Is The Miraculous Fandom Doomed?⎮A Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 Discussion

- Is it just me, or is the Miraculous fandom starting to die off a fair bit? Like seriously... year after year, I feel like it keeps bleeding fans and losing engagement, and that's not exactly something that bodes well for the future of the franchise, especially since they want this thing to go on for years and years. Watch the video for even more Miraculous Ladybug ranting. Enjoy!
I don't know how the Miraclous team expects to keep the ball rolling for five or more years when people are already tired of the story being dragged out and releases being so inconsistent.
Well I think it's probably because all those things people complain about being dragged out are going to be resolved in season 5. I look at any future seasons as more of a sequel or continuation. Now whether that continuation is worth telling remains to be seen.
Yet they plan on making the show go on for 12 seasons
Also kiddies will probably always keep watching and that’s who they claim it’s for.
yeah and did they also not think about the little kids who will grow up? i loved miraculous when i was 11 and im turning 18 this year 😭
With its convoluted power system and plot holes out the wazoo yeah they are not going to keep this up
Miraculous: It's a kids show, it doesn't need to make sense!
Fans who are complaining: Kids deserve GOOD writing and a chronological order too!
My 5 year old nephew loves Miraculous but even he is all like “but I already saw this one!”
Seeing good storytelling helps kids learn to tell their own good stories. It’s amazing that people don’t get that.
@@Window4503 remember winx club (all until season 5) ? That was actual good storytelling
and this goes for many different tv shows from the 90s and early 2000s
I think I have to agree with Marinette's grandfather on this: "that's not how it's done".
@@mrsfahrenheit And the creator is someone who used to write for Code Lyoko. Good Show. Even with a lot of similar tropes, but it had overarching stuff.
Every episode:
I am Hawk Moth. I'm giving you the power... In return, i want you to get Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous. Yes, Hawk Moth. It won't be long until Ladybug and Cat Noir show up to meet their doom! Tikki, spots on! Plagg, claws out! Lucky Charm! What am i supposed to do with this? Cataclysm! No more evildoing for you, little Akuma. Time to de-evilize! Gotcha! Byebye little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug! What am i doing here? Pound It!
... Hawk Moth: I lost this time. Next time I will win!!
Very good summary of the first two seasons and a good chunk of season 3. Not season 4 and 5.
Recently it's just more blatant child abuse/abandonment and really shitty decisions... Mofo is losing to teenagers on a daily basis. He has no life, does the same thing every time and still doesn't learn.
Definition of insanity
@@MiyuKawasaki nah he usually makes a rhyme or something corny
@@Exxezze mhm I just simplified it so you can apply it to each episode
Miraculous had such a great concept and potential, but they went down the worst route ever. Everything they write is like something you see in a first draft. What baffles me is that with a team of writers, no one called out the problems it has, especially during S3
Yes. I agree. I always say that they never review their scripts or their previous ones because they think it is great as is.
The premises are great, but the lore, character development, and writing becomes repetitive and makes the characters worse. It feels episodic again instead of serial because the scripts were not reviewed before each episode’s release.
exactly they just dont seem to care. they just care more about quantity over quality. they will literally make episodes with the most absurd bullshit plots
literally the only reason i stay invested in miraculous content is the fandom. miraculous is great for fan content bc, like u said, the concept is great but the execution was horrible. so it gives lots of writers and artists a great base and many avenues to make their own stories in the miraculous universe. i feel like the miraculous fandom thrives off of fan content more than the show itself.
Because it's exactly as they intended it to be. An action/comedy slice of life series.
SO TRUE
We need better villains and also have our characters become "smart". Not smart like some genius Jimmy neutron type of level, but smart as in average human level. With that, a better story-line could develop and strengthen the fandom/community.
I know right! Felix showed up and literally did a feat of average human intelligence. Cut sentigabe's pants, later pants weren't cut. Proof its a sentimonster. He showed up like twice in season 4 and was literally the highlight of that season
Hi
@@siroreo717 hi
Great point! And remember what Lila did at S3 E24? That was so devious, yet so genious! I would like to see more characters utilize their brains more.
And i'm not the only one who noticed almost ALL akumatized villains have similar, if not the EXACT same powers with a different look right?!
Like, the akumas could be classified as:
1.- Pew Pew Now you're my servant
2.- Pew Pew i transform you into something
3.- Pew Pew some other overly cartoonish effect like making you stupid??
4.- Kaiju monster that terrorizes the city
The amount of akumatized villain with an actual creative power are so little they could be numbered with your fingers like Mr pigeon, volpina, lady wifi, Christmaster, syren, Max's mom whose villain name i forgot, Max's little robot. And the worst part is that there are SO MANY possibilities with more variety of powers.
I'm a teenager and 75% of people in my class used to watch the show about two years ago but they've stopped because of the reveal being delayed for so long and there being no explanation for why they can't recognize each other which made watching the show extremely frustrating(I know about quantum masking but it was brought in way too late in the story so they all stopped watching before this explanation was given, and it's not even a great explanation😑)
I would say the opposite. I would say there have been too many "reveals" and they need to stop teasing completely. If they don't, no ones going to care when it actually happens. The reveal has happened like what..? 5 times?
Oblivio, Chat Blanc, Ephemeral... pretty sure there's one more.
If they keep giving us these what if episodes, the real reveal will mean much less.
Happy you're still somewhat active in the community because the reason you stated doesn't rlly make sense. No one would watch superhero stuff if them not being recognised was frustrating, look at Superman for example.
There are way more understandable reasons for quitting this show: Bad writing, bad animation, bad release schedule, inactive fandom, growing up and away from shows aimed at kids, frustration over episodic/non-plot show.
Me personally? I stay because of the idea. The idea they've created is so unique and spectacular, they seriously fumbled the bag across all aspects and it's still one of the most popular kids shows in the world. Or was, whatever. Imagine if this show was being made by someone who actually knows how to make shows good.
@@siroreo717 It's the three times you listed. Oblivio, Cat Blanc, and Ephemeral. You might be confusing different character reveals (like in Gang of Secrets or Wishmaker) with another lovesquare reveal. The closest thing to a forth reveal was that split second one in Desperada.
