- This American Professional I Stratocaster came to me in a very sorry state having had a DIY relic performed on her. In this video we sand the epoxy layer, paint and polish the guitar.

Super travail, j'ai hâte de savoir en faire autant.
The good work
What a fantastic job you did.
Thanks so much for your support - honestly, comments like this keep me going despite the trolls.
There was a point where I thought the polishing wheel was going to grab a pickup rout, and launch the guitar across the room.. I’m glad that didn’t happen!, the guitar came out looking sweet!
Hahaha this is why I use the polisher and not a buffing wheel! What I definitely have done in the past is got too close to the towel the guitar is on. The polisher grabs it and launches the guitar in the process!
Thanks for your support :)
Looks like a guitar again. Nice work. One down , a million to go , lol.
Haha yeah I need to stop browsing Facebook marketplace as I’m starting to become the Tavarish of guitars! Thanks for your support :)
fantastic.. and i love showing such details.. especially in the booth and your spray patterns.. very interesting.. appreciate your perfectionism.. !!
Thanks very much! The perfectionism makes it extremely unprofitable but we do this for love, right?! Glad you like the detail shown as well - as someone who talks too much and struggles to be succinct, it’s hard to know how much to include. Still finding the balance :)
That's a beautiful restoration job! I hate when odiots bang them up to look old!
Thanks for your kind words and yes - I’m inclined to agree! Maybe I should dedicate the channel to making relics look brand new 🤔
Impressive results. It turned out looking like a factory finish. Paying $400 to have someone else deal with that headache is a bargain.
I agree! I’m still looking for that someone 😂
Id do it year round for $400 a pop. 2 or 3 day everyday. Hmu lol. 👍✌️
watching this has been inspirational!! I have been learning how to stain, paint, and re-finish and polish guitars and I'm glad to see how many mistakes I have made that were the same, you live and you learn but watching your video I learned some small tips and hacks, that color job is also inspiring me to make a strat or tele body in that color. Awesome video and awesome work!!
Thanks so much for your kind words. I never know how honest to be for fear of feeding the trolls but if others can learn from my mistakes and save themselves from heartache and depression then it’s all worth it! Check out Electric Guitar Paint and Stain group on Facebook. It’s a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. Good luck!
Looks terrific mate 😊
Beautiful job! Well done!!
Thanks for your support!
Fantastic!
G'day Beardsworth,
Thanks for a great video. I enjoy seeing a guitar that's been treated properly.
Keep up the good work
Andrew
Thanks for the support - more to come!
Bonjour j’ai l’impression que il n’y a pas assez de ventilation 🙋🏻♂️👍cabine de peinture🙋🏻♂️👍
Great Job very educational and informative!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent
awesome video! How much pressure are you applying on the sandpaper at the polishing phase? I did one and can't get out of tiny scretches...
Thanks so much Honestly you only want the weight of your hand on there. Anything more and you risk making deep scratches if you get grit under the paper. I strongly suspect what you are seeing is fine scratches from the final course of sanding. Try buffing more and you’ll be amazed at what eventually disappears. But do it in stages as you don’t want to get too much heat in the paint. Buff it, let it cool and then repeat. In time you’ll get a feel for which scratches require further sanding. Hope that helps!
Thank you very much for your support! Ventilation has always been a concern in the booth due to space, especially when using both a paint and carbon filter on the extractor fan. I do have two additional fans off camera that push air into the booth though for positive pressure in there.
Great work 👍 Are you using Nitro clear?
Sure am! Behlen stringed instrument lacquer. Thanks for watching :)
Are you using nitro clear?
Yeah Behlen Stringed Instrument Lacquer here
I would of sanded up to 3000 paper & buffing so much easier plus less chance burning clear
Yeah I know there are lots of advocates for doing this. I guess my loathing of sanding always deters me but I might just try it on my next paint job. Thanks for watching!
Even up to 5000 paper & hardly any effort in buffing & risk or burning or rippling paint
que vergas pinta la neta
?
@@BeardsworthGuitars its a way to say, you have great skills for painting in spanish from north of mexico
Hahahaha Google translated it as “what the hell does the net look like” 🤔
What net???
Thrilled to show my 8 year old son your message as he is in a dual language school where half of the lessons are in Spanish.
Это не реставрация. Дизлайк
Good to know! Let me know where I fell short of your definition of a restoration and I’ll try harder next time ;)
Maybe he was hoping you’d be able to turn it back into a tree
Ah yes! Alas, while I appreciate how easily mistaken we are for one another - what with both being carpenters of sorts, I’m not actually Jesus.
