Yellow Perch are one of North America's most popular fish to target during ice fishing season. I spent a morning on Curlew Lake in northern Washington fishing for perch and provide suggestions and tips to help you put more Yellow Perch on the ice.

When I fish for perch without a sonar I use a high/low rig. That way I know my bait is 8-12 inches off the bottom all the time without being able to see it. I can use a heavier weight to get down faster and it tapping the bottom seems to attract fish. I love these video and the underwater footage is my new favorite thing.
I think this is one of my favorite videos you’ve done.
If you use perch eyeballs for bait they have a hard time stripping it. You really need to try lake cascade in Idaho. We got some 14+ inch perch this week.
I got some 14” perch right here in Washington just a few days ago
Love watching you play keep away, to target larger ones lol
We finally have some safe ice hear in Eastern Canada, got onto slab white perch yesterday. Horrible water clarity for the camera but the sonar did a great job keeping us over fish.
So cool to have the camera, thanks for sharing!
I went ice fishing once before I decided I needed a sonar. After we got a fish finder for our boat this summer, I really saw how much it changed our fishing. Then you add in the challenge of the cold and drilling multiple holes? forget about it. Next on the list is a powered auger but that will probably wait til' next season. Would love to catch some perch supposedly the pond nearby is full of em, should be frozen enough to fish I'll have to take the spud bar down and check it out.
One of my favorite seasonings for perch is called Shore Lunch, so good when frying!
Looks like an awesome trip! Would have loved to see your stack of perch at the end!
Great video man. I went to curlew and a few days ago and the perch bight was really good. I don’t don’t use sonar or camera but it’s pretty cool seeing the fish underwater.
Yellow Perch: considered a trash fish in many western trophy trout lakes because they compete with trout for food and their spiny dorsal makes them hard to swallow.
They are much better tasting than trout. Do you have a favorite recipe?
Several favorite recipes you use it in this one all the time honest-food.net/vietnamese-crispy-fish-recipe/
Thanks
Soothing video😂
Why is it I never seem to catch perch any other time of year?
It’s possible they are moving to deeper water. As well as school heavy in spring summer fall here in New England
Would you recommend that camera for open water use? I am looking for one to use ice fishing and open water walleye etc.
Yes I use it all the time for Walleye
Awesome video. Why does the screen go black in the video sometimes?
Is the lithium battery having problems in that negative temperature?
That was an exporting error from Adobe that's my bad I didn't catch it.
Giveaway fishing trip in idaho? I know id love to fish with you and pick your brain a bit! Too broke for the patron lol
What gloves do you recommend for ice fishing? Do you have a link?
In the bio. Inexpensive fingerless wool gloves with nitrile gloves underneath
a lot of the time perch are hugging the bottom so you can't see them on your sonar until you drop a jig down and it comes up so using it just to see fish is not good
But without sonar you would never know if fish are coming up off the bottom. So still a huge advantage to have