I've never understood the frustration with no one figuring out their identities. That's how these types of shows generally work? And in my opinion, Miraculous isn't even the worst offender.
The concept is awesome. And honestly I'd love for this show to get a reboot somewhere down the line that uses a much more serialized format. Not because I hate the show for what it is (I'm a lot more tolerant than some on that front) but because there's great potential for it to be explored in a different way.
@@siroreo717 I agree
@@siroreo717 I totally agree with you
Not to mention that the quantum masking takes a hike whenever it's convenient.
Like the robot girl in the New York movie not being affected by the masking, yet Markov can't recognize them.
When i started watching the show, i was around 13-14. I'm 19 now and barely anything happened...
The show being a mess and crawling at a snail's pace, yeah.
Same, I started watching this show at 12 in 2015 now I’m 19 and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. No plot development, NOTHING😭😭😭
I was 16 when I started watching and that time season 2 just ended. I'm with ya my dude
Same I was 17-18 when I started am 23 now huge disappointment
Same, they re just giving us an emptiness in wrap up gift boxes over and over
I don't think the show is aging alongside the viewers and the show plot is moving too slow. People are losing interest. We need an age skip, Shadowmoth reveal, Adrian and Marinette reveal, and then Lila and Felix turning into the main villains.
If they aged in real it would help
Yeah, I loved this show when I first watched it. However, I was 12 back then. I'm not that preteen kid anymore so I can't enjoy it like I used to. I much prefer the fanfiction that adds to the characters and create interesting plotlines.
The stupid thing is that Astruc has said time and time over and over that all of this is taking place in an entire year.
@@Yuunarichu Pretty crazy that all of those seasons happens in the span of 1 year right.
I think it's been like 6 ish months in the show itself since it started or something
Personally, I've have zero trust in the writers of Miraculous. I don't mean to sound harsh, but its just, they don't seem to care for lore & character development, just wanting to do stupid romance stuff, and honestly, that is the one aspect I don't care about in the show, espicially with how they write it. I'm only here for the lore & battles when it comes to Miraculous
Yeah same here I mean I liked season 4 but after a while it dwindled one me. Besides they're consistently displaying misconduct in writing their lore and the order. In addition to the issues that are not addressed within the series including but not limited to, Marinette being a stalker, no one else not even Alya addressing it, Chloe's redemption arc being thrown out the window in the season 3 finale, even Thomas Astruck rather than acknowledge the criticism he ignores it and blocked the critics in a heartbeat. Even the AUs that were made with proper care felt better compared to here
... if you’re only here for the lore and battles, leave. Flat out. It’s not a smart reason to watch a series and it’s something that will either disappoint you, or if it makes the mistake of placating to you, will alienate most of its viewers and lose its audience.
This may have come off a little mean, but from a writing perspective, the lore really doesn’t matter. It’s like disposable income, something you only think about once everything that actually matters is taken care of. It may add a seasoning of flavour, but it needs to remain a minimalist aspect.
The writers of miraculous flat out just haven’t come up with any, and shouldn’t come up with any. They’re already struggling hard with their character writing and story progression, more lore is the last thing this series needs. What it actually needs is a complete restructuring of Zag studios into something... actually functional, and to get off their ass and tell the story they so clearly want to. The romance is poorly written because it isn’t romance, it’s pining and that has an extremely small shelf life. We’re beyond it.
If you would like a series about battles and lore, I would recommend Zak Storm, which is another series by Zagtoon. Basically it’s a boy named Zak who got sucked into the Bermuda Triangle and has to find his way home to his father. He becomes a pirate captain and gets a magical elemental sword called Calabrass. The only annoying thing is that they ended the damned show on a cliffhanger
Lol I don't think they even do the romance right
Simple as that, it barely peeked in season 2
I still don’t understand why it’s so hard to simply make the episodes IN ORDER
I know right?! I can understand not being perfectly in order but when the 11th episode is completed before the 3rd, there's a major problem!
And they are not even releasing the episodes consistently. We have 2 episodes from season 5 and God knows when the rest will be released and in what order
@@theinterovert Well the order I'm reasonably confident in. We'd probably have already gotten Jubilation and Determination from Gloob if they weren't being strict on following the order this time
the only resson i can think of is multi tasking hut when episode 11 is finished before 3, something is wrong
Let’s not also forget the time when a miraculous episode was released without a producer or director permission. There is also a lack of communication going on in the production.
I feel that the fan made AUs keep the fandom alive. Usually they have a more consistent uploads and better writing.
Over all the miraculous fandom is shrinking not only because of people leaving, but because it's really hard to get new people into the show.
I agree
I follow this AU called scarlet lady in tumblr and the creator is usually very at uploading and THE CHARACTERS USE THEIR BRAINS
And a lil plus is she makes different clothes for each episode
@@anathesanepanda113 yes, I love that au. It’s really funny.
Agree, I personally love watching emzurl's office au more then I actually love watching an actual miraculous episode
@@Tsabitah.A I didn’t think I’d be so invested in the office au since I don’t watch the office, but the au is so good
Not just he AU’s but also the rewrites! There are two (or maybe three-) rewrites here on YT that I’m invested in. Calimara’s Redesigned Miraculous Ladybug (and her Wild World Series) as well as Aloubell’s “Miraculous: Tales Beyond Fate”
I used to big fan of Miraculous.
But they were losing me at the finale of season 3, because I was so Hyped up for Chloe’s redemption arc to just get punched in the face.
I realised how creepy Marinette is and how flawed adrienette is.
It keep dragging on, “will they, will they not” is getting annoying with the only change is that the love square switches.
They try to convince that marinette and adrien belong togheter by characters saying it over and over again.
Show me! The only thing I see is Marinette drooling over some boy who she had a crush on after she met him a day ago just because he gave her his umbrella. Like what????
It feels the writers are holding a piece of candy above my head and everytime I tried reaching for it, they pull it up.
My bff also used to be a fan of the show. Me and her just dropped out when Zoey appeared. I just despise Zoey, she feels like a cart board cut out with a sticky note on it.
It felt like they ruined Chloe for this bland character. I roll my eyes, everytime I see her weird face.
I also just not like how they treated chat/adrien this season, the only thing he hid was being jealous.
