a emotional story like Pixar
I went to go see this film in theaters against my will thanks to a couple of my friends at the time, and, unsurprisingly, I hated it. I wanted to skip the film because I knew what I was going to get myself into after watching the trailers, but no…
I saw it and completely forgot about it.
Like, it's hard to believe that this, MouseHunt and the Ring occupy the same film landscape.
My crimes against humanity would have to be *Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers and Lightyear* because Chip and Dale taught me that when everyone rails against something collectively to wait until it comes out for everyone to *immediately* change their tune because it's Disney, and Lightyear because it is an *ENDLESS* barrage of Disney not caring about what good filmmaking is anymore due to ruling over all of it.
Like, Lightyear is Disney at its most horrendously excessive.
And the bad guy from the newest Chip and Dale is just Disney being cruel. That voice actor who played Petter Pan was banned from getting any job after Disney. And so without any support from social group he got addicted to cocaine and died
I like it because it is a brother battle thing just like my brothers always fight
Definitely just for toddlers and kiddos
6:20 What about his performance in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie?
The worst part that the songs really slaps hard and they’re so good that literally forgot that I’m watching boss baby
No discussion needed your valid
I don’t remember hating it as much when I was a little kid. I wouldn’t watch again though
I’m just not someone who tends to dislike things. At most,I can usually say a show or film is average or mediocre (which this film was) but I can still find some entertainment in really anything, especially if it means I get to avoid talking to people.
You know what? Same here, actually.

I can't really remember the fart jokes. Guess it didn't really bother me too me. However I do know that there are worse movies out there. At least the animation is decent. At least the voice actors are good. At least the music in the background suits what's going on. And at least the movie has a good message about two brothers becoming a team and working together to achieve the same goal at the end of it. I didn't think the story is too bad. It's average. Simply because the message is good, I think it's better than trolls, that recent Disney dragon movie, food fight and quite a lot of other movies.
The Boss baby is worse than The Good Dinosaur. Which, by the way, is the Worst movie Pixar has ever made

Prince of Egypt is an absolute masterpiece compared to this garbage. I really miss the old traditional 2D style animation amd hardly gets used in film anymore. So PoE is simply classic.

If I may say. I 100% agree with your statement that the film had potential for success. The humour is piss poor and the pacing and questions that arise are quite frustrating. Idk but the potential is something that I like about it. To be completely honest this is one of my favourite movies by dreamworks even though it’s not the best one (I like the other movies better) but the way I think this film could have properly earned its nomination and “sequel “ would be delving more into the characters and answering more questions about the world they live in. There’s so much I wanted from this movie that it’s so disappointing. Maybe I’m just in my head but if this was a passion project I think we would have gotten a way more heartfelt film.✨
Why you don’t like this movie
Boss Baby is literally just the first Rugrats movie except no charm
I think the movie exists just because the book it was based on was successful and so a movie studio wanted to capitalize on that by making a movie version.
I watched this last night and I enjoyed it alot.
My little sister used to watch boss baby the TV show thing and it’s the worst maybe because of the humor, and I don’t really like that humor but there was just a lot of it