Also bald miraculous guy (I forgot his name but that guy who called “master” Fu an idiot). I liked how called Marinette on her bs and that it’s irresponsible to have a teenager the miracle box. But then later he admits he was wrong and how ladybug was right. Like ladybug is so amazing.
It just really annoys me.
Thank you for reading my rant
yes agree completely
I agree with everything. Its like you literally took those words out of my mouth. Also the side ships with Kagami and Luka were set up beautifully only to be left to rot with maggots. Completely ruined
@@Akigirl2004 My only complaint is that, everything has always been kept secret from Adrien, one of TWO most important miraculous' holders. Even the former master stated that these two are made for each other. They could have shared the duty of keeping the miraculous.
Also the new Queen Bee's design (I don't remember her hero name and I don't care) is so bad compared to Chloe's QB
All the new superheroes are just so unmemorable, well, maybe except for Purple Tigress. Marinette is just casually throwing miraculouses to and fro, there's no buildup, unlike Chloe's and Alia's case (sorry if I misspelled the names)
@@kotrena Her super hero nam was something like visperia
Her design is a Wasp
But its the bee miraculous not the Wasp miraculous
Most of miraculous were rushed and those heroes have no reason to want to be a hero
If I'm honest, I think a lot of the fans of the show currently will stop watching after this season because I'm 95% sure that the reveal will happen this season and that is why a lot of people are still watching this show. So unless they are able to capture a new set of audience in the future seasons, I don't think the show will be renewed beyond the 8 confirmed seasons
Its because of the bad writting and Thomas Astruc's fault if Thomas stopped arguing and blocking people on Twitter and instead listen and respect the fan's opinion everything would be fine not only that he also puts a lot of hate on characters especially Chloe which makes him an imbecile and lastly bad writting they wanted to delay the reveal so much and some stupid time reverse episode made fans like me lose interest.
I agree with you.
It's like the FNF community keeping the game alive even though the actual game hasn't had much news in over a year. FNF is good because of the fans.
@@gabidobre5584 no, he reacts this way to any perceived criticism from fans who watch his show and then question the dumbass decisions he made for the series. Let me just be real here - me waiting for the finale could easily be compared to a prisoner scratching a tally of days on the wall. And yet, when the dust settles, somehow I still adore this show. 😅
Seriously I am so inseparable from this show it is unhealthy 😆
This is such a funny analogy. What is it about the show that keeps such a tight grip on me. XD I love it, for all its flaws I still adore this crazy show. 🤣
The intended audience being girls 11-15 is probably part of why things are neglected. This isn't getting the care that, say, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul got(which BTW they finished in a timely manner despite COVID & Bob Odenkirk having a heart attack on set). They network probably puts in less money than it needs to get things done. Astruc also has an ego, he works at his own pace the way he wants & constantly argues with anyone who disagrees with him, which no doubt further drives fans away. It's also a hard series to get into because you need 2 streaming services just to go back & watch it- Netflix for seasons 1-3 & the first 2 specials, Disney+ for season 4, New York & Shanghai. The plot also drags things along to pad out the episode count & yeah, viewers are probably getting sick of the same tease with no resolution on the various subplots. Honestly it's been a series I put on to pay attention to while I'm working on stuff, not one I sit down & watch intently. I don't have to be the target audience to enjoy it but they don't have to water it down for the target audience, either.
Yeah, because girls are Smarter than boys.
If not New York and Shanghai, what 2 specials were you talking about?
Also you need an episode list, since Netflix has things out of order. Sure, mostly it doesn't matter, but the finalie of one season on Netflix has part 2 first and then part 1! It's hard to watch from a mechanical standpoint, which is a heck of a hurdle for a casual fan.
yes 100% it's a shame the guy literally probably just cares abt money and bullcrap
Good teenage and kids media is harder, and dos not dumb down, but jut tells it mor aproviate, not dumber.
tbh, i fell in love with the show's potential more than what it actually is. I look forward to fanfics updates much more than the canon show
Miracle Queen Season 3 Finale was idiotic because it destroyed any progress the writers try to make with a redemption arc for her. Mind me, I have never enjoyed Bourgeois's character since Season 1 and still don't. But a redemption arc would have been a fun way to move her along.
I actually LOVE filler episodes, mainly because the context is written cutely silly and sometimes it offers more for the characters reasoning and personalities. But as we all know this series is in a nutshell Miraculous for. . . Repetitiveness and wasted potential.
Yes it's true, there's been rumors of running for 12 MORE Seasons again that be nightmare. The Endgame has been stated since Season 1, Adrien and Marinette ending up together still doesn't sit right with me. The writers drag this on for nothing.
Made worse they let Adrigami and Lukanette fall to the wayside, when in actuality they were the healthiest ships for Adrien and Marinette's development. Couples are supposed to help one another grow, be better and do better not freeze frame themselves to the other's preference. It's not right to force them together.
Fanfictions are this series only saving grace but even that is quickly disintegrating. Fans are leaving not just because of sad pointless shipping wars but because the writers just stopped caring. Well honestly, they stopped a long time ago.
For me, I liked when they explored the main pair a bit more in the different combinations
Like Cat Noir x Marinette
For some reason I like Cat more than Adrian, and Marinette more than Ladybug

I long ago came to the conclusion that the best thing about Miraculous is the fan content...
agree, they bastardized Chloe to smithereens in s3, whoever is responsible for it. Chloe doesnt even need to be fully redeemed, she could still be the same sassy entitled brat that is somehow REFORMED and go through character progression. Make her go through consequences of her bad actions as a slow progression as life lessons. her character could've just evolved into more of a dynamic and interesting anti hero. the chloe i know DOES hates and rivals marinette but she's against flat out evil too as proof of having a good heart deep down (not excusing her selfish deeds that still need answering). she's shown to still has moments of logical thinking and capable of doing thoughtful things for others while brushing it off all tsundere style. we already have flatout villains like hawky lila and felix so why the need for chloe to have character regression, huh, WRITERS?
the cringy cheesy christmas special, that event where her butler made her do nice things, that s2 finale where CHLOE and other classmates where just chilling in a city park picnic and she just brushed off very chill like when marinette and adrien were having a moment, and others ive lost count, will always be remembered. goodbye interesting Chloe, now she's been reduced into just a one sided bad baaad bad evil character
I left the fandom around the beginning of season 4 because of how toxic the fandom has become and also I’m just getting bored waiting for the reveal to the point that I don’t even care when the reveal actually happens. The only thing I stick around for now in mlb are the well written fanfics and very well put together AUs. I absolutely love the AUs Scarlet Lady and Bakery Enemies, both are more well thought out and plan ahead and has better character/relationship development than the actual show.
Bakery Enemies is hilarious right now, that last page! 🤣 Still like the show though I agree with him that the release schedule really hurts it. The drama in season 4 was already dragged out and the lack of weekly progress made it feel even longer and more frustrating.
Scarlet Lady is just Chloe hate. And Marinette being awesome. It's just the Canon show. But only slightly better. I'm sick of Marinette being this god. She's not that great in my opinion. And Plagg and Adrien's bond isn't good in that fic. Plagg is just a snotty brat and only kind to Adrien when he has to be. It's an insult to their canon bond from the first 3 seasons!

I've been a fan since the first season came out, and it's been absolute TORTURE seeing all the characters become more unlikeable (especially Marinette). I HATED HATED S3 and S4. When I read the comments on CZcams or posts on other social medias about miraculous, I get so frustrated that many people still enjoy it. They're like "omg Marinette is so cool" and "omg girl boss" or "woah Marinette and Adrien should just get together." And I'm like hello????? No??? Their relationship would be so toxic and ungenuine. Marichat had so much potential but they managed to ruin their chances in the show. I'm done watching the show but I'll click if it comes up in my recommendations or something. I just wished a lot of people wouldn't accept this sort of Writing
Judging by his tweets, Thomas Asstruck is toxic and hypocritical, so he can know nothing about healthy behavior and relationships and cannot write proper character. I wish he spent less time sh@tting on fans and more time finding out how humans work

How are children supposed to know those right from wrong?
@@kotrena I totally agree with you!
I think your are right. But... personally, I'm starting to get tired of Cat Noir being left behind as a character. He used to be witty, stylish, and emotional. But his character has been reduced to the bare basics to keep him a functioning in the plot from Marinette and Gabriel's perspective. Luka got thrown to the curb early season 4. There isn't any significant male characters left anymore. Cat was suppose to be the one character I could always relate to, but I feel like he is gone now too. Even if you are a female viewer, isn't it sorta disappointing that the main love interest doesn't have any character anymore?
I really hope that they're building up the background of the second Chat Blanc episode by leaving Chat Noir behind.
Ironically "lack of a personality" is exactly why they got rid of Felix and replaced him with Adrian (then later added him back in as a last ditch attempt to grab peoples attention)
Like, Im sorry, but the way theyve been writing Adrian recently, pretty sure even Felix as his original kuudere/tsundere self has more personality than Adrian. And thats just from the Ladybug PV.
This is a fandom that frequently sends each other death threats over differing opinions, wishes brutal harm on MINORS (yes I'm talking about Lila), supports toxic behaviours and relationships, AND routinely harasses the few successful fan content creators for more content. It's already a lost cause, and the reason why you and a couple other reviews are the absolute closest I'll get to the show anymore. MF, the voltron fandom was a SHIT HOLE. literally everyone was fighting with each other including the literal people working on the show, it was legitimately one of the most toxic fanbases i have EVER been in. there was absolutely nothing positive left in that fandom once we hit season 6.
There comes a point in every fan's failing relationship with a fandom - and here I speak from personal experience - where you need to leave for the sake of your emotional and mental health. It's not worth damaging these two things for the sake of something that can't or won't improve itself.
Children peer pressing adults to leave the fandom because we aren’t meant to enjoy the show? That is why I am avoiding the Twitter side and lost interest to inspire the younger minds then mine. And tbh, my health was declining because of this. I am not a child, therefore I go to mature shows: Now they try to taint my viewing for those shows. Here is the thing, it's been 6 years and the show's progress is at mínimum. The fandom has grown and matured a bit, the show hasn't. Therefore the people who liked its simplistic tone now see it as plane and dull.
The show has a lot of potential, but...it's just not that good as it was hoped to be. I abandoned this show halfway through the second season for a good reason, it's very slow and it sure doesn't help that they dont air the episodes chronologically.
I don't know if they can keep this up, to be honest. I think they should just make 1 or 2 more seasons and finish it. They 've proven that they won't make better changes. As it is right now the series is boring even by long lasting fans.
Honestly I really want miraculous pv version because the lore look so interesting
agreed
I love the 2d animation but I am so sick and done with bad boy anime characters. I actually love this version of Adrien way more I think it is a breath of fresh air
This show automatically lost a large part of my interest after they threw Chloe’s redemption arc out the window because the director was being a petty idiot who couldn’t let go of a grudge. You can’t teach the lesson of “people can’t change” properly if you show the character genuinely make an effort to be better. Not to mention that Thomas shouldn’t even be showing Chloe if he hates her that much, he should like or even LOVE her because he’s the director. The character doesn’t have to be a good guy to be likable.
I know children who stopped watching just because the show was becoming complicated and confusing.
It was probably the romance and time travel that broke that 8yr olds brain.
Too complicated for the very young audience, too dull for any older audience.
To be fair if the "romance" turned them away, good. Not really a romance when one's a stalker that'll break in your house and steal your things and the other won't take a no for an answer while always being left out of the loop. That sounds like a horror story.
As a person who is into superheroes, I'm really sad that this show is going downhill. The show is having its best season so far but the fandom lost interest due to the show's inconsistent airing schedule. I just don't understand why and how they would waste this show's potential. I've always liked the idea of "jewelry empowerment" and discovered a show that handles it really well, seeing it go downhill is really depressing. I hope they fix the airing schedule.
@Marinette shut up
Honestly, what I used to do was not watch any episodes when they got released and just wait until news of the finale got recommended on my yt. This way I wouldn’t get completely upset at the slow pace this show would go at and instead would be able to watch the entire season at the same time without wait (I’m pretty impatient lol). But the main issue for me is honestly the writing. I was pretty hyped for season 5, but now realizing that there’s gonna be (AT LEAST) 12 seasons, I doubt that the writers are gonna be able to come up with new and fresh material for each episode. There might start to be filler SEASONS now and I don’t think it’s worth having to wait months on end just for that. I bet if all of us from the fandom decided to just do our own fandom made “show” (maybe just like 5 episodes) we would be able to wrap this show up the way WE want (cause I’m pretty sure the reveal won’t be as satisfying as we think it might be considering the writing) and then not have to continue to wait to watch the reveal.
Woah okay I think I need to clear up some confusion hear. The fact that the Miraculous writers announced they had *ideas* for up to 12 seasons (that's in total, not 12 more seasons. And only an additional two have been confirmed at this point) in no way impacts the story of Season 5. This season is the final one for the ongoing story, so expect the reveal, Adrienette getting together, Gabriel's defeat, etc. The seasons after that are a continuation.
Yeah 12 seasons isn’t confirmed. Only 7, I think
Also- “the Agreste arc will end in season 5”. Meaning possibly a change in season 6, like a time skip or something idk. So it’s highly likely the reveal is in season 5. Meaning you can choose (probably) to stop watching miraculous after season 5
I honestly thought it was gonna be 12 more seasons, I guess that’s a relief. But I don’t think half of the fandom will continue watching after the reveal, based on the fact that most of us just like to get mad at the fact that martinete and adrien can’t seem to figure out each other’s hero identities lol.
I can feel my hype dying, especially in this current lull. I still like it and probably will continue to watch when they eventually release more episodes (annoying how long the dub takes, even after the episode release) but as for now my motivation to engage with miraculous is simply not there.
I felt that way a few months ago. But it never fails, something sucks me back in. The latest was the Evolution trailer. Bunny Noir?! Alright I'm hyped again. 😂
@@kabsageigj8941 agreed
Miraculous could've been so much more, but the story and lack of character development for anyone outside of Marinette ruined it.
Ok, I will admit, the fact they released the first 2 episodes into season 5 and have stopped again, is a bit of a bummer. But the start of Season 5 did hype me up, given how good episode 2 was. I am also one of those fans that really don't care about the reveal anyway. I am worried that if the reveal did happen, it would change the show too much, making the fanbase fall off even further. What I am interested in for this season, is how they will get the miraculous back, how they going to be able to stop O.P villians, if they go further with Luca knowing their identities and if the love square reverses which is looking like it so far. There are a lot of good episodes in seasons 1-4 I can always rewatch in the meantime.
agreed
agree. season 5 absolutely has its problems, but it's better than whatever inconsistent jumbled mess that is season 4 and 3 (there are some good things i still like abt s3 and s4 but maan it's buried underneath the rest of that mess). it took them long enough to have episodes that have long term consequences to be dealt with as a main plot :') it's finally getting somewhat interesting in a refreshing way.
@@SagemaGrindset1894 i find zoe hot in my opinion.
Oh it's not the release schedule that drove me away. It's the bad writing, horrible characters and awful behavior of Asstruck towards fans with a little criticism.
At this rate, I've been watching Miraculous for its reviewers and redesigners, and it's been years since I fully watched the show- I still remember it being a Nick-acquired program. So this passive watching has been fun, even if hiatus-brain is tough.
Me too. I actually just saw like 2 episodes of the fourth season, and one of them was kuro neko (the amount of wasted potential of that episode, that had an interesting premise that could have worked better if it was implemented in several episodes instead of just ONE, could have better handled in calling out marinette PROPERLY, the bitch didn't apologize for the real reason that she should have)
Not to be rude but
ngl I'm getting real tired of miraculous.
and if the reveal even happens I probably won't be surprised because of how many fake reveals already happened.
and what's with Zoey. her character just doesn't make sense to me and she's kinda boring.
the only reason she's even there is so she can
be the new bee miraculous holder. And there seems to be nothing else to it.
they brought a whole new character in just because they didn't want to make Chloe a redemption arc. But they still wanted someone to have the bee miraculous so what do they do....they give Chloe a sister so she can take it instead. that just irritating to me.
and don't even get me started on Thomas astruck or whatever. the guy that just doesn't listen.
Everytime someone said something that gets him mad or irritated he ends up blocking them instead of just listening. like who does that to there fans.
I may only be 14 but I know many show creators would at least listen to there fans and respond with something even if it's not much. at least they don't block there fans. Some creator's might listen to a point where they change something.
But honestly I might just leave the miraculous fandom because of how this show and the creator of it, is. because at this point I'd much
rather watch any other show.
thanks for reading. Sorry if it's long but I've been
Wanting to say it for a while.
also the fact that they make a reveal or an episode with actual romantic plot development, then something happens where the characters forget any of the events happened also sucks

Can we all agree that the only thing keeping this fandom alive are the A-Class fan content we receive (i.e. Fanfic, Fanart and Video Edits)?
Honestly I can look past issues with production. It’s the type of story and frankly awful lessons the show is teaching. When you dig into it there some subtle toxicity and pretty messed up ideas. And the thing is there are pretty good story ideas that could come from addressing that toxicity….so yea
Don't worry kids! Stalking and obsessing over your crush is normal!
Plus you totally can just bully your best friend into a slave!
Don't forget that bribery and corruption is SUUUPPPPERRR cool.
Oh! And mass murder is OK because you are grieving.
Till next time on ✨Miraculous Ladybug✨
@@Jack_is_attacking
A beautiful nutshell of horrible lessons. 😹😹😹😹
... you’re such a breath of fresh air, thank you.
It’s bothered me for years How a series with an amazing set up around interpersonal relationship problems doesnt capitalise on it and deliver some quite poignant lessons. Specially like you said, addressing said toxicity would be amazing.
I just wish the show would grow with the audiance. Like, the characters have been 14 for 5 seasons. Over 5 years.
To be honest, I don't know what you're on about when you say S4 was a massive improvement. Maybe this is me speaking as a Chloe fan, but the writing sucked worse than ever and if the popularity of the show has suffered, it's probably mainly because of THAT reason that any scheduling shenanigans. (In case you hadn't realised, I'm not gonna bother with S5 ^^)
In addition, why is Miraculous taking so long to unmask Hawk Moth, and just reaching the climax? Even "My Hero Academia" is running a bit too long, although a much better IP, so I'm glad it seems to be concluding.
agreed
I lost interest after Season 3 when I realized they were just doing the same thing over and over just with a different coat of paint. The romance also feels stale and they should just know who each other are at this point. If they knew who each other were then they would be able to work together better both in and out of costume.
They need to just rewrite miraculous as a whole and focus on the writing/ plot/and character development
Basically, what I think is going on with miraculous ladybug is the clash of two heads. Thomas Astruc and Jeremy Zag are opposing heads on the show. Jeremy Zag is the type of guy that likes confirming fan theories and wants to make his own connected universe called the Zag verse. While Thomas Astruc despises fans, hates criticism, and tries to avoid any tropes, despite that the superhero genre is filled with tropes. If any writer tried to make a superhero show with avoiding every trope, they will trap themselves in the corner. By only embracing tropes, then you will be able to use those tropes in unique ways. And all of this is coming from an amateur writer.
Really
astruc is the biggest hypocrite. he avoids tropes but somehow falls into them every single time
I honestly wish Zag get to handle the show more. His concepts like the peacock miraculous holder guy were interesting-- a diverse team of miraculous holders with age gaps compared to a bunch of middle schoolers renting kwamis like CDs.
i really have a love/hate relationship with this show, because i love the concept but how it's executed just ruins so much of it.
Bro the awakening movie has been getting delayed for like 4 years, when is it coming out?
i got a gut feeling it was just a publicity stunt.
What is even the whole point of the awakening honestly? What does it add to the story?
@@isabellaa8875 it's got something to do with the story of miraculous ladybug being rewritten in another person's point of view.
It’s hard to get new people excited for this show. They would have to watch 4 seasons full of filler episodes, bad writing decisions, and overall little to no character development just to know that we’re still waiting for 12 more season of this bs. It honestly sucks because I have no friends that watch this show and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to convince them to watch it, nor would I want to.
Plus the fandom is toxic as hell.
True😤😤😤
Bro they ain't making it to S6 at this point
12 seasons is not confirmed 😅 only 7 is confirmed (I’m pretty sure). At least it’s not 12 seasons. Also it’s confirmed that the ‘Agreste arc will end in season 5’. Meaning we will not get the same formula with Gabe as a villain for 10 more seasons. Also I highly believe the reveal is in season 5
Even without Gabriel as the villain, it’s still going to be the same type of episodes, only with a different villain (at least that’s what I’m pretty sure is gonna happen, with how the writers make these types of episodes). Dialogue, akumitization, fight, dialogue, repeat. Plus if they do the reveal before the end of the show, there wouldn’t be anything else to watch for. The core of this show isn’t the “amazing” villains, it’s the fact that the two main characters don’t know each other’s real identity, and therefore have a love square(?) between them. That’s the thing that makes a lot of the fandom keep watching. Otherwise it would just be a normal kids show.
Yea no, I gave up on miraculous years ago. CZcamsrs like you and my one friend is how I know most of what is happening, cba to watch the actual show

The biggest problem is the production because somehow they rush to make the episodes which leads to some with massive quality control issues like extra limbs, weirdly shaped bodies, wrong outfits or hair, and bizarre errors like King Monkey running on top a building in one episode. Not to mention that they rush to make episodes but can’t make them in order like they have the finale all good to go before like the third episode like seriously.
It's episode 11 not the finale. Also I really don't think typical animation errors is an example to use for rushed production. Qilin would be.
Well I guess I came back to the fandom at a horrible time
Yeah me too lol
@@Yk_Keys and its disappointing as well because I feel that evry fandom I am or was in is crumbling
@@Try-hard-emily Yeah fr
Eh it's not that bad right now. Honestly it's been less than half a year since the season 4 finale which isn't a crazy long hiatus. That's with us having already gotten Evolution and Multiplication. We aren't that starving for news/spoilers either. There's an official season 5 teaser trailer that dropped about a month ago. Right now we are just waiting on Destruction (episode 3) to be finished so a channel (probably Gloob) can air it.
I wish the show would actually focus on its lore instead of the drama and lovesquare nonsense. There is so much potential to discuss past wielders and powers, and like the other aspects, is barely touched upon by the writers.
If you overfocus on the lore... it could get boring very quickly. The lovesquare is one of the more unique things about this show.
But hey, what do I know. Everyone here seems to hate the show while I'm totally loving it and I see an improvement in quality with every single season. So I guess I'm weird then.
You really don’t. Writing 101, Lore doesn’t matter.
I’ve heard people compare it to cinnamon but I prefer the comparison to disposable income. It can be quite delightful... in very small doses. It’s nice seeing how it adds just a little bit of depth to the world. But there’s still a lot of shit to get through. Miraculous can barely write characters, can barely handle an already minimalistic plot progression, and it has a less than even chance of messing the things it already does up.
Lore is very easy to make, extremely so. Does mean that it has a lesser chance of being ducked up. But there’s still plenty of essentials that need to be bough. You can buy as many panini press’es as you want, but if you’ve yet to buy a house, food and healthcare, and haven’t paid your electricity or water bills it won’t do shit.
I'd honestly rather the lore, too, as long as it gives some other padding than Mari and/or Adrian proceeding to act toxic or creepy.
Another thing to consider: the Bible leak which has, thus far, been accurate.
Which isn't great.
For the most part, it seems the Fandom that is still around is kind of just here to watch the train wreck happen to see what can be salvaged in fic later. Because MLB has only managed to survive this far due to the Fandom doing far more with the show's potential than the Canon will.

Honestly, I've been using a lot of interest in the series anymore as I just can't stand some of the writing. Really what killed it for me was 'Emperheal' and the same type of things repeatedly happening like insanity. I still watch it and it's getting more interesting but I don't know it's defiantly not one of my favorite series anymore. Another thing that really turned me off from the whole series was the time Thomas was saying that the characters weren't ever gonna age, that just made me so frustrated not seeing that actual growth.
I used to watch this show so often, I used to enjoy it. But the lack of consistency, plot holes, marineete’s creepy stalking, and the romance that made me want to jump out a window, made me give up on it
Add that to the fact that astruc seems to be determined to alienate any portion of his audience that aren't preschoolers.
Honestly the season 5 hype is dead to me until we get some kind of announcement!

2018 (Season 2 vibes): A lot of people knows it and laughing that I watch it.
2019 (Season 3 vibes): same as 2018
2020 (Hiatus vibes): No one knows it
2021 (Season 4 vibes): A lot of people knows it and watch it
2022 (Season 5 vibes (the worst vibes)): A lot of people stopped watching
Season 5 hits ultra different than season 1 & 2..... I missed it sm!!
I’d also like to add how most people don’t like how certain points and characters are dealt with. Major one is Adrien, he was never given proper attention and I feel like he has a lot of potential that isn’t focused on just to give Mari the spotlight all the time. Other character would be Chloe and how we saw the start of the change and growth but they just completely backed away from them instead, now she’s more ridiculously annoying and a clown than ever before she’s quite literally stupid it’s annoying to see. Another one would be Alya knowing the truth first + using the ladybug miraculous, I saw this being debated a lot because how it relates to Adrien and the reveal. Also for the love of everything they NEED to stop hinting at the reveal! It only backfired so far.
I get the show is targeting younger audiences but EVEN KIDS DESERVE GOOD WRITING
@Marinette Yeah but for a show with a bigger and longer narrative it seems mostly lacklustre tbh almost like a draft
I'm watching Sailor Moon for the second time. Much better in terms of story progress & character development. If anyone wants something similar for romantic comedy, go watch while you wait for these releases. There's about 200 episodes

I left the fandom at the end of season 3. It just got too toxic for me.
Reasons
1. I was insulted when I said I didn't like Mariette/Ladybug
2. The Adrienette ship is one of the toxists of the whole series.
A staker who has pictures in her room of a boy she has a crush on (I guess you could also call her Yandere)
and a model who has been isolated and started school at 14 cannot have a healthy relationship.
3. Thomas Astruc
(I hope this all makes sense, I'm not that good at English)
I think season 5 is a hit or miss for some people in the fandom now. They are going to need to make a huge comeback for some fans this season. This can leave the fandom hyped for season 6 and on forward. Or the fans will just leave the show completely. Me season 5 will have to huge for me. I am at the end of quitting this show. But since Jeremy zag is taking over after Thomas most fans still can be happy I guess. Idk anymore about this show.
It's been 2 months soon like 3months since the 2nd ep of s5, like how much longer do I still have to wait😥
The way you described the show makes it sound like an online animation on CZcams.

Part of the issue is that some channels don't wait until they have a good number of episodes and just release what they have to be "first". As far as I am aware, only one channel has released season 5 episodes, essentially spoiling it because the rest aren't ready. If they had waited for at least the first half of the season to be ready, they could have done the weekly releases and been more consistent. I don't know of any other show I have watched that has had this done to it.
Okay, I may be a bit bias here: OG (Been hanging around since December 2015 lol) , I’m a fanfic author , theorist , editor for mlb content. But I have to deal with the fandom nearly every day of my life when it comes to responses from my writing or videos, and from where I stand I don’t really think the fandom is changing soo that much. The Reddit is still flourishing, my miraculous content is getting bigger by the day and at the minute one of my miraculous videos is peaking past 39k views when I rarely get more than 1-2k maximum!! Mate, I appreciate where ur coming from, but I have to politely disagree lol x
Quite the opposite with me. I got banned from the subreddit without warning after I stepped up and said that targeting and downvoting fans for having different opinions is wrong, and no one reads my fanfiction. People just block and ban me and make me feel unwelcome.
That’s awful!! I’m so sorry to hear that my friend! :(
Honestly, I liked that show a lot but I tried to watch the newest episodes of it and it’s just a loop of the same thing over and over, they always fight different villains but it always ends the same and the character relationships aren’t going anywhere, Adrien and Marinette aren’t going to get together anytime soon and it just feels dragged on. I couldn’t even watch the most recent episodes
Another factor that made miraculous episodes less exciting is the amount of spoilers gloob releases, spoilers in general can be a good thing as it can hype up the release of an episode, but gloob realeases so many spoilers that it indirectly diminishes the excitement for said episode, sure it attracted some hype in the beginning but when the actual episode releases it made the rest of the scene's that wasn't in the spoilers boring and uninteresting.
let's take ephemeral as an example, that episode had been hyped up by gloob so much to the point that they released all the interesting scenes in the episode days before the episode even aired, and interned made the rest of the episode boring and predictable, which in my opinion resulted in ephemeral being one of the worst episode in miraculous ladybug ever, and I'm sure most people can agree that they were either dissapointed or underwhelmed with that episodes release.
This is just one out of many examples of why gloob messed up this show with a plethera of different ways, like terrible writing, episode release schedules, spoilers and overall astruc's less then pleasent encounters with fans and critics.
I'm gonna be honest I don't even think this show can stay afloat in popularity any longer after (or even during) season 5's release, but hey I guess we'll just have to wait and see
i still really enjoy the show and watch the episodes once they release. its not supposed to be hard core thrilling story but chill story that kids will understand
The odd release schedule does not bother me as much anymore. It is still annoying, but not what makes me mad and hate the show.
What makes me mad is while the writing and premises did improve, the character writing did not. While the side characters were better, the main characters became worse. Adrien becomes dumber and more passive aggressive and Marinette goes from a loyal friend who was a little cringey and made some mistakes to a self-absorbed narcissist who repeats her mistakes over and over again and physically, verbally, and maybe emotionally abused her partner on a near daily basis.
I am a very big fan of The Owl House and Amphibia. In the case of Amphibia my first episode as the part of the weekly program was return in Amphibia with season 3, so I was preatty late, but I can say I absolutly could feel that hype from one week to another, it felt like such a short while that we have to talk about every possibility. Now that we are in the gap between season 2 and 3 with The Owl House I can say the hype is still there, but if don't get even a trailer for season 3 soon I am afraid that is going to fade. Mabey Miraculous can't mentain a weeky format, but tbh as I am right now I would be happy even with a monthly one

Considering there has no release dates or announcements for the English version and I have yet to see him on CZcams because I have no cable or anything like that😫 It gets really hard to continue watching when there is spoilers for the front version with the subtitles left and right
I remember having to wait 4 months for Startrain and Reflekdoll to release, and waiting a whole year and a half for season 4 to release I tried watching it and I felt I outgrew the show bec of how long I didn’t watch it
I used to be so into this show. Staying up late, bingeing episodes not to mention the many hours of fanart.
what killed my interest was the timing. After s3 finished up it was almost 10 months before anything happened. Aside from *NON CANNON* specials. Not to mention how 40% of the fandom left after SAMG announced they werent working with zag anymore. Honestly i did too. The only company that gave my homeboy luka eyebrows 😔
The quality is just down the drain at this point. All the time and energy is going to the *NON CANNON* movie. Nothing wrong with Jeremy working on a passion project. But whats upsetting is that was also delayed. Wasnt to surprised when that was annonced ngl :/
I just wish they focused more on the show. So many characters were just tossed away into the background. So many plots that were never fully explained or barely hanging on by a thread. Lukas quality origin story. Adriens mothers death, kagamis mother, kwamis. Not to mention chloe. I know so many people who stopped watching after s3 ended and chloe was tossed away and only used to sell merchandise cus cmon. Thomas knows the fandom has a soft spot for chloe.
(To this day we never knew abt the vomit tikki gave to marinette or somthing idk it was just squished into the episode with little to no actual meaning and was never brought up again in any episodes)
The list could go on honestly… im hyped for s5 but its so predictable theres no point in watching. Im only really here if they do just
Ic to my boy cat noir. But where things are going now hes only really here for character development for ladybug and just a prop to keep my attention span running. Its working so ill give them that
Also also. Ladybug just handing out miraculouses like candy. They’re supposed to be special yk? Not everyone has one bla bla bla hero complex. It killed the hype. I was so excited when alya and nino got one. Theyre be more super heros. More plots more fanart. But after everyone in europe got one it was just “whats next? Give one to a tree???” The whole point is to keep them from hawkmoth and not make an even bigger target for him. I just felt so forced.

I’m honestly glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this because I just assumed that I wasn’t a big fan of miraculous anymore
This video was so agreeable!! The fake revealing of identities between the main characters is what ruined this show for me.
This show has teased the audience so much that people don't even care about how the real reveal will pan out. This was supposed to be the most important moment of the show and I don't even mind if I miss out on watching it or not...
I really don't get it. Season 4 ended like two months before season 5 started. Just wait for all the episodes to be made before you begin releasing it. Is there some detail in the contracts that's causing this?
It's called Gloob being the most petty and impatient network I've ever seen. RTS is waiting until the end of October. That's likely the same for TFOU and Disney Channel.
Gloob started airing Season 5 when only two episodes were completed instead of waiting a few more months and having many more to work with.
@@kabsageigj8941 wow…..that’s awful

It's like the villains are so close and then some stupid shit distraction happens and Ladybug wins AGAIN
I mean did you all notice how Earth literally shook when Thanos won in the Infinity War???? So much engagement from people who didn't even follow the franchise up.
For once, let the villain win. Hawk moth was so close on that second episode of season 5 he could've dropped the flash and then go after ladybug but noooooo they decided to write him as a dunt.
Lady wifi, optigami,Froggy,Chris Master, Puppeteer, Style Queen, so many were so so close too close, but they kept dragging it. I'm not even interested in Adrienette anymore since they've succeeded in making me loose interest there too.
This is exactly why I stopped watching steven universe too when it was airing. Finally got to watching it recently because its all out but its not the same because i was no longer a part of the fandom. Delaying episodes frequently really does kill peoples interest in shows.
In my opinion, 2-4 seasons would be enogh to tell a good story
I don’t understand how Miraculous doesn’t just wait to release till it’s all system’s ago. Chronological order, yes. Weekly, yes. It’s called being professional. They should try it sometime
My personal interest died for the show when season three ended the way it did. And at this point I'm hoping and praying the show just ends so I (much like most of the fandom) can FINALLY move on to something else.
Yeah everyone I know who watched the show (including myself) left cause the show just got really bad
I agree I haven’t seen the fandom start to die off but I can understand why it would.
The biggest problems with miraculous are best exemplified by Chat Blanc and Ephemeral, and then by Felix and Gabriel Agreste.
CB and E are representative of how the writers don’t actually want to write their story. Hence why the only scenarios with any context are erased. Both are completely skippable, they don’t matter. What happens in them; Adrien and Marinette dating and the Reveal need to happen and stick.
Felix and GA are wonderful cases of blatant fan pandering, it also achieves nothing. Felix is a boring character, completely, and the fandom was going to love it regardless of what Miraculous did with him. The second the episode title came out everyone lost their shit because ‘Adrien’s original name’ and ‘call back to the show’ and ‘literally the cringiest and most problematic weeb trash’. Felix isn’t a character, he’s a tool, a tool designed to pander to the r/miraculous fandom and letting it work is poor quality control on our part.
I’m a fan of the show and to tell u the truth, my obsession is dying. I hate how they released two episodes and did nothing. And now we are getting season 5 in October, it’s just ridiculous. I kinda forgot about miraculous for a bit bc of it
I think it’s so exhausting how almost nothing has been accomplished by both the heroes AND hawk moth. It feels like the protagonist and the antagonist are just running around in circles tbh. None of their long term goals have been achieved in the 5 seasons of this show

I actually think about dropping miraculous and honestly the only thing keeping me right now is these videos and discussions. I love the theories and interactions with other people who watch the show, but I barely care about this show anymore
As someone that has been with the show since it was announced back in 2017, I will admit that I am just kinda tried of waiting for the story to catch that fire. I still like it and have some fond memories and want to engage, but it feels like it is all "theory territory" as to where it will end.
Not to say that making theories or talking about the shows story is not engaging, but it is draining in a way. As it is all speculations. Like, yes, we know that Adrien and Marinette are meant to be, but there is only a handful of times that I can say that showed progress and recent reverse progress was what we had wanted back in season 3 by this point. And even with Gabe, it feels like there is no clear answer of if he is genuinely mad for power or spiraling for other reason. And yes, that is part of the allure and charm, but at some point, you just want them to get a yes or no answer. Kinda like a joke that gets overly extended and you have to wait for the punchline or the shoe to drop because you know it is coming, but at a snail pace.
And for me, Miraculous is just taking a longer time to get through to the punchline. No hate to the production team, they are doing their best. Just too many things holding this show back is - for me - making me loose interest. (Barring as well all the Thomas Twitter stuff).
